I'm rapidly losing interest in comic books.
Now, I don't just mean recent comics, but old ones as well, in any genre and demographic. Foreign ones too, even manga.
I've been reading comics for two decades, and I've rested for long periods of time and come right back, but this time it's for real.
I love the medium, but it's not really doing it for me anymore.
And I still get a huge kick out of prose and movies, so it's not some kind of emotional problem.
Anyone else feel this way?
I think you just need a month-long break
Just take a break or step out of your comfort zone
I did that with all-ages comics
What's your favourite comic? Does it still bring you joy?
>I'm rapidly losing interest in comic books.
Join the club. Normies abanonded them decades ago. Sales are dropping for a reason, atleast for the superhero ones.
I love comics but don't read them as heavy as when I was a kid. My collection is so big I don't need to go to the comic shop every Wednesday.. Now I go to the shop every 4 months and just try to find the missing holes in my Batman comics or X-Men.
I recomemd finding another hobby like Martial Arts, working on cars, shooting guns, studying Ninjitsu, building an Iron-Man suit, join a militia.
How do I know if a girl has been sexual assaulted without her telling you. I’m dating this b***h who has been and I thought it would be a big deal, but it’s annoying as frick, like I don’t naturally have empathy so it takes effort. How do I tell do I can avoid them in the future
I just don't see how comics makes economic sense. I mean I'm paying $6 for something I'm going to look at once, maybe twice for the art in some cases, and then it just collects dust. I was into it when I was little, but I'm a big boy now. I can buy cigarettes.
some shops have $1 bins, the used Book store "Book Off" also has $1 comics. if you're lucky enough have one in reach you should check them out.
Just take a break and read some books.
sometimes it can be burn out and a break helps. sometimes its recent stuff not clicking and a break helps. tho sometimes even youre favorite comics make you feel nothing and you might need to check in on youre noggin. depression sucks joy out of youre easiest free happiness hobby and makes you think maybe you never actually loved the hobby and its all downhill from there and that fricking sucks
happened to me for games and it sucked hard ass. go check in on youre self and other habits that you used to love but aint clicking no more
Come home white man.
He said he's tired of manga as well
Take a break. Hobbies need to be diversified. You can't just do one thing for so long or you burn out and it makes for a rather uninteresting personality too frankly. Go outside. Talk a walk. Watch a movie. Read a, for want of a term, real book.
>I've been reading comics for two decades
Big Two comics have been shit for most of that time. Have you read stuff from earlier?
Seriously just try something else than you feel like you wanted to do but never had time to do. Comic books characters like Punisher have guns, so get a gun hobby! Do anything you want, but I suggest shooting guns.
Nah. I still enjoy my old favorites no problem, even though I'm done as frick with every comic printed after 2010.
However, you should get a new hobby, something as far removed from comics as possible. Something like mountaineering or diving.
It helps to get out from under marvel and DC. Even at my comic reading lowest I almost always stuck with Usagi Yojimbo and Hellboy
That happened to me a decade ago, then I returned. You'll be back.
Have you tried reading a real book?, you know, those that don’t have draws on every page, maybe you are experiencing maturity
Just talk about comicbooks that you enjoy.
I exclusively read older comics now. And switching to only the older material has made me enjoy comics more than I have in years.
Sometimes you just have to move on unfortunately
I understand how you feel, it’s a normal part of having a hobby or interest, as others have said the best thing to do is take a break and find another interest. Then after a while you’ll have your interest reignited.
>I still enjoy my favorites.
I would set aside, sell (or if pirated, toss) that backlog you are not interested in if it has been multiple months.
And then take a good long break (at least six months), continue to do what else you enjoy - absent sequential art - and see how you feel then.
Otherwise, relax, go outside.
Breath.
