Depends on the MechWarrior really. MW4 sucks with a mouse but is fine for MW2 and MW3. MW2 isn't great with a joystick due to it's weird absolute axis aiming but is perfect for MW4.
MechWarrior is harder to play with a joystick. It's basically a FPS/TPS, not a flight simulation game.

You just suck. I would only agree with you if you couldn't remap the default key bindings.
Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's an old game and firing all of your weapons is going to be annoying. Depending on your mech, you sometimes have to do the 123456... dance on your keyboard when going for an alpha strike.
Just to be sure, if you're instead thinking about MW5 instead of MW4, then please don't get it on console.
but you can literally set it up that the weapons groups fire in sequence?
Of course, but a weapon group with a different set combination of weapons is another dedicated key binding, which is fine on a keyboard but not fine on a controller with more limited buttons.
MW5 is easier to play on a controller since it was partially designed for it. They still shove lots of usual functions into a sub-menu.
As for not playing it on console, you definitely 100% want to be playing MW5 with mods. I wouldn't even play MW5 without YAML, vonBiomes, and Coyotes Mission Pack. MW5's vanilla mech lab is extremely restrictive.
>MW4 sucks with a mouse
What? Mouse is perfect for torso movement because it allows you to do very fine adjustments; and the option to move the reticle separately in MW3 makes it even better.
Absolute fallacy perpetuated by these shit games. The 'mechs in the actual lore are graceful and capable of highly dexterous actions with an experienced mechwarrior in control. These dogshit games don't even let you aim at two different targets.
That's true but the gameplay hasn't changed since the 90's either. Games like AC and even ZOE to an extent could have been used as influences on bringing MW closer to Battletech but too much work for western devs clearly.
I don't think it was impossible from a design standpoint but 90s computer gaming was still stuck in the rut of "we got a keyboard so use every key" type of game development. That kind of streamlined controls AC had came about due to having to fit things on a pre-analog PS1 pad. MW2 on consoles holds up decently. Really the only thing that made markedly different from PC was the lack of mechlab and the in stage power ups.
Have you tried Archive.org?

You're welcome.
virustotal sees it as infected as frick
Virus total says for everything related to piracy btw
If you are that scared use a vm and test it
Stop using Virus Total.
I VT'd the download link on the page, and the only red mark was from Quttera saying it's "malicious" and nothing else.

holy frick no way

modders are such homosexuals
How hard is Mechwarrior without a joystick?
its fine, mechwarrior is designed for mkb
Essentially impossible. The kb+m are beyond atrocious.

Can it work with a PS4 controller?
Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's an old game and firing all of your weapons is going to be annoying. Depending on your mech, you sometimes have to do the 123456... dance on your keyboard when going for an alpha strike.

That's what weapon groups are for.

Can't the PS4 controller's joysticks be simply relagated for getting your mech to move in a full circle?
Also you mentioned not to play MW5 on consoles. Why?

The janky controls kind of add to the immersion if you think about it

Kinda hard to replicate that on PC in the 90s, AC captured that feeling however

That's I played them growing up. It's fun.
ur talking about mechwarrior 3 anon, that shit is impossible to find without viruses, 4 works just fine
