Iron Man

Why does he suck? You'd think with the concept he'd have cool stories but it's the same old thing m over and over again. He either gets his tech stolen, gets his company stolen and goes broke or gets drunk again.

The writers have had a hate boner for Stark since at least the mid 2000s. Let's go over a list of the borderline villainous things the writers have forced him to do, which have damaged his brand more and more over time throughout the years:

•He made the Thor-Buster from the Cosmic Gem which was given as a gift from Thor, only to fight Thor with it and cause great amounts of destruction in Asgard because of that. And that was only to get back at Thor because Thor was angry that Tony had stolen his DNA and sanctioned it to create a weaker Thor clone to kill multiple different heroes in the Civil War, which only happened because Thor himself refused to participate in the Civil War.

•He gathered the Infinity Gems and on a different occasion, gathered their shards to attempt to utilize them.

•Mf also hacked and disabled every suit of armor that had his tech in it, despite the fact that meant disabling the armors of all the legitimate government sanctioned guardsmen suits, regardless of where ever they were or what they were doing at the time, which likely resulted in dozens to hundreds of innocent deaths. And he did this completely illegally, without any warning, and to escape any consequences, he faked his own death.

•He used the Power Cosmic to brainwash all of the US and force them to agree with him.

•He sided with Kang once, slaughtered multiple innocent heroes, and they had to bring a younger, uncorrupted version of himself to stop him.

These are just the ones I'm familiar with, but there's probably more. You can see how and why he hasn't been seen as heroic as he actually is because of, I'd argue, a combination of writer bias and writer fatigue.

Thor was dead at the time of civil war I don't think he could have refused(though he would if he could) at the time

You've got this sequence of events entirely out of order. Tony built the Thorbuster armor in the 2003 crossover Standoff, the US government sent him to intervene when Thor aiding his worshippers was escalating a war in the Balkans. Civil War and the creation of the clone Thor happened afterwards, during a time when Thor was dead.

      >Mf also hacked and disabled every suit of armor that had his tech in it, despite the fact that meant disabling the armors of all the legitimate government sanctioned guardsmen suits, regardless of where ever they were or what they were doing at the time, which likely resulted in dozens to hundreds of innocent deaths.
The entire force of Guardsmen were stationed at The Vault, a supervillain prison, there were nowhere close to hundreds of them. Captain America was there at the time and stopped a prison riot and breakout, IIRC one of the Guardsmen was injured and Cap confronted Tony over it.

      >He used the Power Cosmic to brainwash all of the US and force them to agree with him.
      Which story was this?

This shit has ruined Stark and tainted him.

Not really, 99% of it was irrelevant within a year of it happening and never got mentioned again. Most Marvel heroes have a number of stories that you'd think would ruin and taint them, but it only happens when it's something the writers refuse to let go of. Tony has a larger list of stories like this than most heroes, but most writers were willing to let them go, so they don't define him the way Hank Pym, Wanda or Beast get defined for years by their worst moments.

they should update his backstory that he made weapons for Isreal to defend themselves with only to see first hand the weapons being used to killed Palestinian children. Then he decides to stop making weapons which makes Isreal brand stark as an Anti-Semite. now Stark has to navigate a buisness that's bleeding money due to a false brand put on him, the guilt his weapons were used to kill innocent people.

    Many such cases.

Odds are the writers couldn't come up with anything worth while. To be honest I haven't read any recent iron man comics so no idea if they have a decent storyline going right now.

They turned Iron Man into an X-book, so go ahead and throw away that notion.

He looks like a evil rich porn star, no one can relate to that. Plus it's too hard to Extend the action mech suit hero into popularity without it being Japanese fiction. Starks stories revolve around him being an American henshin hero but without the soul and love of the concept, being he's just another rich playboy trope like Batman but without the charm and mystique of being compelling as a complex character(and edgy).

My understanding is that Marvel were never able to capitalise on the character's runaway success in the MCU and instead of producing a definitive or top-tier run to draw in readership the character just sort of floundered in cape boilerplate that ultimately went round in circles. Iron Man is a worldwide star and household name but with very little to actually show for it.
