The real Captain America dies in WW2 and that Captain America frozen through time is just government lies

Funnily enough there's actually substantial proof for this to be legit if you consider Commie Smasher Cap

Yeah, they retconned post WW2/pre Avengers Cap into being a different guy wearing the costume while Steve was on ice, and I believe that info is public info in universe. Especially since if you consider that canonically he went insane and turned rogue there's a justification to sweep him under the rug and pretend like his replacement is the one true Captain America coming back.

Now exactly what the angle would be for keeping this secret is I can't quite piece together

Something or someone on a regular basis is turned regular professional criminals super villain into psychopathic edgelord. The superhero Community knows about it to the extent they don't even hold it against the supervillains case in point when black cat became a Mafia Boss for a few weeks and absorption man supposed rape baby but both of them coming back into cloudkid we acceptable criminals who the superheroes can stand.

That actually happened in a Batman comic with the riddler

Do you mean the he was making normal criminals into edgelords or somebody did it to him? And do you have any comic image of it?

No it's the one where riddler gets possessed by demon, and kills a baby

You know, that can actually be an interesting plot. Would certainly explain why some villains like Wrecking Crew go from regular blue collar criminals to murderous psychos who murder whole buses of children for shit and giggles.

      >absorption man supposed rape baby
That was, in-universe, from Creel's earliest days as super-villain.
He was a regular shitbag criminal before getting powers.

He got MUCH chiller over time, especially once he met Titania

An actual conspiracy theory from Doomsday clock. Almost all superhumans made after Superman are government made experiments.
With DC super power serums such as Connor's man bat serum, or firestorm being paid government projects.

I've always wanted to see a comic exploring superheroes with a geopolitical angle. It seems like there are so many that touch on it but I've never read any fully exploring that premise.

The problem is that either superheroes become part of their nation army or have to become a global peaceforce(De facto global police probably by forcing every government to work with them or else) that would be the only outcome i can see bring realistic

          >The problem is that either superheroes become part of their nation army
Yes, that's what I meant. Governments having/ seeking out human WMDs to keep in their back pocket.

How was this conspiracy angle resolved? Was it ever resolved even? I honestly can't remember if Doomsday wiener concluded that plotline.

A pity. That was the most interesting part of the comic for me. Was the conspiracy just never brought up after DC ended?

It isnt, is johns and was a moronic idea that needs superamerican exeptionalism to work

With DC super power serums such as Connor's man bat serum, or firestorm being paid government projects.

That was so extremely moronic and shortsighted. Johns has always been a moron but this was one of the most insulting and pathetic things he has ever done. How the frick would this make sense in a world that is aware of atlantis or paradise island? how that that make sense with aliens flying around? European and African magic users, gods and all that shit. The metagene was never an American thing, competent writers always dismissed the amount of superheroes in America as a focus thing, is not that only America has superheroes is that we focus on their stories, this reeks of American exceptionalism. Also, you gotta love how a watchmen sequel confuses china and russia and nobody says anything, this got printed and the editor, johns and the artists ignored it.

Instead of being accused of being reptilians, every person in any position of power is accused of being a Skrull. Or a mutant. Or an evil robot.

ho are some real life politicians who would accuse the enemies of being mutants?

        Anonymous

Not to start a political shitflinging but Reagan would probably have very casually accussed anyone and everyone of being one. Trump would also probably liberally use "mutie" but he would never directly say so-and-so was a mutant without evidence.

Anyone who'd accuse their opponent of being a "commie" or "nazi" for wanting taxes 1.3% higher or lower wouldn't hesitate to call someone a mutant.

I don't think that's a conspiracy theory unless Carol got a whole bunch of scientists to make her a dick?

It's a conspiracy theory if people believe she somehow impregnated Spider-Woman with a dick or not is not important they just believes she's the dad.

The Joker dosent exist and every once in a while batman just puts a different lunatic in the costume so he can justify his existence.

While not the same, there was an Elseworlds which had a future Gotham making people take on The Joker's mantle in some sort of ritual.

In the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen universe a lot of American superheroes (Superman explicitly) were made by the government and Hollywood as propoganda after their only super human Hugo Danner was killed by Hugo Hercules (on Clark Savage, Sr.'s behest).

is this an actual plot point or a conspiracy people believe in that universe?
