Imagine making a movie so bad that you tank one of the most iconic and recognizable brands of the last century.

Imagine making a movie so bad that you tank one of the most iconic and recognizable brands of the last century. Zack Snyder truly is a master of his craft. This was the Chernobyl disaster of motion pictures.

His craft, of course, being making bad movies

I can't believe there are people who believe he's some kind of savant when he literally titled a movie
    >Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice
That sounds like some shit you think sounds cool when you're 8 years old
    >And the next one's gonna be called "Batman v Superman: Justice is Heroes Forever

Why did he use “v” instead of “vs” like they were engaged in some kind of legal dispute?

Unironically because the movie needed to be marketable on social media and "#BVSS" and "#batmanvssuperman" looked too awkward to the marketing team.

What do you think the V in the title of a lawsuit stands for?

Not my fault no one uses that form of the abbreviation outside of this movie and court cases. Take it up with the rest of the world

I wonder why. It's almost like Zack shoves the reason in your face.

I thought it was really great that they actually put Superman on trial and presented some interesting discourse and thought provoking ideas in the back and forth of it all.

        Or...
Wait no, we get a jar of piss and then a cripple jihads the room.

You mean throughout the events of the movie? Where it all culminates at that explosion in the court scene? Really unsubtle, that hack.

Superman never discourses with anyone. The closest he comes is when he's arguing to Perry why he should go after Batman instead of covering sports. Or when he's arguing with Bruce Wayne about why Batman sucks. And Bruce is like "Well I think Superman sucks". Really biting. Definitely a conflict of ideals.

Nothing like The Dark Knight, where hero and villain are constantly presenting themselves as being motivated by greater ideals. A complete, nothing below the surface punch-up.

It wasn't bad. It has some issues, but no more than the same issues the MCU has, or even the Nolan films. Difference is that MCU panders directly to basedhomosexuals who would give their lives to protect the brand and would give them a pass. Critics are the same. Disney invests a lot on publicity and marketing, they aren't going to rip it apart because of it.

This was the movie that did it for me. It permanently killed any and all interest and love I had for the DC super heroes. I’ve been a life-long fan of DC and a life-long Marvel hater, and I didn’t watch any of the MCU movies. But this was so bad. So terrible. So painfully godawful, that I couldn’t even look at Superman and Batman anymore.

I realized that in this day and age, movies rule the world, and these DC movies are unwatchable bad. It’s over for me, I’m now 100% a MCU/Marvelgay, and I couldn’t be happier. Enjoy your Black Adam and shitty DCU reboot, chuds.

I felt the same way, anon. Though I will say, I think the Shazam movies are worth your time. They were done sort of on the sidelines, barely connected and they have a lot of soul. The closest modern equivalent to something like Raimi's Spider-Man.

      > The ultimate cut was amazing
It’s slightly better. I’ll give it points for not being utterly incoherent like the theatrical cut, but that should really be the bare minimum in terms of audience expectations.

    >let’s kill Superman in the second movie. It makes perfect sense and everyone will be devastated by the gravity of such loss
Goddamn. I had almost completely forgotten the plot of this movie. It’s so fricking bad. Holy shit. Zack Snyder had the audacity to try and make it seem like I should care about this character he continually refuses to write dialogue for. Honest to god, if you told me Superman had no dialogue in Man of Steel, I’d really have to rack my brain to prove you wrong.

You could kill Superman in the first movie and have it carry weight, it's all about execution. The problem is mostly that Snyder never had a take on the character.

Man of Steel spends the majority of the first half cutting to flashbacks of different young actors who aren't Henry Cavill playing Clark at different stages in his childhood, with no real narrative flow between them.

But then when it comes time to show him in the present, the movie IMMEDIATELY launches into action-mode and doesn't let up until the very last 5 minutes. He also gets the name "Superman" and the reporter persona completely off screen. The movie almost seems embarrassed to call him Superman when they do.
      >Sorry sir, it's what they're calling him.
Then in BVS and Zack Snyder's Justice League he barely has any lines or presence. Snyder was clearly more interested in doing his Frank Miller Batman story.

By the time he dies in BvS you don't care simply because you don't know him and you don't have a sense of his weight or meaning in the world outside of a single montage of news pundits bickering.

It's not Zachary's fault that the execs wanted to force an extended universe so fast. What the frick were they thinking? They should have done two solo movies for Superman and one solo movie for each of the other justice league characters before they tried justice league.
And B v S is still at least a 6/10 despite the rush job

Are these posts satire? They've been parroting the same crap for 10 years now. Do you really think Fellowship of the Ring needed 10 solo movies leading up to it?

thats not the point you dumb Black person we need atleast one batfleck movie before batmanvsuperman

The whole movie aside, people don't really give Chris Terrio (and apparently Ben Affleck too) enough credit for making the script for BvS as serviceable as it is.
The original script held by WB for at least a decade was too dark for even Zack and they have to come up with an immediate follow-up to Man of Steel. Turning the aforementioned film's climax into a 9/11 parallel was a great idea. Not to mention flipping the dynamics of the two titular characters.

Snyder's issue is that he listened to all the nerdy criticism of Man of Steel and then tried to remedy it instead of saying frick the the nerds that will nitpick no matter what.

I really liked the Ultimate Edition of this movie and I can't understand why people keep calling this movie terrible and crap and all these negative descriptions. It's incredible watching these super humans and villains being motivated by psychological motives versus collecting shit and saving the world.

He clearly wanted to adapt TDKR and he should have just done that. Everything about the film that wasn't the warehouse fight or directly ripped from TDKR sucked. That being said, those two scenes are probably the best action we've had for either character on film. Shame they're trapped in such a mediocre movie.

Henry if you’re in this thread I just want you to know that we know you did the best you could, none of this is on you. Same with the Witcher. Just keep punching champ.

Also, Jesse Einsburg’s lex luther was fricking kino and also had the best character musical theme of any superhero franchise
