I think starting with the Grayson series they started leaning more towards Spider-man over Daredevil. Where they wanted him to be a bit more fun and quick witted over being more stern. Now he is fixed in that role.
Grayson was unique. Not like anything Marvel was putting out at the time. Taylor's run is like Fraction's Hawkeye meets Slott Spidey with shittier villains.
