      >Maus

you're more right than you know. Dude's dad is probably mentally ill. I know the word narcissist is used a lot this day, but dude's dad probably was one and that is what drop his mother to kill herself. His dad probably burned her diaries to hide how bonkers selfish and nuts he was.

There is just two big of a contrast between who his dad claims to be and how he acts.

        >There is just two big of a contrast between who his dad claims to be and how he acts.

His dad doesn't claim to be anything, it's more of the assumption/expectation that someone who suffered as much as he did is going to come out of it as a sainted martyr. Spiegelman explicitly says that his dad is basically the living personification of the Nazi caricature of a covetous, conniving israelite.

Spiegelman explicitly says that his dad is basically the living personification of the Nazi caricature of a covetous, conniving israelite.

Anon...we are reading the stories as his dad told him. Recall back to the first time the stories start. He tries to sell himself as some kind of ladies man and this woman just so happenned to be crazy about him. Then find the woman that would become the writer's mom. And his dad tells the story like her parents and family were just crazy about him and gave him a factory and all these things. His dad presents himself like a wonderful person. He doesn't tell you that he is wonderful, but he crafts the stories as if he were.

Maybe dad wasn't a full on narc. We'll never know. But he was probably an unreliable narrator. Which is pretty funny given how important maus is as a comic on the holocaust.

I'm not even an antisemite. I just get a slimey feeling reading maus. Like dad was only slightly better than a kapo. That good israeli people and other prisoners probably died because of his trickery and bullshit.

Yeah, Vladek is an unreliable as hell narrator. You can see the seams on the spots where he alters the story to make himself look better.

Vladek being a kinda shit dude is what makes the story interesting.
He reminds me a ton of my own father. Very sharp and quick minded, but lacking in empathy and having that anal retentive mindset constantly.

The comic is written as a straight-faced interpretation of the Nation of Islam’s beliefs but the author is known for parody and ridiculousness. Presumably he did it because the premise is so silly. The mask slips at a few points, such as the gorilla exclaiming “what the?!”

It’s essentially African American Muslim Scientology. Equally insane, but with a different target market.
There were even some attempts to decouple the crazy shit from the movement but it got brought back because apparently it worked on people.

                Anonymous

It's the written belief. As with all religious stuff, how much actual people actually believe is debatable. I suspect in many cases it's less "I believe in this, verbatim " and more "I dunno about all of that, but the gist passes the vibe check."

Not for nothing, but the first successor to the guy who whipped this stuff up pretty much immediately discarded this and tried to make the Nation of Islam a more "normal" Sunni branch. Naturally there's now been some splits from that with the true crazy people who are constantly talking about how literally true and scientifically supported this all is.

And then he went to Mecca, saw white people being chill there, and went "hang on, if these guys can be decent then..."
And then the Nation of Islam had him assassinated before he could really finish that thought. Like something out of a comic, honestly.

The Nation of Islam is wildly influential in American inner cities. The next time you read that comic, keep in mind the majority of famous New York rappers and vast swathes of the black community actually believe in it (the latter largely due to the influence of the former).

It starts out as basically a porn humour comic.
            >Summer (a hyper-misandrist who only became a gynecologist to finger pregnant women) and Hatsuki (a self-hating Japanese woman who's a lesbian pornstar ONLY because she wants to shame her parents) live together
            >At one point, Hatsuki gets pregnant because she fricked a bi woman with a pussy full of semen and Summer gets invitro'd so she can get off to being pregnant
            >they move out to the suburbs and get a gay nanny because they hate straight men and would literally rape any woman that enters their house
            >waffle on wheither or not they're a real couple
            >Summer gets cancer, then a boob job
            >Summer gets over her phobia of fricking penises and being ejaculated in by becoming a porn star with her trans siblings' porn company
            >porn company gets sued because its financier doesn't think trans/cis lesbian porn is lesbian porn
            >he dies, so they win

Not really. A lot of wacky manga is usually the creator having an idea for a story and an editor going "this is really neat but could you make it about Maids? Our market research show Maids are popular now." It's all very sane and pedestrian once you really know what's going on. Meanwhile the west is full of actual schizos.

Sadly, maids have not been popular for a while.

Nah, the early 2000s was probably the peak of horniness.
These days shit is all chaste.
Although the extremes might be as far as they used to be.

Negima was created because Ken Akamatsu said "I want to do a workplace comedy about a DMV" and his editor said "That's cool. Harry Potter is popular right now so you're doing Love Hina with Harry Potter".

Japan can't inte esoteric thinking. The western mindset can easily handle the son, father and spirit thing but japs struggle with it.
At best they can produce some insane and complex rules but nothing more.

No one really understands it. People say they do but then will try to explain it with an analogy like "water, ice and vapor are all forms of water" but that's just the heresy of modalism. Most you can say is "I don't understand it but God is beyond my understanding and I accept it because the church teaches it" which is not very intellectually satisfying.

Unless it's taken a sudden turn in the last few months since the last time I read it, Tamberlane is one of the least whackadoo comics I've seen, furry or otherwise.
      >catcha: GYDAD
Because you'r emother's a prostitute son. Now rink your ovaltine.

Tamberlane has a male child skunk taking off his dress (because he's a troony) and it's suddenly cub porn.

          Anonymous

That's literally nothing compared to the full-blown cub/e-girl comics that are out there. And other than that, it's pretty standard post-apocalypse-with-furries. That old self-insert Gadget comic is more outre than that.

Wait none of this makes sense.
If white people became gorillas that means they were in deep Africa, and not Europe.
This means they would have either lived among black people, or had to pass them to enter the African wilderness.
This contradicts a lot of other things stated in the NOI's ideology.

NTA but we had a storytime on /trash/ a few years, so here's an archive of it:
        https://desuarchive.org/trash/search/text/jack%20storytime/type/op/
The one at the top was the last recent thread, but OP was nice enough to link to the previous threads in chronological order.
If an image 404s you can probably find it somehow with yandex.

Ohh and heads up that the timelines of the comic are absolutely all over the place.
Future, past, present, most of it jumps around sometimes almost randomly.
Maybe look up what the main characters are before really reading it.

This is the most hilarious thing about “Afro” american supremacists: their leaders appear whiter than the average Sardinian, they love Islam while the ordinary muslim is 10 times more racist than an ordinary Christian , they love ancient Egypt even though they were mostly slaves for much of ancient Egyptian history and the common "African" american is more likely to have a slaver ancestor than the common white American.
The most cucked race of earth.

        >they were mostly slaves for much of ancient Egyptian history
That was the Arabs. Slaves in ancient Egypt were mostly locals and Asiatics.

          Anonymous

Ancient Egypt took place over a vast territory, over a long period of time and with different peoples, Arabs, Berbers, blacks in the south at some point and Europeans in the North. What is certain is that afro-americans have an absolutely wrong conception of ancient Egypt

            Anonymous

There were no Arabs in Ancient Egypt. If you're going to talk about people conceiving of it wrongly, at least use the proper terms.

        >they love ancient Egypt even though they were mostly slaves for much of ancient Egyptian history

And that was the Nubians/Kushites. The average west african has zero connection to ancient Egypt.
