The latest books are hinting that Xavier just mind edits the clones into exactly what he needs for Krakoa and doubled down hard on the Animal Farm frickery with Mole. Even with all their reality warpers wishing bodies/infinite resources up for the clones, Jackal's been able to do the same thing and give precious "souls" to his clones by himself without 5 plot McGuffins.
in spencer's spider-man run, doctor strange confirmed that lizard's son has his original soul despite him being a clone, so it sets up that if there isn't an alive original running around that the original's soul goes into a new clone after the original's death
basically cloning and resurrecting are now the exact same thing unless there's multiple clones at once
