Iman Vellani Discusses How YOUNG AVENGERS Brings New Perspectives To The MCU

>”They have perspectives that the older Avengers don't, especially because they've had to deal with the repercussions of the Blip, but they're also a fan of the older Avengers. I think they’ll be way more functional than the Avengers were, especially with Kamala being in charge. I think she's a natural-born leader and can set the tone in a really wonderful way. She is mature and intelligent, and she also has all this knowledge about being superheroes and teamwork and how to do it in a way that's ideal and works for everyone.”

>”I think they'll definitely be a group that a lot of the younger audiences can resonate to and relate to way more. I think their opinions on social justice issues and just the world in general and what's needed is way more relevant. They feel like a group that will understand humanity and the value of human life way more than the older group does because they're in it, right? They have relationships there. They're in school, they have their friends, they have their idols and their mentors. And I think all of those relationships will ground this group way more than a billionaire and a guy who was frozen from the 1940s. They're definitely way more aware of reality.”

What's interesting about this is that Disney tried this in the comics over ten years ago when they bought Marvel and it failed spectacularly and resulted in low sales for all their comics. If they would've used that as market research they would have tried something else. Instead, they doubled down and thought it would work in the movies. Disney truly is run by idiots that think they know more than their consumers.

I wonder if they're betting on a decade of zoomers growing up and demanding this stuff, as well as relying on social media buzz to carry their nonsense compared to how it was in the past? Don't get me wrong its still shitty , but they don't stop and seem to feel vindicated, if they can control the narrative on social media. Just like with the latest Spider Man 2 vidya - I literally througt that Miles Morales advanced suit thing was a fricking parody as was his role in the end of the story ( they COULD salvage it by bringing back Peter for either DLC expansions and/or a Spider Man 3 game).

Honestly the entire Falcon and Winter Soldier series dealt with that and was one of the better "political" Marvel movies/series. The bad guy organization were Flagsmashers who were basically all the people who were pissed that, after 5 years of changes in society, borders, resources etc..from half the population fricking vanishing, were told to get back into their box and go back to normal when the Blip happened . A few of them got ahold of Captain America Perfected serum (which I thought was kind of shitty that it didn't change you physically anymore, you'd be a 4 foot nothing blob with super powers instead of an ubermensch )and started striking back at the various gov'ts. There was also the thing with Who Will Be New Cap, watching NewCap / US Agent lose his shit and decapitate someone with the shield, all the stuff with Falcon and Winter Soldier (who its confirmed that Buckey has a similiar form of the serum as original Cap did as well as the soviet then wakanden super arm), Baron Zemo makes common cause with a few of them to put an end to the serum because he hates superheroes and the idea of the serum (who is an actual Solkovian noble) and a bunch of other shit, with the ending basically being a major indictment of the "elites" and the govts they control fricking up and that people should expect better of them.

Honestly the whole thing would have hit a frickload different if it wasn't made pre-COVID and released after the pandemic started and everyone kinda was thinking of the next paradigm.

Sounds better on paper than it looked in action. You left out all the parts that everybody hated (75% of the show).

Eh, there was other character driven stuff and I didn'twant to spoil it al, but yeah there were thingsI didn't think they handled as well but it was still worthwhile if it wasn't through no fault of its own bad timing landing during the early phases of the COVID19 Pandemic. A lot of the Falcon stuff got heavy handed and made some stupid decisions, but at least they tried to use it to contrast him with the "elites who are running things in govt/corp/various depts ", but it could have ended better with some changes.

homosexual and Winter Cuckdier was the reason I dropped Marvel. US Agent did LITERALLY nothing wrong.

Oh frick off, on the slim chance you're not just drooling /misc/homosexualy, he fricked up when he was supposed to be the symbol of American Exceptionalism , that the "old order " was fine if it was being executed by a good enough person the way Cap was. He made a HUGE PR error by losing his shit, executing someone needlessly and gruesomely on essentially worldwide broadcast, in a way that Cap would have not done so. He is still not a horrible person entirely, but he didn't have the kind of unshakable ethos of Golden Age borne Cap - he'll be redeemed as US Agent, but this guy faltered even against those that were more or less on his level, when Cap didn't against those vastly more powerful than he was.

Even after Cap lost Bucky or found the locked up the Howling Commandos he didn't just go on a random murder spree of anyone who was not a threat/surrendering etc.. Hell, Zola fricking taunts him on the train and he doesnt just gut the guy there.
                >Something Rogers did routinely.
Where? He had tons of potential to basically execute others, including those that would his later opponents (ie those in the elevator when the Hydra sleepers, including his old lieutenant) but he didn't. Yeah he killed people, but it wasn't out of anger, vengeance, or just losing his shit the way that New Cap did - he always felt that it was either part of the mission, attempting to save more lives etc
                >Cap just dropped three helicarriers on a government facility in the middle of US city causing deaths of hundreds of innocent personnel and then went 'lmao eat shit you need us' via Romanov during congressional hearing.
Okay, this one is just bullshit. He dropped those carriers with the help of many others, including a lot of SHIELD personnel that were on his side once things were explained, many who worked right below where they'd be dropping. Hell there's a whole scene where a bunch of those VTOL pilots say "Hey, we've gotta help Cap!" and move to do so before getting fricked up by Hydra aligned units, Winter Soldier etc. At the hearing he's fricking pissed that he'd been lied to, that SHIELD had been infiltrated by HYDRA and obviously a bunch of bureaucrats saying well see here, you should have listened to the HYDRA aligned director because he was the director and let those INSIGHT carriers just kill any freethinking person who may be a future threat to their plans is some shit. Yeah Falcon and Winter Soldier, a sequel to 3 Captain America movies that were all mostly normie conflicts suddenly became about a purple alien magicking half of all humans away and then another guy magciking them back instead of just being another thriller setup, where American veterans refuse to call people terrorists or get mad at terrorism, which is totally how modern Americans vets are, they're fine with terrorism and get mad when you kill terrorists, that's how the American people view terrorists.

God I hate that show. So goddamned moronic.

This is a level of irony both in and out of the film, honestly. They spent 10 years building up the purple magic alien and all his magical maguffins, then had to deal with the shit that happened after the snap and blip. Those same soldiers and governments had to come back and deal with a "new normal" of a world when shit happened.
            >terrorists
This is the big irony that you missed what the entire show was saying and also the entire post 9/11 arc of US actual foreign policy - if you fail to understand why people are fighting and respond properly, all you do is create more blood, more terrorists, more horrors. The whole
            >who's more the terrorists, the people who were fricked over and finally got a chance after the Snap fight for their place in the world, or the Blip returned people and gov'ts telling them with all their power to go back to getting shit on.
            >The answer is both and neither,in that you frickers, especially those in power who claim theyknow what's good for everyone, should have been able to figure out how to sort this shit out for everyone's benefit and its embarrassing they didn't because they are still thinking in the old paradigm of wealth and power and what's acceptable by that.

she means The Blip on a smaller scale. It's effect on society, family relations, etc. For a 50 year old man, 5 years (blip) is nothing. To teenagers, 5 years is world ending.

The thing that tells me she's speaking from a script and not her own thoughts is the fact that Marvel comics published the same words almost 10 years ago in a book called "The Champions". Pic related. It was written by an absolute boomer with delusions of woke grandeur. But the premise of the book is essentially what Iman is regurgitating.

Patriot, the grandson of the OG black super soldier, was in Falcon and Winter Soldier. In the comics, his powers came from a super drug harvested from mutants, before he kicked the habit and got injured requiring a blood transfusion from his super soldier grandpa, which gave him the serum. There was some rights issues with the character, which was why he was hardly in Young Avengers, and that may have been why he is MIA in the movies too.

Loki is the only thing the MCU has shit out that I actually enjoyed. And I mean that literally because nothing in the infinity saga peaked my interest besides Thor 1 and that was only slightly because Dark World was shit and put and end to anything I enjoyed very quickly. It all just felt like mindless entertainment, like something to see if my friends wanted to go to the movies for the hell of it. But after seeing Loki with actual character drama, acting, hand crafted sets, and a proper redemption arc focused story changed my perception on what MCU slop could be. And I'm worried because the one thing I like is drowning in a sea of filth. I will never find out what happens next to these characters and the TVA without being disappointed. I don't know how to feel but I definitely feel bitter. Someone needs to grab Hiddleston and Wilson and put them in an original production that isn't controlled by Kevin Feige's cheap thrill shit circus and the mouse.

Season 1 has a fair bit of character drama for many characters, that was good. The ending of season 2 is interesting but it nullifies the entire season and how characters are contextualized.
