Yeah pretty much this. Anyone who learns anything is learning it from a source that one inevitably is influenced by Christianity. Even if you're a edgy atheist, you have to admit its an effective and evolutionarily positive mind virus, especially on an metric of species and group success in the long run. I think a lot of the current "arguments" between leaderships would be fixed by amending the church understanding of "almighty omnipotent GAWD" to maybe "Little g God", but that's a whole different discussion. Something to bridge the gap between traditional religion and expanded scientific understanding.

Man, it's overly convoluted shit like this that reminds me why a sun worship is the simple and rustic answer to religion.

It's been there every morning giving us the energy required for all life on this planet everyday since anything that could be called our ancestors crawled out of the muck. And it keeps coming back, every morning. It's right there, you can look right at it, and you can feel it's warmth on your skin.

I really think Sun worship is the thinking man's religion.

Maybe. But currently, it's been ignored as a major religion for some time..replaced by deities who...uhhh...haven't showed up for a while. Jesus showed up one time and we're still very much into him 2000 years later...seems that something we can look at personally everyday would qualify better.

      Anonymous

holy shit, I unironically think about this sometimes, how worshipping the sun seems like the most logcal thing, and how im suprised very few religions actually do.

        Anonymous

That's all I'm saying. It's right there, it has been since forever, we know now that all life on our rock depend on it (we couldn't exist without it watching over us) and after every dark night, for all of human existence, it rises in the morning and in some days...not every 2000 years...you can literally look up at it and ~feel~ it's life sustaining rays on your skin.

It just...makes more sense to me. If I'm gonna "worship" something why not the 5 billion year old nuclear reactor that's within view every day of everyone's lives?

        Praise SOL, unironically.

Who placed the sun, though? Did it will itself into being and existence? Did it come forth from prior life, as your mother and father begat you? Yeah, it exists in perpetuity in terms of human time, but from whence did it begin?

If simple longevity is all it takes for divine worship, why not worship the stone in your backyard? It has existed before you were born, it will exist each day you wake up, and it will continue to exist long after you are dead.

Or is it the energy itself that the sun exudes to bring forth life? Then why not worship water? Or air? No life could exist without water or air either, and so too will they exist long after you are gone.

...yeahhh, except we clearly know now that all that water and air and carbon come from the sun too. Again, it all literally can't exist here in the form it does, where we can use it and exist, without the sun being exactly where it is. Don't overcomplicate the issue, that's why we're looking for an alternative in the first place...

No one is saying the sun in sentient...but it exist, and we couldn't exist without it. If someone placed it there...have they told us? Seems arbitrarily and off topic...it was there yesterday, it was there today, and it'll be there tomorrow. Visible and warm.

The rocks all started after the sun was there and formed from it's carbon.

Do you have...an better option? A more clean and beneficial one that we can see and experience everyday?

Not them, but skills have nothing to do with debate anymore. I've made intelligent arguments backed up by cold facts for decades, and it didn't do any good at all. Why? Because people are set in their ways.

Lucid dreaming...sometimes it sticks, many times it doesn't...but even at the best of times, you know the veil of reality there is one wayward thought or decision away from dissolving into shadows and being forgotten minutes after awakening.

God? No. A god, maybe. Little G. What was different about the presence at the prism is this...it is ~solid.~ It weighs in your mind and creates an indentation of memory and feeling that does not evaporate with the day. It is a real memory, as far as one can be. It was solid, and it was white hot with repulsive energy...not unpleasant, but pushing outward. It was...unaffected and unconcerned by my presence. I only ever saw it once. And I can recall the feel to this day. I wanna say it was more female than male, but no form. Just white hot solid existence.

Well, honestly I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding your inability to differentiate between basic concepts about showing appreciation for a real and physical and beneficial thing that we all see and experience every day, and holding faith for a giant imaginary morality test that doesn't actually interact with us on any meaningful level until after we die.

One is much simpler and makes a lot more sense on a basic level than the other.

Or do you think that something has to be consciously done by an all known Creator to be a good or positive for us as a species?
