The producers have openly said they are trying to piss off Halo fans because that's not the audience they want. They are intentionally ignoring all prior Halo media and basically just doing their own thing with a thin Halo paint job.

this is the corporate mindset in a nutshell, or at least it has been my entire life. management class needs number go up forever, and you don't do that by keeping your established fans happy. it's a purely greed based mentality, in their eye theres no profit to be made unless you can expand the number of consumers.
