What the frick do you expect, they adapted a series that wasn't even finished yet.
They should have stopped at where the last book finished.
Don't act like we weren't telling you since season 4
I was in denial about how shit it was getting too: https://youtu.be/MCcaBYF0roE
I want this meme to end. Season 1 was god tier kino. There was a constant decline after that. Seasons 2-4 were not enjoyable.
>With this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.
I heard when David Benioff and D. B. Weiss took GRRM out for dinner and asked him to reveal the ending George told them to hold their hands out and then proceeded to unload a 52 minute viscous liquid shit right over their open arms and mouths.
>Oh you want Winds do you?
>BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
>there's your winds
has there ever been a show greater memory holed? it went from something nearly everyone talked about each week to radio silence. They honestly should just remake the last 2 seasons.
I’d honestly say the latter four. The butchery of Robb’s arc was subtle in comparison to what came later, but it’s the real crack in the foundation. There are so many events in Ribb’s Rebellion they could have used to vamp for time, so many things vaguely referenced in the books that they could have run with. I’d go so far as to say there are entire seasons’ worth of material in the Riverlands chapters alone. We *needed* to see Brienne see the gravedigger, for example, and we needed to see the entirety of her and Jaime’s and Sandor and Arya’s travels to really drive home why the High Sparrow became so powerful. It’s actually a reference back to what Varys told Tyrion about power being a trick - the highborn fricked over the smallfolk just a little too much and too often, so they started looking to someone who represents an even higher power.
We could have had entire seasons’ worth of straight misery porn with Winter still looming beyond the horizon.
>The butchery of Robb’s arc
honestly rigged before it began just by casting him older. him being 15 in the books makes alot more sense, and you see more of his character in the books. hes not perfect, hes really kinda the stark joffrey and the only reason hes not as bad is he has people around him to discipline him, and hes not inbred. makes his later mistakes alot more reasonable. in the show it just felt like he pulled a full moron outta nowhere.
>Winter still looming beyond the horizon.
the whole night kings invasion should have been a season or 2 on its own, and taken up most of westeros. they should have made their last stand at kings landing or something. didnt the others take over at least half of westeros or most of the north the last time they invaded 8000 years ago? wasnt it just by the skin of their necks that they survived? did the others just become pussies?
and god dammit patchface is probably the most interesting fricking character in the books and hes not even in the show what the frick
Me too.
better ending than the books
Kino
Teleporting prostitute that is getting fricked in the background for exposition to be less boring is my least favourite trope. and thats a fact! She was like D&D's Oldsmobile delta. Also the show went to shit the instant she died, coincidence?
Same thing as Lost TV show. The Eskimos didn't know how to finish it, and it just slowly got worse and worse. They did it with Dexter too iirc.
D&d said that after season 3, after the red wedding, they would stop caring about the show and eventually just do the last season as two films in order to start their Star Wars film making career.
The show had enough content for 10 plus seasons and the first four seasons were only good because hbo handlers controlled d&d behind the scenes till they huffed their own farts and fired them all. The unaired poorly was a disaster, but the guy who really created hbo with the sopranos had left in scandal and Richard plelpler, who was their documentary head, took over and leadership was lack. They hired d&d for the pilot and it as the most expensive pilot ever. When they went to him to ask about this disaster benioff said “ok, but you already sunk millions into me with the most expensive pilot ever and you need to make that money back”
>HBO
they warned you right up front
It's been said before but truly amazing how quickly this show fell out of cultural relevance. Everybody stopped talking about it, GoT was forgotten. HoTD just didn't work enough to bring the audience back
HotD was pretty good
But like all shows nowadays as soon as it stopped airing nobody cared
GoT had a thing and no show will ever be the same again
The only hope to ever bring GOT-like close to such heights would be Dunk & Egg, but I'm seriously doubting HBO now
it's not dead enough apparently.
George is still stuck in too many side projects and spin offs to finish the books.
>George is still stuck in too many side projects
>implying the poor reception to S8 didn't kill his interest in finishing the books period
>s8
>how the books end
That’s literally not possible. Brian isn’t gonna be king of the seven kingdoms and seven kingdoms becomes a Holy Roman Empire confederation. There is no night king in the books and fake euron vs dang in king’s land and she doesn’t burn down the city. And bronn isn’t leading the reach. And tons of other shit. George told how the fates of the main characters, not how b level characters and below.
yea but jon snow being a targ bastard is really obvious in the books. does that get revealed in the books yet i havent finished them. its not even a big deal but i could see his autist fat ass huffing and puffing over who to make the targ bastard instead of jon just to subvert peoples expectations
I enjoyed Elden Ring more than any of his main projects, maybe he should just drop out and make video games fulltime.
same
>HoTD just didn't work enough to bring the audience back
Yes it did lol, HOTD is a massive success and got more views than GOT did in its first 3 seasons.
I enjoyed season 8 as well as every other season. The Hound vs. the Mountain fight was kino
it's funny how they elected the actual big bad to king at the end
the story literally peaks at the red wedding, nothing that comes after cant beat that moment
scuffed tolkien is a shit writer, you save moments like that for later
Stannis defeating the wildlings at the wall was epic.
Wrong, there are plenty of moments that are just as good in the same book after the red wedding. Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons are kino as well. Feast gets better and better each time you read it on top of that.
I remember watching this with friends and getting relentless shit from my friends because I said the show was already trash midway through season 2. I tried to warn those homosexuals but they didn't listen
So glad I never got invested in it
Would just get drunk and high and some gays (some are dead) would put it on
Red wedding was not fun to watch on blow
Reading the Books makes me want to create an animated series, with the only live character being Tywin Lannister. It can be like who killed roger rabbit
