The movie would have been completely captivating even without a single joke. The plausibility of the scenario is frightening.
Are there many other movies that depict aspects of warfare such as encryption, electronic warfare, threat evasion tactics, nuclear safeguards, the human element of a nuclear mission?

this movie got so cucked by having Dr. Strangelove come out earlier that year
it's a decent movie but is basically the same plot

Though somewhat goofy, 'Canadian Bacon' by Michael Moore (yes, that fat bastard) covers some of that territory. And of course there's 'WarGames' (1983).

Buck is hilarious, not to mention the coke machine scene.

Never understood why it's called Doctor Strangelove when he's in it for 5 minutes.k Born in 98, so my daddy didn't show me it as a kid because it was past his time too... Like it more than The Shining or Eyes Wide Shut

My favorite part was when Dr. Strangelove said everyone in the room could have their own harems when they moved underground. I always wondered how that would work. Would trades be allowed between harem managers? Could you give away women for favors or to buy goods? How would you deal with unfaithful women. Or would it be a free for all.

I like the interactions with the general and peter sellers, some of the stuff with that other general in the war room is ok, and then there's the that one soldier that gives the RAF peter sellers characters a hard time calling in the codes
it's overall overrated but I am also sure it's one of those things you had to be there at the time to appreciate

This is still one of the funniest movies of all time, I can't imagine how funny it would've been back in the day. Nowadays a US General having a paranoid breakdown about communists trying to steal his cum is not an abnormal movie plot, imagine being a boomer that grew up on Leave It To Beaver seeing this shit for the first time

I like the movie but I have to admit it is overrated. The only truly funny thing in it the sanctity with which they treat the big board.

It’s one of Kubrick’s weakest, this movie is a speck compared to Barry Lyndon for example.

I watched this entire film without laughing thinking it was 100% serious then I find out its supposed to be a comedy. What the frick?
