But anyone else kinda tired of modern superheroes, villains are people too and everyone a family on a team and other wholesome junk? I keep saying and people loving it and I'm kinda tired of it and rather just have them act regular

boomer
Yeah that's why I don't bother with modern comics.
Yes.
It's a late reaction to everyone being a jerkass in the 00s. Personally I think the first 50 issues of Gotham Knights hit the perfect note of having the Bat-family working together and not being schmaltzy or callous with each other. They are like a family, yes, but it's also a family business.
In an age of post modernism whedon quips, being wholesome and sincere is a revolutionary act
Wholesomeness, as presented in these comics, is part of the same horseshit as Whedonisms.
Wholesome can get pretty gay and lame really quick though.
You can be sincere while also having the cool things. I want cool things, not gay shit.
> something sincere and revolutionary coming from the big two
It's fine if WFA is your kind of slop, but let's not get carried away. It's your average american family sitcom with the vernace of batfam slapped over it and it's fake af.
Yes. This shit is awful, but they want the female readership.
But women don’t like this shit. Sci fi, fantasy, action adventure. They don’t like any of it. Guys do.
Anon the Bataimily is one of the most popular fandoms on twitter/tumblr and the vast majority of its women. WFA directly cribs from their headcanons and things they like and talk about constantly e.g. Dick being explicitly Romani, Tim being a coffee addict, anyone remembering who Duke is, etc. Given Wayne family adventures was one of the most popular comic books going for its first few months (it may still be I don't know) it seemed to work for them
That isn’t most women. That’s some women. The weirdos, the freaks.
Twitter/tumblr isn’t at all indicative of the opinions and tastes of the average person ie “normies”.
>Given Wayne family adventures was one of the most popular comic books going for its first few months (it may still be I don't know) it seemed to work for them
Comics are in such a rut that WFA is considered 'popular.' By webcomic standards it's incredibly middle of the road in viewership
100m viewers is a middle of the road in viewership? Webcomics are that popular? That's hard for me to believe.
What are you talking about? WFA is pretty popular even in comparison to other webcomics. Not many has over 100m viewership.
I kind of don't like either. I enjoy shades of both I guess, but it feels like now you have to go all in with one or the other.
You're in luck because someone is storytiming Zod's comic right now.
Why is Damian black on the cover?
I too am wondering that. When did Damian and Duke become the same shade?
They think he has to be brown because he’s part Arab, even though most Arabs are light skinned. They also forget he’s part Chinese, and that Talia’s half Chinese.
It's actually kind of funny, because WFA has spawned this weird Twitter cult that shrieks and freaks out now every time Damian is drawn as lighter-skinned in the main comics -i.e. how he's ALWAYS been drawn. They're blatantly people who never read a comic before WFA in their whole life and assume it's the defining canon.
>freaks out now every time Damian is drawn as lighter-skinned in the main comics
This has been happening before WFA existed.
I don't mind that setting, if only it wasn't just Flash, Batman and Supes over and over again dealing with their snarky homosexual foster kids.
Seriously, what about a cute slice of life featuring J'onn and M'gann? Diana having to deal with a cousin/nephew? Eel O'Brian learning he has bastard kids he didn't know about (which isn't too far fetched of a plot, since his son Luke/Offspring is one himself)?
Read Kyle Baker’s plastic man.
Edwina is Eel's fostered daughter, not biological. it'd be more interesting to have a kid that isn't Luke that shares the same powers than him
I don't understand why this book trigger some people so hard. It's a fun gag book and DC's most consistent book that actively used the entire family. It's honestly one of DC's very few good books in the last decade.
Comic fans are in a constant Salty-spittoon competition to prove their masculinity. It’s why so many reactions here are about it being icky girls stuff. Meanwhile I can watch SD gundam or other self-parody media from Japan and understand that the different tone using the regular characters for the sake of humor
To be fair, I have also seen female fans who are pretty triggered by this book for some reason. They do complain about it in Tumblr and Twitter.
There's a pretty distinct split based on whether they like Jason as an Edgy Boy or as a rough-and-tumble elder brother (technically middle brother but whatever) figure.
I think the issue is that a lot of them started to hate the idea of the batfamily due to the terrible way Jason is being handled whenever he is around them.
one of the artists got outed as a jaytim or jaydick shipper the other month which is obviously hardcore incest of a level that would make Josef Fritzle throw up so I think people have started to decide its problematic or some shit.
>It's a fun gag book and DC's most consistent book that actively used the entire family.
Well its obvious you wouldn't understand since you clearly have no taste
Says the guy who unironically read cape comics. At least WFA is a silly book that doesn't take itself too seriously.
There's plenty of cake comics old and new that don't take themselves seriously without being boring like WFA is
>so assblasted he went to the 'everything sucks so what' defense
lol. maybe stop being such an insecure homosexual
He isn't wrong. It's pretty ironic for cape fan to accuse others of having "bad taste". Superhero comics are pretty low quality.
then why are you even here?
Because I do read them, but I don't pretend that they are actually "high quality" work.
>why yes I read shit on purpose
I always wondered who liked the 'lol this actually moronic' moments in the mcu. Enjoy your irony poisoning anon.
>implying that I actually like mcu
And yeah, cape comics are indeed poison, but I fortunately don't consume much nor wasted so many years of my life on them.
Get some self awareness you're on a comics board arguing with a stranger about how much you don't care about comics.
>Get some self awareness you're on a comics board
Because I did say I read them? And I only stated that I don't think they are high quality work. I obviously do care (to some extent at least...) or I wouldn't be here. I'm not sure what's your problem exactly.
Good for you. Shit is tainted and interest is waning.
Get out my thread.
You do know that in the main comics they've been shitting on the idea of the batfamily non-stop, right?
Yeah but fandom wants this take and everyone likes this kinda stuff look at PS5 Spider-Man and how it tries to make villains people and has wholesome scenes of Peter talking to dying people like yeah he does that but everyone makes such big deal out that shit and we get it a lot.
in main comics yes. in webtoons no it is, its own universe that gets to have a semi good balance on what a healthy bruce wayne and co would be like
Batman’s supposed to be cool. The Batfamily isn’t cool. Get rid of it.
>Batman’s supposed to be cool
If you're nine, I guess.
I just get burn out this type of stuff, LIKE I GET SHE'S A GOOD PERSON
Do young boys actually like WW? I do think it's kinda embarrassing
He's gay anon and Youtubers complain about that even though it makes sense look I don't like Tom King but like come on man...you're just finding shit to b***h about they also get mad about her speech even though nothing really all that wrong with it.
Didn't watch any youtubers nor I was aware that people disliked it. I personally did dislike her speech.
It wasn't great and felt forced but like it wasn't worst thing ever.
Yes. I hate this shit so much. Who the frick wants an emotionally intelligent Batman and Robin?
>emotionally intelligent Batman and Robin
I genuinely hope you don't think the page you posted is an example of this because their interaction in this issue was pretty cringy.
I did, actually. They're sitting around and talking about their feelings, expressing self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.
My Batfamily figures shit out through punches to the face, not hugs and i-love-yous.
And frick Nightwing actually calling Bruce dad to his face.
They aren't talking about their feelings. Their entire exchange is all about Nightwing and how awesome he is.
Reminds me of how Bruce, Jason and Damian grieving Alfred is all about what he means to them while Dick's grieving is all about what he means to Alfred. Nightwing is truly a cringe character.
That's not being emotionally intelligent. This is just a fluffy moment without substance.
Honest question anon, are you autistic?
This stuff always feels forced, like people don't talk like this like should be more like.
Nightwing: Bruce.
Batman: Dick
*Look at each other and walk off*
Probably becasue they're voicing something that's aggressively self evident. Its just a way longer version of Nightwing telling Batman thanks for taking him in.
It's a Batman comic for chicks.
no one will ever care about duke
It;s funny that he's the intended PoV character but got dropped quick. They mainly like Damian, Cass, and Jason. When those three show up the comment section is much more active. They used him in the season finale and that felt like they had their arms twisted
>They mainly like Damian, Cass, and Jason.
Of course they do. They’re the most interesting characters in the Batfamily overall.
