Why even keep them around at this point? They don't have the marketability with normies like the Avengers and X-Men.

They've barely appeared in comics in years after Marvel cancelled their books, what more do you want? Marvel to just kill characters they're not using just because they also own other characters?

Classic Inhumans would probably be more marketable and less weird and alien to normies than modern X-Men is, too.

      Anonymous

Why did they cancel their books, genius?

        Anonymous

Those books weren't remotely "classic Inhumans", and the MCU should already have taught you people that which characters normies like and which characters comic nerds like aren't necessarily the same thing.

But again, a cancelled book is no reason to permanently kill off characters. Imagine if they'd done that to the X-Men when they got cancelled at the end of the 60s.

They should have just made Kamala a mutant from the start. It would have allowed more focused storytelling. I only remember Kamala meeting the Inhumans once, and her Inhuman lineage is on track to be retconned away within a few years.

How? She's a mutant now it's tossed out half her characterization and got rid of most of her supporting cast. If anything having an origin unique to her would be an improvement. Being mutant hasn't and wouldn't have helped her at all. Being another face in x-crowd has done frick all for decades of mutant OCs.

Honestly, it would have been pretty cool. This Krakoa bullshit where all mutants abandon their lives to live on an island is cancer. Kamala should have been written as a outsider mutant with her own stories, who only teamed up with X-Men on special occasions.

Depending on how you want to look at it, Krakoa, the resurrection crew, and the future Krakoans we saw could all be argued as slaves. The former since they're indispensable for the society existing and cannot be allowed to not perform their role and the latter in that they're granted powers in accordance to the needs of the state for the purpose of carrying out their orders.

Well, she's a mutant now, and it hasn't done her any better than when she was an Inhuman, so I guess the issue wasn't that she wasn't a mutant, it's just that they knew frickall of what to do with the character past her first book.

No it wouldn't, it would just have sucked her into X-Men stories about how oppressed mutants are. Forever. As soon as Marvel eventually give up on her own books she'd end up abandoning her human family to live in The Mutant Community. Nobody who likes her should have ever wanted that.

I have always seen the Inhumans as a fun novelty, but they don’t need a lot of appearances. Mutants are more versatile characters and have better stories.

I think you could do well to spread them around a bit if not have them be a central figure. Crystal was on the Avengers and F4 and Medusa was used pretty often. I would say only Black Bolt is too big a gun to over use.

Same reason they still make anything that isn't Avengers X-men, Variety. Besides while they are nowhere near A-listers like the X-men or Hulk they still sell decent relative to other properties. More than a lot of 10s legacy characters and all those characters that randomly got a solo or mini because they showed up in the mcu like Shang chi, blade, Captain carder, ect.

The problem is they didn't really care about pushing the existing Inhumans characters. Perlmutter only cared about the Inhuman concept as a madlibs swap for the basics of the X-Men and that's why so much of the push involved a bunch of new, conventially attractive, teenage characters with X-Men style uniforms and generic powers instead of the usual freaks they were known for.

They're interesting as the weirdo neighbors down the street that you very rarely see outside, and when they do come out greet you, you're almost apprehensive about what they want. They should be friendly overall and willing to lend a hand when needed, but you should be quickly reminded that they have their own shit going on and that they're just as likely to work in their own interests in contradiction to yours, but nothing overtly hostile, since they don't have plans to conquer, replace, or frick over humanity in general, but they do have their own people to account for first.

Yeah it's amazing how much of their entire schtick Marvel has tried to throw out to try and make them protagonists.
