It was incredibly boring and nothing happened for the 5 episodes I watched. Also the casting and acting is pretty bad like all apple tv shows
All Apple shows have great effects and sets and stuff but the writing is always trash
The reason I asked about this show was because I just started watching Apple's stuff, and I really liked Coda, Severance, and Black Bird. My impression from those is that (by modern standards) Apple is maintaining a high quality of work with actors, writers, and special effects people who actually know what they're doing.
However, beyond the obvious couple of veterans, I don't like the look of the line up for this with that annoying looking black Harry Potter guy and a lot of no-names. I also think an adaptation of Asimov's work always has a risk of being a pretentious bore and a waste of time. Sounds like I was on the right track with the acting and boredom parts from some replies.
For anyone who watched this and Silo, which would you recommend?
Silo is the same, cool concept great setting and sets, but the plot ends up being a boring murder mystery and it’s written like “you don’t know the bad guy” but it’s obvious the whole time
For all mankind is pretty good but it’s running into the girl power bullshit too hard in the third season. Still worth a watch I hope they can turn it around in season 4
agree on Ted Lasso
normie core done really well. very comfy.
silo was annoying after sorta enjoying the book. took some concepts that would have been pretty compelling on tv and deleted/neutered them
in fairness, the whole point of the Foundation is that individuals don’t matter at all to its ultimate victory. even Asimov couldn’t really make the idea work, though.
Completely missed the book there >It is impossible to predict the actions of one individual but it is possible to predict the actions of a big mass of individuals, the greater the mass the more accurate the prediction >With 38 trillion citizens in the empire I have predicted that...
Meanwhile in the series >I have predicted the actions of this single black girl and a derelict spaceship
For the Cleon and Demerzel stuff. Gaal Dornick sucks.
I thought the the black chick with the flat top was gonna suck but Salvor Hardin is more likable than her mother. Why is Gaal Dornick the main character?
The plot is that Hari Seldon could simulate the future and these was some 3000-10000 year dark age because the Empire Collapsed.
So he was creating a new backup Empire and started a Star War and dark age that would only last 300-1000 years.
I hat her whole “dark age of 10000 years” nonsense that isn’t how long such things take place
If the empire collapses thousands of new political entities will form in its place its only “dark” sue tot he collapse of centralized authority over everything
And in then1st ep of season 2 the balck girl says “if we don’t stop it the dark ages could last forever”
I means humans get stranded on the planets they live in and go back to the stone age or planet-locked industrial age until they go extinct on their planets or evolve far away from humanity into new species over thousands of years in isolation.
They want to preserve "galactic civilization" and keep the trade and communication between planets active.
Hari Seldon doesn't want humans to take a 10,000 year break from going into Halo Forerunner tier. Wants humans to go "dyson sphere' star manipulators sooner rather than later.
sucks when they clearly don't get what they're adapting, or the person who kickstarted the production gets completely overruled by people who think audiences wont want to watch something that isn't completely fricking moronic.
In fairness, Foundation source material is moderately interesting, but besides The Mule, it's scifi aimed at nerds. Normies aren't interested in most of the non Mule plots.
One of the best visuals in sci-fi TV series ever done. Impressive acting from Lee Pace , plus if you a fan of Jared Harris and more grounded sci-fi then you have to watch.
Notice how Lee Pace is front and centre in the season two marketing? Think they realized he, and the other two cleons are the only reason people would want to watch the show.
I can see Apple axing this after the second season. Nobody talks about it, and Goyer is a hack.
Severance, and Slow Horses are well written. For all Mankind is dumb, but fun alt-history slop
Didn't read the books but it's OK gadget porn if you like things like that. The series feels bleak and depressing throughout. There's zero laughs, only sad and serious faces.
they said that it had been over 130+ or something since the Invictus incident message, but they were too pre-occupied with the genetic dynasty incursion.
so i'm guessing we're a handful of days gone, i don't think they're going for an immortal or even lengthened lifespan thing (even though it's not too far fetched with things like telomeres).
The main season 1 day was cleon the 14th, in the first ep of season 2 it says he’s cleon the 17th meaning three whole cleons have passed since the end of season 1
That’s literally the plot in season episode one, the clowns are degrading so cleon the 17th is arranging a marriage with a powerful queen in the empire to have kids and start a real dynastic line
how many years passed? 173 years? So the Cleon lifespan is 120? 150?
Day started off 12 and was 13 at season finale.
Season 2 Day is 17.
4 Day Cleons have been annointed in173 years. 14, 15, 16, 17. Dawn is an adult in Season 2 like he was at the end of season one. 173/4. 43 ish years.
Original Cleon probably had a 120-160 year lifespan?
The clones aren't allowed to outlive the original. If one dies before max life, they replace him with a flash clone. I think they upload their memories.
did they fix the dynasty genes or not?
they fixed the colorblindness. I think they did. They already deviated from stock Cleon genome.
Then we located all your posts and threads, past and present. The first dubs you got, the 2D waifu you gave your virginity to. Your big guys and co-posters, even those here in the thread. We located their posts and threads, basically anyone in your extended chan. In short the anons that would remember you after you're banned. Even as we speak every member of your personal constellation is under our surveillance, a range ban targeting each of their IP's. At my signal they will all cease to post.
no. They literally throw out the entire concept of the books, for some generic 2018 GIRL WHO IS SECRETLY THE KEY TO EVERYTHING plot, with spaceships and lazers
Didn't they literally raceswap white male protagonists of the books to black women?
From what I'm hearing, they're barely following the books, even excluding woke stuff
do you wanna see a naked lee pace fight a handful of eyeless assassins after his robo mommygf gets her head cut in half midcoitus? if yes, you should watch foundation
Probably not.
Too much of a vile CGI mess for me personally.
The cleons are interesting but the other 2/3’ds of the show is dogshit
Like all Apple plus shows the production quality is top tier but the writing is always meh
The reason I asked about this show was because I just started watching Apple's stuff, and I really liked Coda, Severance, and Black Bird. Foundation challenge:
Name one character that is currently alive in the foundation.
in fairness, the whole point of the Foundation is that individuals don’t matter at all to its ultimate victory. even Asimov couldn’t really make the idea work, though.
which is weird that they made s1 all about the black girl being the chosen one
Completely missed the book there

Forever? Dumbest line I’ve heard in a long time

Cleon (three of his many iterations) and the only part of the show that’s worth watching
It was incredibly boring and nothing happened for the 5 episodes I watched. Also the casting and acting is pretty bad like all apple tv shows
At least Lee Pace and Jared Harris are there. Wasted on this show ofc.
I'm only on episode 3 and it seems ok so far, but the skipping around constantly in the timeline is annoying.
One of the best visuals in sci-fi TV series ever done. Impressive acting from Lee Pace , plus if you a fan of Jared Harris and more grounded sci-fi then you have to watch.
There's something to be said about the excessive production value. I don't think I've ever watched a more expensive show.
It's a shame then, that it's only watchable when the scenes involve the emperors. Every other facet of the story is wholly uninteresting.

that's a lot of Black folk!
is this just one big metaphor for israelites controlling history through "prophecy"?
here for empire but Gaal is sexo
Cleon and robot waifu are the only good part.
sexo Demrezel
Nope.
Didn't read the books but it's OK gadget porn if you like things like that. The series feels bleak and depressing throughout. There's zero laughs, only sad and serious faces.
>There's zero laughs, only sad and serious faces.
good, marvel style quips are a cancer
I like it. Season 2 pilot seemed like good start for season
how long do cleons last? is s2 dusk day from last season?
isnt he the same day?
>173 years later
they said that it had been over 130+ or something since the Invictus incident message, but they were too pre-occupied with the genetic dynasty incursion.

Cleons are killed off when the reach the age the original Cleon died to the day.
80? 90?
I think they're 30 years apart. When Dusk hits 90, he gets killed. They cast a new Dawn. Dawn becomes Day and Day becomes Dusk.
The main season 1 day was cleon the 14th, in the first ep of season 2 it says he’s cleon the 17th meaning three whole cleons have passed since the end of season 1
did they fix the dynasty genes or not?
no, they mention those in s02e01
why?
i don't remember. didn't they say that it's all fricked up in the last season? could be imagining things.
That’s literally the plot in season episode one, the clowns are degrading so cleon the 17th is arranging a marriage with a powerful queen in the empire to have kids and start a real dynastic line

I could see the nogs from the thumbnail so no
