Still kind of rooting for the Cobra Commander book to use the cartoon origin for him though. If there was ever a new continuity where they could pull it off, it's this one.

Wait, what? When did this happen? I read the first issue of IDW's final GI Joe relaunch, and I don't remember that happening. Are you sure you aren't thinking of the opening to the second live action GI Joe movie?
I don't know why they don't just have a GI Joe series and then think about character-specific spinoffs later. Or is the idea that ARAH is now the main Joe book again?
This is a mini-series to introduce since G.I. Joe doesn’t exist yet in-universe. It’s been heavily teased that G.I. Joe’s creation is due to the arrival of the Transformers and rise of Cobra. Once this and Cobra Commander end, they’ll probably be combined into one series.
Ah right I forgot this is part of a shared universe now. I'm not crazy about the idea but I like the way Skybound does things generally so I'll see how it goes.

What are the odds Hasbro will demand the new comics be more apolitical compared to IDW?
