My main problem is Luke's character and Vader's redemption arc, which are arguably the primary focus to the largely recycled subplots that are occurring.

Vader always wanted to save Luke all along. He was obsessed with finding him, remember? The prequels give us added context - that he loved his wife and didn’t know he even had a son until Episode IV.
Luke sensed that Vader wouldn’t let him die or kill him and gambled on that last sliver of humanity.
Redemption is a Christian theme; Lucas is Christian. I actually love Star Wars in part for that reason; it isn’t cynical in the way that most anti-fascist Hollywood stuff is where the bad guy is always irredeemable.

The failure of the Kinect is so fascinating. Microsoft forcing it on people almost single handed destroyed the entire Xbox brand and it erased all the good will they spent an entire generation building up with the Xbox 360

New and special are pretty relative. I liked the idea of the kinect, the Wii, the Switch, etc... I like what other people might otherwise call gimmicks. Doesn't mean I'm not open to criticizing them.
So no, I would not call the Switch special. It's less competent than the phone in my pocket and considering how fricking shitty it is docked all for the sake of being mobile is such an asspull.
Again, nice idea. Not exactly the most original or revolutionary for the medium or technology in general, but nice. Executed incredibly poorly, and backed up by incompetent first (and third) party developers.

360 was so good that despite everyone getting the red ring of death people would still rather buy another one than buy a ps3. I went thru like 5, maybe 6 during the 360 generation (I bought the first one at launch) and I wouldn’t have done it any other way

Well they fixed this by releasing a non-kinect title years later that's been their most successful of all time.
It is pretty incredible how much they fricked up. Hell, the 360 was a 70 percent failure rate piece of junk hardware wise for a couple years but the damn thing still had so much soul, such a great set up with software, great dashboard, and seamless online, and such a constant stream of games that people were genuinely excited for. Those first few years of 360 were one of the most exciting times ever for gaming imo, and I remember myself and all my friends feeling constantly psyched about it all. Checking out what your friends were doing online, popping out the HDD and bringing it to friends' places, signing in for multiplayer, being amped as frick for everything from Gears of War to Lost Odyssey...... goddamn, good times. And then they got wienery, ruined the whole dashboard set up, rammed Kinect down our throats, forced bad online practices on everyone, a bunch of those exciting new IPs like Gears or Mass Effect shot themselves in the foot, and slowly everyone's excitement drained and by half way through the generation we were all switching to PS3. Amazing how much they fricked it up and what a truly soulless corporation Microsoft is.
