Massive amounts of money. Euphoria is one of the biggest television shows in history. HBO would be fools to not give S3 a chance to make money. But we likely won't get it until fricking 2026 because the strikes destroyed the pre-production.
The Idol was a career-shattering disaster and most of Euphoria's main cast are busy doing other things (and likely will be for the foreseeable future). Any chance of story continuity is fricked because the cast would have aged another 4-5 years by the time it gets running and it will be laughable to pass them off as high schoolers (it was already a stretch in S2). It's over.

It retroactively paints a lot of Euphoria in a really negative light.
