Ruby is the main character for the first time since V3, the fairy tale references are actually plot relevant again, we finally got Bumblebee and White Knight confirmed, the fights are good again (and have been since V6), and Casey knocked it out of the park with the songs. As a wise anon once said, RWBY is good and keeps getting better.

My understanding of the RWBY Fandom is that they do geniually love the show but keep to themselves because they know it's pretty shit in a wider audiences lives and they don't want the conversation to constantly being defending the show

Every time he tried to be a martyr, people in universe just called him out of that.
It IS a girl show. The only reason why Jaune (and Ren and Qrow, for what matter) is/are still there it's because they need heroe dudes who look like cool, but who will never be better than the girls, nor steal their thunder.
Ironically, a lot of the show's best moments are thanks to the male characters.
Another layer of irony is how Qrow's shipped relationships were far more interesting than anyone elses besides Jaune and Pyrrha. Except for Robyn, I liked the dynamic with Ironwood, Winter and Clover. A shame we killed interesting guys off in favor of Robyn the dipshit larping socialist revolutionary. I get Winter since she actually seems to have character and contrasts nicely but it is annoying how they don't let the interesting characters stay around in favor of the dipshit ones.
It's easier to write male characters. Even female writers fail in writing female characters and end turning them into props for the male lead(s)'s development

This show has been awful from the word go and the dude that originally did the fight scenes was an absolutely god-awful choreographer whose terrible, weightless, nonsensical combat ruined Red vs Blue

It had Ruby's teammates be a bunch of oblivious buttholes who couldn't notice their leader was depressed, they learn nothing after their actions helped Salem get what she wanted, Bumbleby makes Blake and Yang care about nothing but themselves, Neo tortures a girl into suicide but get a happy ending anyway, and they claim this season doesn't glorify suicide when it clearly does. I just don't see this show having a satisfying conclusion, so we're not really missing anything if it does end up canceled.
Blake always need someone to defend her. I guess that's how CRWBY see minorities
