Mankasa does have a role in the story. It's to murder her crush and 'convince' ymir to delete herself because a life long obsession/crush whilst serving that someone who doesn't/won't love you, but will 'use you' is bad. The whole story being some weird fixed loop (that pretends to earlier to be mutable) where everyone who died 'had' to die to make sure ymir fricked off, is incredibly baffling.

Thats the fault of the translation of the title. Attack on Titan makes it sound like a story about humans fighting for survival, but the more accurate title is closer to attack titan or giant of attack - something that telegraphs Eren's role post transformation. It sounds less like attacking titans and more like using a titan to attack, in japanese.

When Conny shot his comrade in the face that one time instead of just tying him up I completely checked out from all these gay sidekicks.

The last two long episodes of the show literally ruin the entire thing and render most of what you watched moot. The ONE and ONLY thing you’re missing is a cool Floch moment and that’s it. Nothing cool happens, there’s no cool moment like Ervin leading a charge or Eren lifting a rock kind of cool hype moment, no musical cues (in fact, most of the battles have a rock/rap song over them…), there is nothing you’re missing. I guess Hange getting killed was kind of cool but at the same time was completely pointless and she should have just lived. Like, Eren was a man with convictions from the get go, him suddenly being wishy washy and wanting to kill people but at the same time be a good friend or whatever was the stupidest thing of all time easily. The last two eps literally ruined everyone.

It's just a cycle of war story, neither side wants the other to exist because both have declared desire for total annihilation of each other (and their allies) and fully rejected any sort of peace, would have been far better for Marley + allies to deal more damage to paradis, so that the whole MAD situation left paradis fricked as well, instead they come out the victors, whilst killing the few allies they had and leaving enough survivors they seek revenge in a few decades.

What if the beast titan turned half a district into titans on the opposite side of the wall in order to divert erwins forces away from retaking maria? I suppose what I really want is to slow the story down and make better use of this unique, abstract setting. That scenes so bad quality wise that it feels like a different wrong genre of anime sometimes. All the characters look (even more) softer and rounded in some cuts and all the line art and colouring is so simple that its almost really cute looking. They go off model too. Look at this one STATIC picture of eren like they couldnt even get that right and hes fricking front and centre frame.

They did a complete Game of Thrones season 8 on where the story was going, and the second movie is kind of mid despite some badass fights. I already argued with you once in the thread and said for the most part I’m a dub guy. Attack on Titan is the exception because #1 I started watching before there was a dub, #2 a lot of the impactful moments and dialogue doesnt translate well to English.

Does it sound cooler and more authentic and better than a soulless dub? Yes. The thing about the AoT dub is that it was made out of necessity so they could put it on TV in other countries. Something like the DBZ dub had just as much if not way more soul than the original version and they went all out and made it its own thing. The AoT VAs probably literally phoned all their dialogue in and never even saw each other in a studio. Yugioh is another one that comes to mind.

I'd have gone for the 'collect em all' route so that means Shitmin has to die, thus at full 9 titans Eren self terminates or uses the 'rewriting DNA' to remove the curse, but that also means he dies and so too does anyone currently titanized. Ofcourse this is after 99.99% killing the world and a minor Eldian civil war (Eren having to eat some of his friends is the spark that causes them to fight him). The obvious problem with this is that the core goal of saving his friends is failed, but then again in the real story many of his friends die, that he could have prevented, so at best the people he considers 'friends', are just Armong and Mankasa. I also wouldn't do the magic explanation the way it happened, I'd probably just have it be a divine frick up, where a god gifted one idiot with a way to protect her people, but it got bastardized.
