Having the desire to publicly rate films and to have a public archive of all your ratings is mental illness.
keeping a catalogue of what you've seen is okay. writing paragraph long reviews like someone gives a shit is cringe.
yeah i just keep track of what i watched and never write a word.
I make notes of what I noticed about a movie. It’s interesting to see how I feel after watching it later on.
I write in a notebook though, not some homosexual reddit hugbox full of nobodies trying to be internet famous with their shitty hot takes.
imdb exists too.
The site is fun and some of the reviews are good for a quick laugh, and that's it.
Easy to navigate UI for phone users.
The UI isn't complete dogass like Imdb
I really hate the userbase it cultivated because it really is easier to use than imdb.
One is related to the other.
The reason why it’s so easy is because it’s been primarily used as a bot training ground
Tards and bots
I don’t get the internet people have for this app, I tried it a few months back and got bored of it immediately
*interest
Yeah, I made an account because I thought it would generate recommendations based on your reviews, but it's just a place to keep track of what you've seen and whine about other reviews.
>redditors
more like mentally ill females and trannies
Digg killed itself, reddit ate the abortion
Now reddit is committing sedoku albeit more slowly. The abortions are dripping onto the shriveled elderly husk of Cinemaphile (formerly chan)
The circle of life has been perverted due to centralization of the web so instead of something new growing from the decayed remains we're seeing the bizarre incest cycle of continual rot.
I really do appreciate the fact that Cinemaphile's UI has largely remained unchanged even after 20 years
>Sedoku
Did you mean Seppuku?
>he doesn't know
This comment made me turn 360 degrees and walk away.
You'd have to do that twice to actually go anywhere moron.
never use this website again and go away forever please, you failed the test, leave forever
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT
Idk man it’s a doggy dog world out there sometimes you just gotta grab the bullet by the horns
Mistakes like those are a diamond dozen.
I hope you feel bad about your penis size.
who else is there?
The reviews/comments people post on this website make me want to go on a killing spree, I'm not even joking. I've always hated this shit when everything gets turned into an ironic meme and sadly Cinemaphile is more responsible for this than reddit. The most ironic thing about this place hating the latter is that whenever the latter pops up on google and I open it all the memes look like they come from here
It's a social media about film, you should be expecting people to be tryhard memelords
All of the memes that didn't come from SA did start from here. If it weren't for /b/ your grandma wouldnt have those pictures of cats who want cheeseburgers to enjoy. SA, Fark, Digg, Slashdot, plebbit, all architected their own destruction while trying to distance themselves from the spicy humor found /here/, which means anons always wind up returning and bringing in the internet's garbage users with them.
Because they do
The left can’t meme
proof that front end development skills can have a huge impact in marketing
If reading reviews trigger you don’t read them or just don’t use Letterboxd.
the userbase is infested with hollywood shills
she has a point
Oh wow, shilling a decades old movie!
moron
How she gonna do my boy Minch like that?
This almost reads like a mean-spirited neo-Cinemaphile edgelord post. It's insane it has that many likes.
>ingenuine fabricated quip for likes
I hate this.
I literally just go there to put in a star rating and that is it, for the sole purpose of keeping a record of what I've watched.
You can talk to people and interact with them?
Fricking why?
>finish kino
>check out some reviews (against your better judgement)
>pic related is one of the top three
Is there a worse poster on the site? On any site?
There is a block feature
Why aren't people aware of this? I block anyone who's a troony or a communist, anybody who mentions anything gay or feminist, and my experience is fine. Same as here, good filtering is central to enjoying yourself
>Gets 1,000,000 likes on his rambling post that is basically a blog entry and has little to nothing to do with the movie he's reviewing
Most of those are by bots
Just block all the "top users" and you'll be fine
Nope. the entire userbase is just lame, unfunny zoomers. Gave up on it long time ago...
>watch kino
>log on letterboxd
>browse reviews
>top review is something like "character x was 100% gay"
Yep. Lawrence Of Arabia. It's all so tiresome.
>watch a John Ford film
>look up reviews
>NOOO WHY ISN'T THIS CONFEDERATE SOLDIER A FLAMING HOMOSEXUAL AND FIGHTING FOR TRANS RIGHTS
Top review for Forrest Gump.
These people must be so miserable
So this is the Reddit take on nu-Cinemaphile cynism?
A moronic bunch of 'cool' sounding buzzwords and Reddit-spacing midwittism
Out of morbid curiosity, what movies does this person rate as their favorites?
https://letterboxd.com/followtheblind/
I did not expect that
Triumph of the Will
Other than being an insufferable homosexual he's pretty based actually
ok, he gets a pass
The user is reading way too much into Jenny and Forrest. Jenny doesn't question anything, or really stand up for what she believes in if anything, she goes with the flow. Forest just knows simple humble virtue but isn't very bright and is able to navigate through life. Jenny ran away from her abusive and neglectful family, and ran through scumbags and drug addicts, picking up a heroin addiction along the way that gave her HIV. Jenny just wanted someone to care for her and wanted a family she never got. All too tragic story of people wanting to belong and joining harmful movements. . And YES, this happened to so many 60's and 70's burnouts.
You thought all the hippies and drug addict party people were well adjusted people who had happey ends?
I don't even LIKE Forest Gump, but this review goes way too far. It's just try-hard cynicism trying to sound smart. Over time, cynicism overtakes all other views on social media, since it's so confident and sure of itself and the people advocating it seem so smart. They have all the answers so they must be riht, right?
Unironically accurate review, except Jenny was just a b***h prostitute and not a representative of the questioning people.
I honestly just use it to see my kino memories over the years and also the watch list feature is nice for when you're looking for something to put on. Idc much for the review side
i only use it to log my watched movies, the lists can be pretty nice too for discovering kino
Why do you even look at reviews? How gullible are you? If you really wanted to go watch a movie and some reviews said no you're just going to follow blindly?
How else are you going to have something to b***h about on Cinemaphile?
I just log watched shit without ratings or reviews
It's social media. Normal people don't use social media.
so is Cinemaphile
And normal people don't use Cinemaphile.
there are some redditors but it's mostly just western w*m*n and trannies making 'kill all straight men' lists and pissing & cumming over actors and actresses, whilst typing the most unfunny cringe female humour comments you'll ever see in your life
the reason it attracts that tumblr/twitter audience is because the mods ban anyone who's sane and normal. it's an echochamber of moronation. the app does have a nice look and i only use it to log in films I've watched. never write a review. NEVER read any comment from those braindead homosexuals. their rating is meaningless
So not really that different from this board
there are no women on Cinemaphile and sometimes comments are hilarious
Giganewbie
There are some boards on Cinemaphile that are majority women, and not just the attention prostitute/orbiter ones like /soc/ or /LULZ/
isn't there a study on how autism affects the female brain and makes it more male? the women outside of those boards are so autistic they might as well be men
Why not just use IMDb if you're not using any of the social media features? IMDb has more actual information anyway.
IMDB's UI is garbage and isn't as robust at cataloguing your movies.
IMDB is where the chads congregate.
Ever since they got ride of the forum it’s been lame and now they are basically just an Industry owned shill site just like all the rest
How the mighty have fallen
Just use it as a way to log the movies you've seen, stay away from the troony community. Simple.
The rise of social media and 3rd world internet access come 2011
Cinemaphile in particular had a huge psyop to open up a wormhole for them and their lessers by forcing this fake as shit "rivalry"
It is invaluable to me as a tool for cataloging what I've seen. I watch A LOT of horror movies and sometimes they start to run together. If I can't remember if I've seen something or not I can just check letterboxd to see if I've rated it.
The community is complete braindead npc cancer though. I never look at reviews or anything because you know exactly what it's going to be.
That's exactly why I use it. I just log all the horrors I've seen, give each one a star rating, never post comments or reviews
>Write couple of paragraphs talking about why you genuinely love a movie
>5 likes at the most
>BratPitt's "review" of the same movie is just her saying she wants the male lead to frick her
>20 billion likes
r/thedonald
Oh, you meant Lettercoxxed and not Cinemaphileg? That one idk m8
Kenny has been pretty active on letterboxd
Yeah I've been using this site for quite a while and it's impressive how it fell in terms of its userbase...
Still, I only use it for logging and listing purposes only, the reviews are always literal reddit meme tier level of bullshit
I made an account today and autistically added every film I've seen. The top reviews are insufferable le quirky women humor quips.
>Pic
A man wrote a female character who affirmed that women have no reason and accountability, which proves women have no reason.
Letterboxd was shilled here when it had like 300 users, and Cinemaphile was already infested with cros/sp/osters and Cinemaphileredditors.
It's a simple mathematical equation, randy.
Its design and the UX are near-perfect in this age of bloated websites. It is rare to find a website today that simultaneously looks as clean without sacrificing usability. Cinemaphile (except for the captcha) or old.reddit are similarly nice to use.
i remember seeing that troony patricia i think who had reviews on almost every fricking movie and they were always moronic leftoid shit, then he finally posted his face on twitter and he looked so mentally ill it was disturbing
You seem to pay odd amount of attention to this
not really, just saw his reviews often and then saw his face posted here
>Why can’t letterboxd be a safe space to chuds like me???!!
PTP ratings and discussion were better. Hope it comes back.
It has a clean UI and its easy to find movies you want to watch next. Just ignore the reviews
If I'm given the choice to push a button that kills either all the butthurt chuds here or the morons at letterboxd I would have to think a lot.
Chuds have grown on me in the last few years.
I’m israeli so it’s not a natural fit but they’re reliably right on a bunch of common sense heuristic practical stuff.
When I see someone here called a chud or an incel, I immediately assume they’re right about whatever is being discussed
They look for upvotes and attention.
Is there a way to not hide the disgusting most liked reviews on the front page of a movie and only see the reviews from my friends???
Post your first page
Why would I? I only use the site to log the films i've been watching or keeping a watchlist. I dont even rate or review movies, just pressing the heart button if I liked the movie a lot.
Letterboxd is alright if you don’t engage with the homosexual user base. I regularly use hate speech in my reviews and haven’t been reprimanded yet. Get a decent amount of likes, too.
I've used it for over 8 years, best way to log movies.
Every platform with harsh moderation turns into a breeding ground for redditors.
It's like removing school bullies from a playground. The nerds will congregate and grow insufferable without someone keeping them in check
No westshit can come close to Anilist/MAL. How are the weebs always winning.
I use it to look for old movies. its filled with women and LG TV community that's why I never read reviews
>i-it's reddit
Predditors are attracted to innocents and purity they get off on defiling this beautiful sanctuary just like they do defiling children
