What? No, it isn't. It's regarded by anyone who has heard of it as shit. Because that's what it is, it's shit.

Most people haven't heard of this trash. You ask most people their opinion on Mulholland Drive they'll have no idea what you're talking about

the best films have something to say about the human condition, about life and death, pain and suffering, tragedy and redemption. trials and tribulations. a slice of life. a narrative. characters who do things to advance the plot. themes.

lynch doesn't do any of that. he makes feature length music videos. there is no greater point or anything of substance. he thinks of things that will look cool and spoopy on film and then films it, plot and story be damned.

The problem with Mulholland Drive isn't that it's some deep, impossible to understand story with dozens of layers. It's that it's not but people still act like it. inb4 the usual retorts

Lynch is definitely an overrated filmmaker.
It wouldn’t be so bad if his fans weren’t such insufferable c**ts. They really turn me off wanting to watch any of his films and just assuming (usually correctly) that it’s mediocre, pretentious shit gussied up with on-the-nose metaphor and cringeworthy allegory.
