Don't see why. Its pretty consistent that once any other godly fellow enters the picture, Aku gets his ass whooped. He couldn't even deal with three lower elemental deities on his own.
It's different when it's other beings in the same universe by the same creator and another creator inserting his original character into that universe and having him manhandle its resident big bad.
Aku was a goofer so jobbing doesn't feel that OOC, Anti-pops is a dogshit ass pull character though so he can rot.
Anti-pops got distracted by push ups and let everyone escaped, he’s legitimately a dumbass who deserved that for making villains looked bad.
This, Black Hat is supposed to be a goofy character it's annoying people overlook this to feel upset towards him thanks to such garbage like RS's final seasons.
Anyone could easily defeat him by just writing him being defeated. For example, "Black hat walk down the street to take candy from a baby and when distracted, slipped on a banana peel and hit his head on a fire hydrant, he died instantly" Alan may cry and whine about his character being invincible and that Black Hat being a "doombot" by convincing Cartoon network executives to write that as an episode of the show will overpower him Basically Black Hat only has as much power as his creator does
Not if you mind control Alan and force him to write Black Hat as a secret loser b***h who's power and menace is nothing but illusions, which is why he doesn't want Demencia getting intimate with him, she could inadvertently discover that he's fraud by doing so
>which is why he doesn't want Demencia getting intimate with him, she could inadvertently discover that he's fraud by doing so
If the show didn’t reveal him easily tearing through metal in anger. It would be funny to see Dem reveal BH is physically weak.
In the shorts he was a mean boss with frustrating employees. You could overpower his calm form. Like with the statue machine. Or startle or shock him. Like with the floating machine. In the show he mostly gives the plot drive. Alan did say he will have his own episodes. Which I’m excited for. I hope they’re mundane. Or more grounded as adult pains.
Its heavily implied. Also that the hat is more just an avatar in that reality because unsurprisingly, Black Hat is essentially a lovecraftian outer god
It appears that way. But it’s more likely Black Hat is an outer God who takes over human bodies to make avatars in the world to spread his influence. Like Darkseid. He’s like a force of nature or an old God. Maybe he’s some sort of cartoon avatar of evil? It depends on how they treat his existence IRL. Why can he go back between this world and the toon world? Maybe he’s the personification of the human need to create the villain in media?
>Maybe he’s the personification of the human need to create the villain in media?
To add to this. Black Hat could be the “black hat”behind every story. New or old. The ever changing evil behind each tale.
>Black Hat is part of the idea that stories need villains.
Hey, hang on…
That sounds much more interesting than him just being this own free range villain who is just so super cool and powerful and better than any other hero or villain. That would also be able to tie into the idea that he is a business man as he is more focused on trying to make more villains for more stories than just beating everyone up himself. From the posts here, seems like he’s part of another larger cosmic horror, but if that is the case, why would he even be in retirement in the first place? It’s a goddamn vessel for a cosmic horror; you think they would just retire him or something. Black Hat being the personification of a “Black Hat” role that all stories have, with him being a more humanized version of the lovecraftian style horror who created him and all other villains in fiction, almost as if he’s trying to create himself, sounds much more interesting and makes sense as to why he was able to just stomp out the other villains; he’s the representation of what created them. He’s already technically creating them by giving them weapons and what not; the idea that this Black Hat is an human form/vessel for the real evil godly villain that creates other villains would make sense and make him arming the other villains and roasting them less “RAAAAGH LOOK AT HOW MUCH MORE POWERFUL I AM THAN YOU” and more “You have failed in your goal that I have literally created you for”. It’s like Death from Puss In Boots being literally Death; Black Hat being the personification of villains in all stories, as a vessel for his real evil Eldritch Horror form that birthed every villain in existence sounds so much more interesting than what we have now for Black Hat.
>Why would he even be in retirement in the first place
I think that was an early on thing from the shorts before the official show. By all accounts, Black Hat essentially has already won for a long time and controls the world from the shadows to the point normies can't even cognitively recognize it because they lack insight. The whole organization may just be him fricking around and purposely nerfing himself just to make thing interesting while spreading and juicing up evil throughout existence. Though in one of the books there is some hidden message about a prophecy where things are gonna get real fricked.
>Maybe he’s the personification of the human need to create the villain in media?
To add to this. Black Hat could be the “black hat”behind every story. New or old. The ever changing evil behind each tale.
just say he's the devil, there's no need to overcomplicate things
Alan already said that, but the theoretical evil in every story is different than the devil. Devil connects him more religiously than anything. I think since he’s meta, he should have more of a power towards storytelling.
That’s called building up the story. Do you need the plot fed to you before the show is done?

One thing is building up a story across social media and a different one is building up a story across an actual story that works either as a tv show or a movie.

There’s been two comics. One just finished. You’re b***hing about things not being shown but not much of anything has been shown in the show. The is cyclical reasoning.
If you take 'everything' into account he's lovecraftian tier with meta frickery
>Controls the animators and literally runs the actual show if you take the cartoon chronicles episode thing at face value >Can nonchalantly blow up planets and traverse universes on a whim >Fourth wall awareness as he is aware of (You) the viewer. >Employs actual lovecraft mythos monsters >Can imprison civilizations / worlds(?) and people in labyrinthine pocket universe(s)? via the cyoa book >One of his subordinates higher up on the chain in the organization can destroy someone on the meta level if the implication of panel is accurate with just a smidge of a boost presumably. Note this guy isn't even at the two higher levels who get more of a power handout from Black Hat himself >Various miscellaneous hax and reality warping frickery.
I mean if you count the villainous guide episodes then no he can't. He's never had to try, but the showrunner implied that he will most likely end up having to struggle at some point as he insinuates how Black Hat is out of practice and how there might be 'some' weakness out there which will probably end up being the bear. There's a Superman One Million esque spoof character in the show's setting. That said though, the style of the show was described as "what if big 2 comics got thrown into lovecraft and how would they deal with that?"

I could imagine his weakness is sleeping. If we’re going lovecraftian. Then all outer gods waking up would kill him and all beings.

I believe it was brought up in a Q&A. He does not need to eat or sleep. I think it was even said he just flat out doesn't sleep

I meant his true form waking up. If all outter gods wake up it’s the end of reality as we know it. If we go lovecraftian lore of course. I imagine the avatars are a product of him dreaming.

I like this idea though. Aku and BH are shown as the same cosmic horror in lore. BH in the videos only criticizes the flaws of evil plans and incompetent leaders. It’s never focused on his own feats. BH was shown to be a very old evil. I see him like Red Death. But it would make sense why he feels the need to deal weapons and plans. It would be so cool seeing him in ancient heros vs villains stories. Grimm tales, Greek mythology. BH has a whole speech about how old he is and he goes “I’m the bear painted on cave walls. The nightmare in every dream.” Some cool ass speech about humanity and their need to create evil figures. So bad ass but also interesting.
Villainous is allowed to have more bite and dark humor apparently because CN LA is based. The first non pilot ep has easter eggs implying how all the ghost children died, some of em being pretty grisly including one of them having been killed by Black Hat and another by Freddy Krueger
>That bit in the recent comic where Panini from Chowder got an internship at a kitchen in a fancy casino that was owned by one of the kingpin villains of that city
The little cameos are fun
Oh, I see now. So he's like a Giygas type thing. Okay. Well that's better than the normal design. Kind of wish he worked like a daedric prince being omnipresent rather than what he is. Seems kind of pointless to not be a cosmic deity all the time.
Its been heavily implied he is omnipresent. He purposely nerfs himself because he is bored and likes spicing things up. There does seem to be other stuff going on though based on the othet books
As fun as Aku is he really doesn't compare to Black Hat on the power scale

In the show these images are background art. Black Hat was said to reproduce like Aku. His spawn look like flesh monsters. His henchmen can erase you on a meta level. That photo is an image of him. You can even see his hat shape. He also changes forms in the show.

try to explain to justify why he is the way he is.
I see Black Hat as if HIM from the Powerpuff Girls show had no narrative balance behind, like some fanfic tier villain that shows up just because the creator thought it would be cool, but instead it's edgy as frick.
Yes, he absolutely is. I swear Alan probably draws him beating up Jesus and Satan simultaneously in his spare time. He is the coldsteel the hedgehog of cartoon villains. Tries ao hard to be cool and more powerful than everything around him without earning it that he just ends up feeling kind of generic and bland, especially for his appearance. A character with that much power should look the part and he just doesn't. Plus the evil pointy gentleman bit is so tired, please let it die.
Also, remember how this was supposed to be like this huge thing with crossover promos and everything? I bet they wanted a big fandom for it, all they got was a few episodes I think.
How do you say he’s this super strong cold steel if he barely does anything? He’s not casually shitting on other cartoons or trying hard. In the show he’s in the background for the most part, and delivers the dark humor. Everything you described except for his clothes is inaccurate. Also there’s been a few cross over parts in the show. Eris, Johnny, victor valentino. Etc. there’s more episodes not released yet either. Along with several books and two comics as well.
No, it isn't. How does any of what you said invalidate what I said about his character?
Okay, so he isn't there super often. Doesn't change a damn thing about how much the promos and other things in world wank him off.
Either you're very in the loop on cartoon events or you are a fan of this series, in which case I can't blame you for defending it but the guy's entire schtick is that he is the ultimate evil and basically never loses to anything, isn't it? So how am I wrong when I say that he is indeed a mary sue because he is shown to stomp some of CN's most powerful characters without so much as a bit of a fight? How am I wrong in saying he is the coldsteel of cartoon villains when from the very get go the series was pushing him as if he belonged in the pantheon of CN baddies not just as an equal but as an immediate superior?
>How does any of what you said invalidate what I said about his character?
BH is a big bad in his own universe and CN itself. But he doesn’t come off as a Gary Stu because he’s not constantly on screen flaunting anything. He also does have flaws. He doesn’t understand new technology. He tends to break it or frick it up. He’s quick to anger and makes bad investments. He is said to be harassed by his employees often. Specifically Dementia. Also that he needs the three employees for a reason.
Dementia was shown taking over the world on her own. She is also one of the strongest characters in the show. Is she a Mary Sue?
Also, BH hasn’t fought most of CN’s roster. He’s designed as their big bad. His deal is that he’s an old evil that already won. Now he’s retired and seeing new evil and controlling the growth of it.

Flaunting doesn't have anything to do with being a gary stu/mary sue, it's about how little they struggle with anything and don't earn their victories, they just win and are good at everything and that's that. He may not be perfect but on a functonial level he may as well be. He has no competition of any kind.
Those are okay flaws but why would he need any of those things if he already won? I wouldn't say Demencia is a mary sue but I do think the idea of her taking over the world alone is very cartoonish, which I suppose fits since I don't think it's a very serious show. I could go either way on it.
I don't think he should have been designed as CN's big bad, it's like electing yourself king on a whim before any of the respect has been built up to back it, it could have worked better if he had to get to that point. If he's trying to run a company then I think he ought to have just been played as a very experienced and retired lex luthor-type who basically runs the acme corporation for supervillains. Maybe with super demon powers scaled to that universe alone. Simple, to the point, keeps main show's plot and characterizations intact, and no powerwank nonsense.

BH was changed by executives into the biggest bad. He didn’t elect himself. He was given it. Flaunting is the entire reason why people don’t like perfect characters. There’s no problem or turmoil. They solve it by being perfect. BH sends his lackeys out to deal with it. You don’t know his competition because you haven’t seen him do much of anything. Hell, if I watched one episode of Avatar you’d say Ozai was a Gary Stu. Because he hasn’t done anything on screen to contradict that. But he also hasn’t done anything on screen to say that he is. He rules his world. But even that isn’t pointed out in the show. >just been played as a very experienced and retired lex luthor-type who basically runs the acme corporation for supervillains
Have you seen the comic? He sells robots to Tom and Jerry. He is exactly as you described. The crossover between Villianous and DC was nice as well.
Its been getting a lot of material and merch actually. It just recently finished a canon comic and the ending next episodes are incoming so we will likely hear more soon as they've been teasing stuff lately like a lady mime based villain who will probably be focused on in one of the new eps.
>I bet they wanted a big fandom for it, all they got was a few episodes I think.
A lot of the initial hype was backed by fujos, then the actual show came out and they decided to focus almost the entire marketing on a villainess.
Yes which is why I don't like the show. I was hoping he'd just be compitent and also show that while evil, he sort of cares for his minions and lackys but he's just OP for the hell of it and barely interacts with anyone.
Hakai wouldnt work because that doesnt work on immortal entities. Spirit Bomb would be his best bet but I doubt that would end up doing much if anything
>speedreader
The boat didn't knock him out. He didn't even notice the boat or the gaping head wound it left. He left because the stars weren't right for him to wake up yet and went back to sleep, with the head wound already completely healed by the time he left.
Black Hot is evil. He was created by Dementia. He also worships Black Hat like God. He’d suck him off if anything. And Dem would probably love watching.
But could he beat Goku?
Goku ain’t shit because of
If you take 'everything' into account he's lovecraftian tier with meta frickery

I’m convinced the one reason people like this character is because they want to frick him, contrary to other male characters where people are attracted to them because of the writing and end up finding them attractive.
It doesn't matter if execs did it or not it was too sudden, don't be so pedantic. >flaunting is the entire reason
No, it isn't. It's one but hardly most of.
All of the rest of that is technicality, the other characters are not part of black hat's character and I don't see why you are seeming to argue that. >he hasn't done anything on screen to say that he is
If what you mean he hasn't come out and literally said "I am God" then sure. The fact he just suddenly unquestionably rules everything in his version of CN's multiverse is enough. He doesn't have to do anything to be that, he already has. If he had a backstory it would have to be pure gary stu trite because otherwise Alan's precious OC might job. He has his lackeys do everything because if he actually lifted a finger himself the problem would be eradicated instantly and there'd be no plot. So yes, he is indeed a Gary Stu. Stop moving the definition of what that means it's not just the attitude it's the writing too. >exactly as you described
Again I never said he didn't, I'm saying that should have been the extent of his story and character because now there's nothing for him to actually do but sit around going "hehehe I'm so evil look at my funny hat".
>How does any of what you said invalidate what I said about his character?

BH was hinted to be from the same evil as Aku you mophead. You’re seething over an executive decision to make a character the big bad of their multiverse.
Who said I'm seething? Being elaborate =/= mad, I hate that mindset. I don't care what the source is, the discussion was whether or not he's a gary stu and based off the criteria of winning everything and never failing I say he is. It's that simple.
Gary Stu’s are flawless beings. Black Hat has several flaws. You are once again mistaking early character traits as perfection when we see Black Hat is not Gary Stuing it up. Not beating up everyone he sees, not outdoing everyone, or doing much of anything besides being a dick to his workers. There has been 5 episodes. None focused on him. In the shorts he was played comedic ally as well. Never came off as a Gary Stu. This is reaching to be upset over something you don’t watch, and now you’ve shown you know frick all about the show.
I think it depends on the intent of the character. Black Hat is intended to be a lovecraftian outer god sort of entity so of course he absolutely dunks on everyone. He is more of a force of nature than a Gary Stu

He tells his lackeys what the mission is, sends them out. In the shorts he was subject to hidings of his henchmen fricking up. Or himself fricking up.
Okay, if Black hat, a character who's explicit purpose and design are centered around being the literal incarnation of evil across the entire multiverse without any conceivable hope of ever struggling a any point does not qualify as a gary stu, please give me an example of what is because as far as I can tell you are just moving the goalposts so you don't have to admit your sexyman is way too strong for anything involving him to feel earned.

No, he’s entirely evil. But he’s not the evil of the multiverse. Which I imagine is his goal. >without any conceivable hope of ever struggling
He hires people to do shit he cannot do to spread his influence. The fact that he has to get others to help him shows he’s not >muh most powerful being. >it does not matter if he's doing any of that
It does if he’s supposedly a Gary Stu. Since he’s not able to take over entirely without his lackeys.
You’re seething over things you imagine him to be like than what he actually is. Might as well say Slade is a Gary Stu because you see him rarely and he never really loses. “But he lost sometimes” a few losses doesn’t mean he isn’t a Gary Stu.

Black Hat has a huge anger flaw that makes it so he destroys whatever annoys him. Or when he fricked up the shrink ray and destroyed part of his own home because he was annoyed and is not proficient with technology. Breaking a tablet, not understanding how to use the newest methods of villainy. He can’t make robots he has to use Flug for it. One of Flug’s robots beat Uncle Grandpa. It wasn't Black Hat.

Do these actually ever affect him in any meaningful way? Or is it like whatsherface in Twilight where her flaw is "she's clumsy" which comes up exactly once in a way that doesn't actually cause any problems and then no one ever mentions it again?

The current lore of Black Hat >Black Hat is truly horrible, and he’d exploit any kind of suffering. He’s incapable of feeling any sort of positive emotion such as empathy, affection, kindness etc. He’s evil willingly because it’s fun. Flug on the other hand can be empathetic if he cares about that person. He’s a villain but a human, after all. And actually, Flug and 505 will need to learn how to handle the constant evil in their lives that is BH, and that’s one of the things Alan wants to explore in the show. Alan: …That’s answering more than I should
>Black Hat is the embodiment of evil, so there’s an embodiment of goodness to balance him like yin and yang and we’ll hopefully get to see him someday.
That would be very cool. I'd like to see that, and there aren't enough anti-villains in cartoons. I wonder if it'd be a sort of balanced out yin-yang or if it'd be an invader zim situation where the main character can't be allowed win because then the series would end.
>I wonder if it'd be a sort of balanced out yin-yang or if it'd be an invader zim situation where the main character can't be allowed win because then the series would end.
One interesting way to handle it might be something like..
>Black Hat and whatever light-equivalent he has, let's call them White Hat for ease of reference, are in an eternal struggle. >White Hat is currently "winning" and the status quo currently is that light wins and dark loses, that's how things are >However, what no one knows is that they're actually the same entity maintaining some balance. Because Light is currently "winning" Black Hat is the active entity to keep Darkness having a winning shot. >Black hat is aware of this and doesn't want to get shunted out, so he's maintaining a careful equilibrium where Light stays dominant, but the Darkness has a solid fighting chance, but not enough to actually push the balance back towards Darkness winning, otherwise White Hat would appear and start working to undo everything Black Hat did. >Which makes Black Hat immensely powerful, but at the same time incredibly limited as to what he's allowed to accomplish.
>Nobody knows what makes Black Hat like you, but Demencia would probably be the first one to find out. Alan says that maybe the concept is explored in the future.
So it is written…
It would be impossible. BH likes finding loopholes. >contract based on your thoughts
BH controls your mind >BH cannot affect my mind or the deal is null
He has someone else do it. >nobody can effect my mind
Puts you in a void.
There’s no winning.
The deals are generally just a formality he does to spice things up and be more intimate in fricking you over where you thought you had some chance. He doesn't really 'have' to honor them, though he twists things that ultimately end up benefiting his organization regardless. Like he ended up honoring the Sunblast deal, but Penumbra ultimately ended up supplying super tech and constantly aiding his organization
Villanous can throw all the punches he want to other shows but the moment OK KO throw a punch back, Alan has to justify Black Hat defeat with a clon excuse instead of taking the hit
>"oh it wasn't actually him the real one would totally win"
I'm just now realizing that Black Hat as a character is the embodiment of the 'nah I'd win' meme.
The Villainous lore is connected to other shows. Making Black hat loose outside of the show would kind of ruin the point of the character/series. Everything inside of CN is cannon. Also the copy was made before that episode was made.
>The character who literally can't lose in even the most minor of ways without breaking the entire show isn't a Gary Stu
Are you guys even listening to yourself now?
He's a lovecraftian god. It'd be like calling Yog'sothoth a Gary Stu.

I'd argue it's more in the presentation.
Black Hat has been the main reason why I never gave the show much of a chance.
I dunno
is so egregious and badly done, that I couldn't give a shit about
As fun as Aku is he really doesn't compare to Black Hat on the power scale
as an excuse for it.
Throw in the Doombot shit, and all I see is a character who was made to be a Gary Stu with an excuse behind him.
And I'm not even saying this from a powerwank death battle kind of mindset. If I did that then I just go to the Doctor for an automatic win and call it a day. I'm just here to point out when bad writing is bad writing.

That, fundamentally doesn't change a single thing.

It does if you attribute it to Black Hat’s abilities which you labeled as a Gary Stu. The ability you b***hed about. Is Flug’s.

It doesn't really matter if it his ability or someone else, more the fact that the person behind it couldn't even stand to see his OC get even the most minor of cameos in any sort of way that wasn't placing him above everyone else.
Go ahead and claim I'm moving the goal post. I'm really just high as shit and posting instead of lurking so I'm forgetting my own arguments half the time.

>I'm really just high as shit and posting instead of lurking so I'm forgetting my own arguments half the time.
Lmao you homosexual.
>The character who literally can't lose outside of the show because it would be considered canon. Based on continuity.
FTFY, the gags with Black Hat and Aku or AntiPops were ran through the creator prior.
if it was made by yuropoors or mutts then they would have forced the show to put some unnecessary and boring gay relationship, and maybe a troony or two
He's not just a gary stu, he's basically a deviant art style OC character.
Like he's literally a late 00s style EPIC BACON EBIL OF DOOM!!! tumblr man, who's AcTUaLly totally deep and mysterious, and you just don't get him.
Tumblr's sexy man era goes back to at least the 11th Doctor, which is years before the Villainous web series even started, it just didn't use that moniker yet.
Black Hat’s design existed before then. He’s a remnant of Kingdom Hearts fandom. >His original design, at the time named "Mr ?", was first uploaded to DeviantArt in 2008
More of a force of nature right now
Better than burger slop.
at least gerph is involved, so burger slop won by default.
I dunno
Yeah, this crossed the fricking line for me
I've heard even LATAM CN fans hated that
I don’t care about the Regular Show one. The Aku one was iffy. But Aku has been insulted by children to his face.
>I've heard even LATAM CN fans hated that
No you didn't
aku can't die by anything but the sword.
But he still can get beat up or made fun of.
Black Hat can now
You just made that up, you disgusting sissy.
No I don't think he made it up when BH has been really divisive as a character for a good while now.
Anti-pops got distracted by push ups and let everyone escaped, he’s legitimately a dumbass who deserved that for making villains looked bad.
Aku is a jobber.
Don’t know why this was greenlit but Pibby got sacked.
Pibby was cancelled?
It wasn't cancelled it was just never picked up. Technically it can still be picked up but yeah.
No
>manhandling Aku
Should have ended with Aku telling him to frick off and b***hslapping him out the door.
Aku got manhandled by regular people.
Aku was a goofer so jobbing doesn't feel that OOC, Anti-pops is a dogshit ass pull character though so he can rot.
This, Black Hat is supposed to be a goofy character it's annoying people overlook this to feel upset towards him thanks to such garbage like RS's final seasons.
What's funny is that he actually respects people like Princess Bubblegum
Vivzie art style
No, it's the style tumblr used when not copying Autism Time or Garbage Universe. It's similar to what dA used for a few years before 2010.
Kys
Anyone could easily defeat him by just writing him being defeated. For example, "Black hat walk down the street to take candy from a baby and when distracted, slipped on a banana peel and hit his head on a fire hydrant, he died instantly" Alan may cry and whine about his character being invincible and that Black Hat being a "doombot" by convincing Cartoon network executives to write that as an episode of the show will overpower him Basically Black Hat only has as much power as his creator does
BH has as much power as anyone writes him.
He was in the shorts. In the actual show he rarely does anything but be menacing. He’s just a mean boss now.
Yes
I heard that this guy is just the hat and that human body underneath the hat is just a possessed corpse or something. How true is that?
It would be a fun idea to look at why every story needs a villain. It would be a commentary on storytelling in general.
just say he's the devil, there's no need to overcomplicate things
Alan already said that, but the theoretical evil in every story is different than the devil. Devil connects him more religiously than anything. I think since he’s meta, he should have more of a power towards storytelling.
Alan keeps saying stuff instead of showing stuff.
That’s called building up the story. Do you need the plot fed to you before the show is done?
One thing is building up a story across social media and a different one is building up a story across an actual story that works either as a tv show or a movie.
There has been 5 episodes released. Also the other content behind this show has a whole recording of Black Hat taking over someone’s body.
>There has been 5 episodes released
Back in 2021, of course.
>other content behind this show has a whole recording of Black Hat taking over someone’s body
You mean the shorts from 2017 to 2019?
Damn, this is basically a fanfiction that shows up every 3 or 5 years.
There’s been two comics. One just finished. You’re b***hing about things not being shown but not much of anything has been shown in the show. The is cyclical reasoning.
>This edgy tumblr looking motherfricker being able to lay a finger on Aku
I know he's canonically weak to actual gods, but come the frick on.
Aku got his shit pushed in by a robot/mech.
As fun as Aku is he really doesn't compare to Black Hat on the power scale
What is Black Hat's exact level, anyway?
If you take 'everything' into account he's lovecraftian tier with meta frickery
>Controls the animators and literally runs the actual show if you take the cartoon chronicles episode thing at face value
>Can nonchalantly blow up planets and traverse universes on a whim
>Fourth wall awareness as he is aware of (You) the viewer.
>Employs actual lovecraft mythos monsters
>Can imprison civilizations / worlds(?) and people in labyrinthine pocket universe(s)? via the cyoa book
>One of his subordinates higher up on the chain in the organization can destroy someone on the meta level if the implication of panel is accurate with just a smidge of a boost presumably. Note this guy isn't even at the two higher levels who get more of a power handout from Black Hat himself
>Various miscellaneous hax and reality warping frickery.
Could Uncle Grandpa beat him then?
No. Pretty sure BH’s robot was shown beating him. But I think it’s because UG wasn’t shown to be a huge force of good.
I never knew it was meant to be really connected to lovecraft.
I could imagine his weakness is sleeping. If we’re going lovecraftian. Then all outer gods waking up would kill him and all beings.
>His weakness is sleeping
>Dem trips
Also there was the time he killed the Powerpuff Girls narrator
He's a big guy
weaker then a middle level DC event villain
This looks like Warhammer 40K Warp art
How the hell does it even exist in Cartoon Network
Villainous is allowed to have more bite and dark humor apparently because CN LA is based. The first non pilot ep has easter eggs implying how all the ghost children died, some of em being pretty grisly including one of them having been killed by Black Hat and another by Freddy Krueger
I liked that promo video where fricking Time Squad makes a cameo
>That bit in the recent comic where Panini from Chowder got an internship at a kitchen in a fancy casino that was owned by one of the kingpin villains of that city
The little cameos are fun
I like that Johnny has his own line of gyms
Oh, I see now. So he's like a Giygas type thing. Okay. Well that's better than the normal design. Kind of wish he worked like a daedric prince being omnipresent rather than what he is. Seems kind of pointless to not be a cosmic deity all the time.
I think his top hat form is just an avatar he uses
Yeah, but like... why?
so he can fit in his house
Its been heavily implied he is omnipresent. He purposely nerfs himself because he is bored and likes spicing things up. There does seem to be other stuff going on though based on the othet books
That's literally Nyarlathotep but infinitelly less scary.
No shit. I thought it was pretty obvious Black Hat was essentially cartoon Nyaralthotep. Dude even has the shapeshifting thing going
The BH we see is an avatar. It’s like looking at Darkseid and assuming a biped man is supposedly some sort of omnipresent God.
do we have any evidence of this
This picture of BH is what he looks like.
how do we know it isn't just a frieza situation
Because it was shown.
where
In the show these images are background art. Black Hat was said to reproduce like Aku. His spawn look like flesh monsters. His henchmen can erase you on a meta level. That photo is an image of him. You can even see his hat shape. He also changes forms in the show.
Isn't that what Aku started as?
If we zap everything but a tendril of that, do we get Blackhu?
No. Divine weapons don’t work on him. But they definitely seem intertwined. I hope it’s like
I can't stand this motherfricker, no matter what people like or
try to explain to justify why he is the way he is.
I see Black Hat as if HIM from the Powerpuff Girls show had no narrative balance behind, like some fanfic tier villain that shows up just because the creator thought it would be cool, but instead it's edgy as frick.
If you ignore the narrative then of course he doesn’t have balance.
Yes and a shitty one.
Background artists are in a league of their own.
What the frick am I looking at?
CHAD JOREL >>>>> Virgin cuckhat
Yes
See
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean.
Black Hat’s true form is the image.
He’s barely in the show.
I didn't say he wasn't?
Cool, good for you guys. Not often that you get a waiting period like that and live.

Yeah, but the merch is only available in tacoland.

Is it available at Taco Shack?

>I bet they wanted a big fandom for it, all they got was a few episodes I think.
A lot of the initial hype was backed by fujos, then the actual show came out and they decided to focus almost the entire marketing on a villainess.
I think they have two seasons ordered now. First 5 episodes viewership got them the second season.
Yes which is why I don't like the show. I was hoping he'd just be compitent and also show that while evil, he sort of cares for his minions and lackys but he's just OP for the hell of it and barely interacts with anyone.
Is an eldritch god force of nature a gary stu? No? then no
But could he beat Goku?
Yes. Reality warping powers. Meta frickery. It’s a stomp.
Honestly, Buff Hot (Cinemaphile Black Hat from a science experiment) would be a good match. They're both all about getting stronger
Goku has a power to erase evil entirely right?
BH said that divine powers like Jack's sword don't affect him
Hakai wouldnt work because that doesnt work on immortal entities. Spirit Bomb would be his best bet but I doubt that would end up doing much if anything
Spirit bomb falls under divine powers. The power of good/friendship etc. Doesn’t affect him.
But it's none of those, it's just life force
Cell can do it too
hell no
Goku is equal to Jesus in Mexico, if Black Hat was going to be made to lose to someone it's going to be him
That would be shit writing. BH is lovecraftian. Goku doesn’t beat Cthulhu.
Cthulhu jobbed to a boat.
>speedreader
The boat didn't knock him out. He didn't even notice the boat or the gaping head wound it left. He left because the stars weren't right for him to wake up yet and went back to sleep, with the head wound already completely healed by the time he left.
lotta cope for ol' squiddie getting nice boat'd
Jesus could beat Cthulhu
No
Yes
I hope BlackHot (strong Blackhat) becomes a hero that has enough good in him to resist BH. I want to see him flex BH to death.
Black Hot is evil. He was created by Dementia. He also worships Black Hat like God. He’d suck him off if anything. And Dem would probably love watching.
Goku ain’t shit because of
Yes and Bobobo murders him
testing testing
I’m convinced the one reason people like this character is because they want to frick him, contrary to other male characters where people are attracted to them because of the writing and end up finding them attractive.
I like how he’s written. It’s why I wanna frick this frog faced bastard.
>contrary to other male characters where people are attracted to them because of the writing
Are you blind?
Idk isn't the Doctor with the bag on his head supposed to be the one really pulling the strings?
No, doctor makes things. BH sells em.
No. Flug is more the protagonist of the cast though
I honestly forget about the existence of this character.
Gah, fricked it up, sorry that was for
BH was hinted to be from the same evil as Aku you mophead.
Gary stus and Mary sues have extremely minor flaws much like blackhat does
I think it depends on the intent of the character. Black Hat is intended to be a lovecraftian outer god sort of entity so of course he absolutely dunks on everyone. He is more of a force of nature than a Gary Stu
Either way, he doesn't sound very interesting or fun if he spends most of his time showing how nobody can stop him
> spends most of his time showing how nobody can stop him
But that’s not what happens.
What does happen then? I'm just going by what I see described in the thread, which seems mostly to suck off how all-powerful he is.
He tells his lackeys what the mission is, sends them out. In the shorts he was subject to hidings of his henchmen fricking up. Or himself fricking up.
>explicit purpose and design are centered around being the literal incarnation of evil across the entire multiverse
Weird that they shove all this invincible crap if he's mostly just mission control, but fair enough
Nobody is shoving invincible except the guy seething in this thread. Is he one of CN’s most powerful beings? Probably. But he does have weaknesses. Hell the biggest plot will involve him struggling.
Care to list any explicit ones then?
Get’s nausea from the sight of good, quick to anger and assumptions, breaks things he doesn’t understand, people can break their deals with him. Needs his two weaker workers for a huge plot reason. Needs a vessel to inhabit reality.
Most of those aren't weaknesses so much as character traits, but that last one is at least a pretty plausible one, thank you
A character trait can be a flaw. I think most people think being easily angered and breaking your own shit is a flaw.
I'm not seething but you can keep insisting that if it makes you feel better. Why do you think this? Long text? If I'm seething you must be too.
>Slade is a gary stu but black hat isn't
If the only thing that determines whether or not black hat gets what he wants is that he feels like it then he is a gary stu on account of not having to work for it.
>muh henchmen
But he doesn't NEED them.
>But he doesn't NEED them.
Yes he does. He cannot take over without amassing a legion of beings cultishly supporting him. You’re talking out your ass.
Rude. Why does he need that, though?
Is it a limitation he actually has outside his own free will or is it self imposed? Where's he get the power he has now from and what's stopping him from just using that?
Then yes he'd indeed be a gary stu, no arguments from me.
Slade also kept toying with the Titans. Only thing that kept him from winning was himself choosing not to.
>Black Hat has a huge anger flaw that makes it so he destroys whatever annoys him. Or when he fricked up the shrink ray and destroyed part of his own home because he was annoyed and is not proficient with technology.
Do these actually ever affect him in any meaningful way? Or is it like whatsherface in Twilight where her flaw is "she's clumsy" which comes up exactly once in a way that doesn't actually cause any problems and then no one ever mentions it again?
Okay, if Black hat, a character who's explicit purpose and design are centered around being the literal incarnation of evil across the entire multiverse without any conceivable hope of ever struggling a any point does not qualify as a gary stu, please give me an example of what is because as far as I can tell you are just moving the goalposts so you don't have to admit your sexyman is way too strong for anything involving him to feel earned.
See, you are an upset fan. It explains everything. Again, it does not matter if he's doing any of that shit. The fact he even has total power in that should be enough for you. You are literally saying
>Well he COULD beat everyone and everything anywhere all at once no matter what but... he chooses not to and he doesn't like computers! So he isn't!
NTA but a character being really fricking powerful doesn't mean he's a gary stu.
Don’t you know, Aku is a Gary Stu?
Brock pops BH's neck whilst he's rambling.
Brock is fricked in that fight get real.
>Popping the neck of a guy who has lovecraftian physiology and can just turn into a mass of amorphous flesh with teeth or vanish into thin air
A bit, yeah. I much preferred him as an eldritch arms merchant rather than emperor of the universe.
wypipo be like dis cartoon too spicy
Having reality bending powers will give that impression
I like the show and apparently so did enough people where it got an English translation
Whatever, he's cool. Hope the show is back soon.
Yes
Yeah, that's why the actual series episodes made him Mr. Burns while Flug and the rest are the main focus
Was more than the first episode of this ever subbed? Not watching the dub.
Yeah there’s a sub to the first 5 episodes. Dub changed their voices. Sounds alright. It’s also on HBO max but was pirated too.
He is a gary stu and that's a good thing
My dad could beat him up.
Yes.
Why are women attracted to him?
Powerful landowner who is dressed very dapper and is hyper-confident
I NEED THE SECOND HALF OF SEASON ONE ALAN
Too busy fapping to Heed, please understand
>Too busy fapping to Heed
Relatable.
The current lore of Black Hat
>Black Hat is truly horrible, and he’d exploit any kind of suffering.
>White Hat is currently "winning" and the status quo currently is that light wins and dark loses, that's how things are
>However, what no one knows is that they're actually the same entity maintaining some balance.
Nah, he operates more as a force of nature than a main character in the show.
>Black Hat sometimes does anything evil to motivate Demencia (she considers it flirting) to fight harder
She will win!
>Nobody knows what makes Black Hat like you, but Demencia would probably be the first one to find out. Alan says that maybe the concept is explored in the future.
So it is written…
I miss the gay tumblr smut with this dude
I hope that part stays dead.
She will never get him.
That’s not Dementia and Black Hat.
i suspected she was catwoman
also spanish is spanish compared to english
idk waht that is i thought he wasa mickey
What?
More importantly. Where can you watch this?
Max and Youtube. That or check archives
When’s the other eps coming out?
I think he’s neato.
Could you think of a deal to make with him that doesn’t monkey’s paw you? He does take challenge contracts if you dare him.
It would be impossible. BH likes finding loopholes.
>contract based on your thoughts
BH controls your mind
>BH cannot affect my mind or the deal is null
He has someone else do it.
>nobody can effect my mind
Puts you in a void.
There’s no winning.
The deals are generally just a formality he does to spice things up and be more intimate in fricking you over where you thought you had some chance. He doesn't really 'have' to honor them, though he twists things that ultimately end up benefiting his organization regardless. Like he ended up honoring the Sunblast deal, but Penumbra ultimately ended up supplying super tech and constantly aiding his organization
Loses to Dr Manhattan.
Does Dr M affect the meta of his comic?
No. BH wins by virtue of meta frickery.
Actually, he is aware of the fact that Superman always pops up because he makes money, so yes.
True, but a lot of people do
Soon
Yes, finally.
Huh cool
I’m glad Villainous still manages to survive after all the new stuff was canned.
ITT: mexicans pretending to not be mexicans in the most Hispanic board of all
This is just mexican Hellsing.
Hellsing is good thoughever
No. And if you think he is, then you're stupid.
Villanous can throw all the punches he want to other shows but the moment OK KO throw a punch back, Alan has to justify Black Hat defeat with a clon excuse instead of taking the hit
Pretty patetic if you ask me
What beat him in that show? Never saw it
Some guy taking over or cancelling cartoons.
That was established before that episode. He had 4 clones.
>patetic
That was addressed. It was the powerless double made by Flug's invention from the shorts
Huh. That was Black Hat’s biggest fear…
yeah and it's lame. Comes off as not being able to handle what you dish out
BH can do
to other shows but when he's the one getting the short end of the stick it's "oh it wasn't actually him the real one would totally win"
>"oh it wasn't actually him the real one would totally win"
I'm just now realizing that Black Hat as a character is the embodiment of the 'nah I'd win' meme.
>but he's not a gary stu bro he chooses to lose bro
No, it reads as Black Hat made that thing and it was his greatest fear. Being made powerless. I never realized it before.
Black Hat has been the main reason why I never gave the show much of a chance.
is so egregious and badly done, that I couldn't give a shit about
as an excuse for it.
>Doombot shit
Those are made by Flug.
If black hat wanted to go out with you would you be able to say no or would he just kill you
>Thinking I’d refuse.
I would frick the shit out of Black Hat in a heart beat.
Dem would kill you before you could go.
Hopefully she eats me.
Black Hat likes making shit unbearable. So you either get tortured for the rest of your life or
if it was made by yuropoors or mutts then they would have forced the show to put some unnecessary and boring gay relationship, and maybe a troony or two
He's not just a gary stu, he's basically a deviant art style OC character.
Like he's literally a late 00s style EPIC BACON EBIL OF DOOM!!! tumblr man, who's AcTUaLly totally deep and mysterious, and you just don't get him.
He was around before the sexy man era.
homie the tumblr sexy man archetype is older than Tumblr itself, let alone fricking Black Hat.
He’s older than the tumblr era of it. That’s all I’m saying.
Tumblr's sexy man era goes back to at least the 11th Doctor, which is years before the Villainous web series even started, it just didn't use that moniker yet.
Black Hat’s design existed before then. He’s a remnant of Kingdom Hearts fandom.
>His original design, at the time named "Mr ?", was first uploaded to DeviantArt in 2008
BH is a Deviantart character.
Alright, where’s the porn of him?
I like the little character design details of him.
https://magma.com/d/HgZIDS9d5R
Coomer character
Hell yes.
I miss invader Zim.
