I'm watching S3 of Breaking Bad and these guys are taking me the frick out of it. They're that kind of silent "we're badass and we don't look at explosions and we also have skull tipped shoes because we're that cool" kind of villains.
Anyone else have this problem?

breaking bad is not exactly high IQ kino bro
it only pretended to be golden age hbo tier in the first few episodes of s1 that were more about character drama
everything else is cheap thriller drivel

It's kino, but in a comic book/80s action movie kind of way

They are cartoonish characters for sure. But from what I've gathered, Mexican cartel members love gaudy clothes, gold-plated kalashnikovs, exotic pet animals etc.

So I don't believe they are completely unrealistic.

Normally they wouldn't be wearing suits but yeah it's pretty realistic. Especially the part where they'd rather chop you up rather than just shoot you

Breaking Bad is exhausting to watch and somehow to not watch still with some idiot popping up in threads constantly claiming it to be an all time great. The whole thing is a drag. Something straight up moronic, tacky and badly shot happens every 2 episodes. The show is almost a satire of itself with how much it thinks its a drama but is full of silly stuff, it just lacks the humour for it to kind of work.

    >Anyone else have this problem?
The big problem with Breaking Bad and especially Better Call Saul is that they're full of contrivances. Things just happen to get the plot where it needs to be, it doesn't make any sense in hindsight but you're so bewildered by the picturesque nature of it, which the mute twins with the skull shoes completely embody. Nothing about their behaviour makes any fricking sense, there's really no reason for them to be like that every goddamn second.

It gets really bad with Gus in Better Call Saul. At no point is Gus the amicable dude he was in Breaking Bad he's just hard-faced serious man the whole fricking time despite the fact we see him in circumstances where he could actually be as chill as he was with Walt.

I would stop watching Breaking Bad at the end of Season 4. It just gets completely moronic from that point forward.

breaking bad was good for the three or four episodes of s1 where it was a comedy, then it became a drama, but confused people with still including stuff that belonged in a comedy. i dunno. the show sucks. everyone who likes it thinks it's something that it isn't, or isn't on purpose at least

After thinking about it for a few seconds, they're just supposed to cartoonishly oversimplify the cartel's notoriety for being cold and effective killers. Sure, they're absurd, but there's no denying that the Mexican cartels are hideous monsters. If they want someone dead, they're going to die a horrible death that'll end up on whatever site hosts shit since Liveleak's murder.
That's why they don't speak, their actions speak for them as they're merely tools. Just knowing they exist is enough to be scared.
Sorry, I let my painfully high IQ post tonight, lads.

Not gringos over the border though. The mormon massacre in 2019 brought a ton of shit on them and fairly soon after they had their leader arrested after losing government favour.

Real cartel shit would just kidnapp him and take him somewhere where you skin the fricker

Visually, it's scarier than them just holding scalpels. I also don't think there's any point to a public, cartel classic execution because Walter White is a nobody. He gets axe-murdered in his home, so if you know you know, if you're a cop you have no idea what happened.

They are goofy with how hard they try to be badass, but it's mostly fine because they're jobbers. These guys aren't good, they only LARP as cool guys. The only people they can kill are nobodies in the middle of nowhere and one cop who had his back turned. The second they encountered someone who fights back both of them got killed. The twins only appear as the problem to the casual midwit viewer.
The real problems are elsewhere. Like the 70 year old boomer who is a badass who can do anything and kill anyone, he does what the twins were trying to do effortlessly. The problem is Gus becoming this weird superhuman who hides in plain sight and has unseen masterplans running in his head and he can deflect bullets and sense car bombs because he is heckin' BADASS chickenman. Gus and boomer are the real cartoon characters, but the writers got high off their own farts and then turned Walter into an even bigger cartoon. Walter kills them both and you will say his heckin' name because he is le one who knocks and he can snap his finger and 10 different high profile criminals will get assasinated in different jails at the same time.

The real point of no return for the show was the plane crash scene. Everything after that point is a fricking goofy cartoon. There were issues before that like the explosive meth and Walter walking out of a drug den without an issue after blowing the place up, but those were small issues.

I can rewatch The Sopranos, The Shield, The Wire all the time but Breaking Bad is just so dull
