Yes. It’s the worst execution of the Goblin story I’ve ever seen. So Harry is Hobgoblin first, because 90s ASM references are in now, then Norman fakes his death, becomes Hobgoblin, then a green goblin venom hybrid? The frick?
He posed as Hobgoblin first, then faked his death, and then returned as the Dark Goblin, who is essentially a palette swap of Red Goblin from the comics.
Okay, this is all sad, so what you like or think 'it was not so bad' of idea?
I like episodes with Lady Ock and Hippo and Pandamania, they're were fun.
I like most of VAs.
Yes. It made Ultimate Spider-Man good by comparison.
She is cute, though and I like her design.
Not really. I actually enjoyed it. If you move past the animation issues, & certain ideas, but overall its actually pretty
>It made Ultimate Spider-Man good by comparison
Wrong. It doesn't. That version is awful. This atheist made some improvements

I don't know why you think this cartoon made Ultimate Spider-Man better? It's actually a slight improvement & not overall annoying. Ultimate Spider-Man was the inferior version compared to this

This show avoided the cringy sketch comedy that infected all of USM. It’s an improvement on that alone.
They're both equally shit and deserve to be erased from history.

Had decent one offs but every single multi-episode arc fell flat. Worst thing they did was redeem Ock into Pete's tech support then when he got killed off bring in some other random fat dweeb to take over the role despite Pete only taking Ock up on the offer because he knew the secret and was the better engineer.
Yeah, the lack of a coherent vision really hurt the show, arguably far more than the mediocre animation or ugly art style. They didn't even assemble the team until late season two. And you could tell there were struggles on what stories the creative team wanted to tell vs. Marvel's mandates.
Well, it didn't have Drake Bell as its main VA and Family Guy-tier cutaway gags, I'll give it that.
But beside Ultimate it was by far the worst Spider-Man cartoon.
The artstyle is fine. The animation and shot to shot sequencing was some of the worst I've seen for a professional production in a while.
On top of that while the art style is fine outside of the unessacary eye highlights, the characters clash hard with the symplistic cell-shaded backgrounds.
I don't think it was due to a lack of talent, but the whole thing smells of really disorganized art and animation direction.
None of the Disney animated marvel shows are bad, just absolutely boring and lackluster. They really seem to only exist to fill some corporate quota that there HAS to be animated shows of these characters. All of them are team-up shows, but none of them ever have any interesting interactions or really any purpose to be there, and it seems like they just exist so kids will be familiar with them for the inevitable MCU appearance.
Most of that merch wasn't actually made for the show, but it was just generic branding stuff that got confused with the show, partly due to the show's generic name. That's why the villains in that stuff look very different from how they are in the show.
It made it more confusing when the artist for that art work did some work for season 3.
I'm pretty sure this has happened with pretty much every Spider-Man related property over the years. How are people still so confused by it? There was Raimi movie merchandise with branding from the cartoons on it and vice versa. That's just what happens when all the cartoons, movies and comics are just called Spider-Man.
This video does a pretty good job of laying out pretty much everything wrong with the show, if you can get past the guy's voice.
Some personal gripes I have are >lack of shading >no meaningful drama or romance >way too long >emphasis on technology >no memorable music or characters
Also Peter's VA makes me want to tear my ears out. He's worse than Drake Bell.
I've rewatched all three X-Men shows and am halfway through EMH. I know Spectacular Spider-Man is good, so I'll do that next. Any other Marvel cartoons worth watching now?
The show is very well made for setting up characters and plotlines episodes in advance. As well as just covering a lot of spider-man stories in a short amount of time. The fans demanding a revival rather than just a simply good coherent show are annoying though
Honestly… pacing and characters.
They tried to do a frickton of newer storylines and then squeeze them into 2.5 seasons.
Ex. Peter gets the symbiot and he starts talking about how it makes him angrier.. but at this point he has had it for a few hours at best.
If the producers had stretched it over say.. 4-5 episodes and we as viewers see how he starts to solve every problem with punching or something compared to use science.. We would go “oh yeah.. Petey has been on the aggro side lately”
But there’s also the whole “Peter faces stronger opponents so he has to use his wits to defeat then” showing that Peter is a genius.
Just like Miles. And Gwen. And Anya.. and Harry, Warren, Max and pretty much everyone in the goddamn show. When everyone is a genius, then nobody is a genius.
Even the goddamn Rhino was a student of Brainiac High.
And what was this of Miles’ dad being Swarm? >I wanna make Harlem safe for my genius kid! >LOL who wants to see superhero battles to the death on pay-per-view??? XD
What the hell mr. Morales? That was an asspull
That's big mouth tier ugly
Yes.
I remember some people saying that the simpler style would help the animation, but it looked worse than most superhero cartoons.
Spectacular was the one that did that.
this one was just trash
Spectacular was shit.

Except way weaker
Not really, but still need to work with all this writing. And the designs, but it's a matter of taste.
It managed to improve Knull, so there’s that
how did the show improve it?
He only created 4 symbiotes, instead of all of them, and once he won his war with the celestials he fricked back off into nothingness.
And most of that lore was dumped in some YouTube-exclusive short instead of in the show itself.
Yeah, still. I’ll take improvements to Symbiote lore where I can get them
Okay, this is all sad, so what you like or think 'it was not so bad' of idea?

Wrong. It doesn't. That version is awful. This atheist made some improvements
They're both equally shit and deserve to be erased from history.
Both exist for the audience it was aiming for at the time, but only one is the worst version & it was helped by Bendis
At least this cartoon showed improvement, & you're just making nonsense because its not a repeat if the same story we've seen every time
>Defending Slott shit over Bendis shit
Fricking lmao, you are just one lone autist.
For you to defend Bendis is just sad & shows you understand nothing
Yeah this show was dogshit. Even more soulless than ultimate Spider-Man and I didn’t think that could be possible.
I just can't get over the animation
Why didn’t any of you fricks tell me that Spectacular is n Netflix?
Designs and animation are the worst Spider-Man ever was, no competition. All clips I've seen look exactly like USM just with zero budget.
Seasons 1 and 2 were horrid.
I'm glad the F4 weren't dragged into this shit.
Had decent one offs but every single multi-episode arc fell flat. Worst thing they did was redeem Ock into Pete's tech support then when he got killed off bring in some other random fat dweeb to take over the role despite Pete only taking Ock up on the offer because he knew the secret and was the better engineer.
Marvel wants to have there cake and eat it too with Peter being a rookie superhero while all the legacy characters are around as well
Yeah, the lack of a coherent vision really hurt the show, arguably far more than the mediocre animation or ugly art style. They didn't even assemble the team until late season two. And you could tell there were struggles on what stories the creative team wanted to tell vs. Marvel's mandates.
Problem is, both sets of stories, mandates and what the crew wanted, were shit.
Yes.
Well, it didn't have Drake Bell as its main VA and Family Guy-tier cutaway gags, I'll give it that.

The only good thing
Looks like bootleg she-ra.
It looks even uglier. The backgrounds especially.
Meanwhile Spectacular is ...fitting its name.
The artstyle isn’t even that bad

Yep.
>see spider-man 2099 on a shopping bag in dollar store
>never shows up in the show
Why must they bait us?

Yes.
Why do you think it would look better through the rear-view mirror?
This video does a pretty good job of laying out pretty much everything wrong with the show, if you can get past the guy's voice.

>drama or romance
Why does this need to be in a kids show?
Makes it better. Spectacular had that in droves and was much better than this dumpster fire.
I agree that i thought it was really lame to have this stuff in kid's shows but Spider-Man sort of has a perquisite for romance and drama
>drama
Needed
>romance
I would LIKE to see BettyPeter and PeterLiz, with no Mary Jane or Gwen until College.
>does this need to be in a kids show
no
>No romance
Doesn't Make show up towards the end of the show
>Peter's VA makes me want to tear my ears out
The guy only has 2 deliveries: nasally wimp and sometimes surfer brah. It's fricking terrible
He was a shit hunter in the Spyro remakes too
hate his voice but good video
The Superior Spider-man story arc was the best
It's honestly kind of sad how Otto ended up being a more developed and likable character than Peter was on his own show.
>Dan Slott credited
I liked it and I came across to it by accident and with zero expectations. Doc Oc character development was well done.
Yes
Someone post that MJ edit.
No
It was too racist for my taste
I've rewatched all three X-Men shows and am halfway through EMH. I know Spectacular Spider-Man is good, so I'll do that next. Any other Marvel cartoons worth watching now?
>Any other Marvel cartoons worth watching now?
Spider-Man's TAS might seem wacky, but it's worth the watch.
Is spectacular actually good though? I’m down 4 episodes and it has been lukewarm for the most part.
I have no idea honestly, I was just told as much
it could be shit for all I know
The show is very well made for setting up characters and plotlines episodes in advance. As well as just covering a lot of spider-man stories in a short amount of time. The fans demanding a revival rather than just a simply good coherent show are annoying though
out of all of them this well felt like it was specifically tailored for kids while the others had a somewhat light focus on kids
Honestly… pacing and characters.
