How? Those books get pants on head moronic, in the absolute best possible way, half way through the SECOND book. There is no possible way that they can hammer it into anything that looks palatable.
>the ones after that get way too heady and weird for audiences.
Yea i mean a toddler just talking like an Adult was too weird for villeneuve, Children of Dune would be insane for him
Because it was in fact 2,5 hours of completely wasted runtime and failed build up that's barely coherent without the outside knowledge from the book all because Villehack hates dialog (as he revealed recently for those who haven't figured out already). Is it normal for you to continue a story after seeing how much it's foundation sucks because muh hecking payoff? Seems more like a sunk cost fallacy to me
The start of the dune book is better than the middle which is actually really boring and is just paul moving around with the fremen and learning their tribal ways

So excited for the Duncverse.
I don't think normies will understand that you shouldn't root for Paul. There's a point where he compares himself to Hitler—
"He killed more than six million. Pretty good for those days... Statistics: at a conservative estimate, I've killed sixty-one billion, sterilized ninety planets, completely demoralized five hundred others. I've wiped out the followers of forty religions..."
>I've killed sixty-one billion, sterilized ninety planets, completely demoralized five hundred others. I've wiped out the followers of forty religions..."
Compared to the size of Imperium its pretty much nothing
To be fair, none of this was Paul's intention. It grew out of control, leading to the irony of being a powerful emperor who commands his subjects yet a powerless god who can't stop his worshipers.
Leto II rules over territories from several galaxies with an iron fist, demands that his subjects worship him, commands an army of savage female fanatics, and uses his monopoly over the spice to prevent any challenge to his authority. What only he knows, however, is that he is using his reign as a means to free humanity from prescient rulers like himself and to ensure that humanity follows his "Golden Path" - the path away from extinction. In short, his brutality and oppression are intended to make humanity chafe under his rule, such that his death will be followed by a mass exodus that scatters the human race so far that they will never all fall under the sway of someone such as him ever again. His contemporaries think he is simply a power hungry despot.
The other houses would join together and rebel if they took full monopolistic control of the spice. They delegate its management to a favored house as a reward.
Call me crazy but I think the golden path is bullshit and the whole debacle started with the Bene Gesserit playing god, the golden path being the best possible outcome after Paul is born and takes his role as the messiah, and he still fricks up.
Leto thinks he is omniscient at first, but after his plan continues, he begins to worry that he could be wrong, or that the results don't justify his methods. In the end, he accepts that while he did what he felt was personally necessary, humanity will likely forever judge him as a monster.
Didn't they change the word "jihad" to "crusade" for the movie? Utter cowardice, and if they try to make more stuff they will definitely not mention Paul = super Hitler.
This is like asking if a Warhammer 40k universe is inevitable. It's not, it's niche, not as niche as Dune, which is basically a series written on LSD, and is intended for LSD users.
I love Dune but it's a franchise of diminishing returns. The first novel is fantastic then Messiah is pretty great. Children is okay and God Emperor is slightly better. Then Heretics and Chapterhouse both go so far off the rails I had to force myself to finish them.
There best be some elements of the Westwood era using a screenshot like that.
Dune: The no-bull Atreides
Dune: The eeeevil Harkonnen
and Dune: the insidious Ordos
Think of all the Duncan Idaho spinoffs that can take place in between books 3 and 4! Hundreds, nay, thousands of complete, distinct storylines, starring everyone's favorite ghola. Can you stand it???
assuming they found decent writers for it, additional shows/films set in this universe could be interesting but that won't happen if they base it all on Frank's kid's books lmao
How? Those books get pants on head moronic, in the absolute best possible way, half way through the SECOND book. There is no possible way that they can hammer it into anything that looks palatable.
You mean just like the Lord of the Rings book?
no?
uh, you misspelled pants on head awesome
Yeah the first book is really the only with big action blockbuster potential, the ones after that get way too heady and weird for audiences.
>the ones after that get way too heady and weird for audiences.
Yea i mean a toddler just talking like an Adult was too weird for villeneuve, Children of Dune would be insane for him
>imply it would follow any book
anon..
They already did a bunch of videogames.
Any good ones? By good I mean point and click adventure game.
Dune and it's porn parody fit that genre. The other games are RTS
it can only retain weirdo fringe fans, but they'll try to bleed it as much as they can, that's how it is
I'm not really interested in seeing the 2nd one, unsure if normies feel the same
Why would you put yourself through 3 hours of exposition and build up and skip the payoff lol
Because it was in fact 2,5 hours of completely wasted runtime and failed build up that's barely coherent without the outside knowledge from the book all because Villehack hates dialog (as he revealed recently for those who haven't figured out already). I didn't even finish watching the first movie
2nd was much better than the first tbqh
Won't even watch the first because it has that disgusting Tom Holland beard in it.
i am sick of franchises and universes
whatever happened to series
its not sustainable
they got the worm and thats it
>next lord of the rings
so one good trilogy and the rest of the franchise just shitting on its legacy?
endless sequels, spin offs ect just reeks of capeshit marvel slop
They will have to produce 3 successful movies first
these buttholes are just lining the pockets of brian herbert
>dunc

So excited for the Duncverse.
Don't forget Dunc in Space
And Dunc in the Hood.
I exhaled with a smile
Where is The Dunc (2031)?
DUNC: what a life
kino
>dunc:accino
Kino
>Dunc: Oops all Idahos
Ernest Goes to Arrakis would be hyper surreal kino
I'd watch it.
they're not gonna do leto the god-emperor worm without weirding out the normies so no
it's okay, they can just turn him into a dream or a vision or something
No. Dune is full of tropes done by several other scifi franchises lucky enough to become popular.
I don't think normies will understand that you shouldn't root for Paul. There's a point where he compares himself to Hitler—

To be fair, none of this was Paul's intention. It grew out of control, leading to the irony of being a powerful emperor who commands his subjects yet a powerless god who can't stop his worshipers.
so what's the endgame, what eventually becomes leto ii 's golden path? To end humanity's addiction to spice so they can fight thinking machines?
Leto II rules over territories from several galaxies with an iron fist, demands that his subjects worship him, commands an army of savage female fanatics, and uses his monopoly over the spice to prevent any challenge to his authority. What only he knows, however, is that he is using his reign as a means to free humanity from prescient rulers like himself and to ensure that humanity follows his "Golden Path" - the path away from extinction. how come the Corrinos never just took control of Arrakis?
it makes no sense
The other houses would join together and rebel if they took full monopolistic control of the spice. They delegate its management to a favored house as a reward.
>rebel
>no spice
just like Paul
so why didn't Corrino do it?
>several galaxies
I read all the books and don't remember this at all
Call me crazy but I think the golden path is bullshit and the whole debacle started with the Bene Gesserit playing god, the golden path being the best possible outcome after Paul is born and takes his role as the messiah, and he still fricks up.
The Golden Path is the one truth path and only midwit plebs like yourself can't see that.
Leto thinks he is omniscient at first, but after his plan continues, he begins to worry that he could be wrong, or that the results don't justify his methods. In the end, he accepts that while he did what he felt was personally necessary, humanity will likely forever judge him as a monster.
yet like a b***h he wrote about his inner feelings so that "humans" (historians) in the year 1 million or whatever can forgive him
He knew what was going to happen, but did it anyway
So we all know WB isn't gonna adapt a story about a genocidal space Hitler right?
Didn't they change the word "jihad" to "crusade" for the movie? Utter cowardice, and if they try to make more stuff they will definitely not mention Paul = super Hitler.
Just "holy war", there's probably multiple cuts and both jihad and crusade were a bit too offensive.
should I watch dune? The twink actor pisses me off
watch the lynch version
> Dune Cinematic Universe
Based on what? There’s only one book!
Nobody tell him about Kevin J Anderson
super excited to see how they do children of dune
and God Emperor of Dune
Then you'll have to calm your excitement as those aren't coming at least untill the next reboot in 20 or so years after this one fails
we'll atleast get dune messiah, which might fail since the dune movie writers can't do subtext
It's basically what would have happened if Aragon took the Ring of Power and used it against Sauron only to become an even worse Evil Overlord.
This is like asking if a Warhammer 40k universe is inevitable. It's not, it's niche, not as niche as Dune, which is basically a series written on LSD, and is intended for LSD users.
Dune does not have the potential of spawning a big franchise like LotR, much less something like the MCU.
>pic
Emperor: Battle for Dune was pure Westwood kino
DUNC STUNC
>Is a Dune Cinematic Universe™ inevitable?
Frank Herbert's talentless shitbag son sure hopes so.
>father neglects and mistreats you
>dies
>ruin his literary legacy as revenge and make millions doing so
He's based
are you talking about Paul and Leto II or Frank and Brian?
Frank and Brian but I guess it kinda fits both lol
I love Dune but it's a franchise of diminishing returns. The first novel is fantastic then Messiah is pretty great. Children is okay and God Emperor is slightly better. Then Heretics and Chapterhouse both go so far off the rails I had to force myself to finish them.

Dune: The no-bull Atreides
Dune: The eeeevil Harkonnen

No. It isn't.
Stop giving it airtime and it'll go away.
nobody gives a shit about a star wars ripoff when real star wars is bombing hard
wouldn't that be the opposite
>star war nerds want something to fill the void since real stars wars bombed
Star Wars ripped off Dune first.
The new Dune was somehow way worse than Lynch's Dune, we'll be lucky it part 2 gets canceled.
Think of all the Duncan Idaho spinoffs that can take place in between books 3 and 4! Hundreds, nay, thousands of complete, distinct storylines, starring everyone's favorite ghola. Can you stand it???
The feel good comedy hit of the year!
why did she do it?
assuming they found decent writers for it, additional shows/films set in this universe could be interesting but that won't happen if they base it all on Frank's kid's books lmao
Who will play, Leto and put humanity on the Golden Path? Also why is the concept of Dune so cool, but the books themselves boring as hell?
