I can't recall why I watched Digimon subbed for the first time. I also watched Hamtaro subbed at the same time because I wanted to see what it was like in the Japanese original. Both were much much better than their dubbed counterparts.
Anyway after those I just watch everything in sub. I will say that the InuYasha dub is quite good and retains ALL original OST and songs, which is quite astounding. It doesn't really change anything as far as I know, MAYBE a few localization things for Japanese references that Westerners simply wouldn't get.
i won't say that isn't kino. it is.
but the faulconer dub cannot be topped. the partial re-characterization of some of the characters was needed, they are better characters for it. the music adds more to it than the japanese music does.
The original Jap opening is kino but the original Jap score is repetitive ass. Every theme is fundamentally the same composition. The Bruce Faulconer is so fricking unique from theme to theme you'll remember each one vividly until your brain rots in the ground

Toei are masters of visual filler to get 22 minutes of animation, or “animation”, a week. See the Sailor Moon transformation sequences or DBZ screaming.
I enjoyed each time. It never got bored and it was quite the feeling when you knew that something special was happening. To this fricking day I remember how eerie it was to watch SkullGreymon first appearance, the black screen on the Digivice and all. There were also a few hopeless moments where the transformation was silent. It was haunting.
I watched the entire first two season with my femboy bf and I have no idea how as a kid I tolerated an over 30s long animation I've seen a hundred times. There was only episode where it was 5 literal minutes of transformations. I know we complain about modern cartoons being hot garbage but at least they don't purposefully waste your time to fill dead air.

No, there was a few moments of hand holding while watching a movie when we were young teens but it never progressed. The sheer fear we had of my father putting me in the hospital stamped out trying something again. As a kid i watched the Beatleborgs show, but i was 11 at the time and even at that age i felt like i was too old to be watching it because of how cringy it was. I would quickly change the channel if my sister woke up early on the weekend so she wouldnt know. I think i would have loved the original tokusatsu-seies as a kid without embarrassment since it was all the added shit like "little kids get superpowers" and "haunted house of goofy monsters" that made me ashamed to like it. I just wanted to see robot bug heros blow shit up.
Someone just wanted to make a universal monster themed sitcom and that Israelite Saban liked the idea but thought it also needed more power rangers to sell toys and shit. I wish It actually had a final episode and not a cliffhanger. Haven't watched juukou b fighter, or b fighter kabuto but they are in my toku harddrive waiting to be watched
