I mean it clearly starts that way but then there are villains, magic battles and new party members about 10 episodes in, it's one of those "make shit up as we go along" written shows.
I tried to watch Violet Evergarden but couldn't get into it, which is a shame since I wanted to like it due to the nice art and setting. I don't know why, but most Kyoani shows can't keep my attention at all and I end up dropping them after a few episodes. Only recent one I've kept watching is Maid Dragon.
Every time I see someone post this show on a board that isn't Cinemaphile someone always brings up how ZASED and REDPILLED it is for having standard anime demons as bad guys
Aside from that the animation is nice and it's regular fantasy instead of isekai so zoomers are creaming their sweatpants over it, the bar is pretty fricking low these days
>standard anime demons as bad guys
I don't think they're standard at all, unlike most shows where they're quirky bad guys with tails and wings (and often are fighting good guy demons/devils) or corrupted people that are pitiable, in this they're completely irredeemable monsters that only look like people on the outside. Most shows that I can think of that go that direction make them monstrous creatures on the outside to match, so there's no possible sympathy to be had.
Well the point was that they appear as generic fantasy-anime demons first meaning just humans with horns who also want to live etc. but then turn out to be pretty irredeemable monsters who need to be exterminated which made for a nice subversion i guess.
I dropped the manga becasue everyone is boring unemotinal robots. I dropped it around where they fight this guy that is from the Old Man's home town and he kills ppl but he has a contract he supposed to obey. It got really boring since then.
I’m enjoying it a lot
I like how they really think about frieren’s immortality and show how it impacts small things for her.
The lore is interesting and in particular the way the author has decided to define what a demon is, is very novel and satisfying.
Or magic research over time analogized to weapons development so that the once unstoppable soul-track become standard magic that everyone knows, and when the demon prodigy who invented it reawakens 80 years later, he is easily defeated because technology (magic) has improved so much
In the end it’s another comfy medieval setting with attractive white people doing cool shit, and no Black folk or homosexuals.
I don't know man why don't you got watch it for yourself instead of asking on Cinemaphile
It's pretty cheap looking but zoomers don't know what doctored up 3dcgi looks like so they just suck its wiener.
>slice of life
No
I mean it clearly starts that way but then there are villains, magic battles and new party members about 10 episodes in, it's one of those "make shit up as we go along" written shows.
It's not slice of life though, they fight almost every episode.
If they do it so often isn’t that their daily life?
My favorite slice of life movie is Saving Private Ryan
slice of fight, then
native isekai
Ask on a tranime board
What's the girl's full name, please.
>crappa
No
Isn't Mappa like 3 studios in one? Would explain why their quality fluctuates so much.
it's ok for an anime, or at least the manga was. Adaptation looks decent
Yeah, it's pretty good
I don't know, I turned it off halfway through the first episode. Bad animation and direction. I probably shouldn't watch new anime anymore.
>Ruri from Nadesico but with pointy ears
I know most anime is derivative but they even ripped off the outfit for fricks sake
I hate those bug eyes
I think it's pretty good and that's coming from someone who mostly grew out of anime.
She's racist?
Against demons(blacks with white skin) yes
These shows are so stupid. The “demons” are never real demons and just another race with horns or some other feature
That makes them demons normal humans don't have horns
Or you know some demons? Or horned humans
demons are immaterial. There have been people who have grown horns as well
>it looks beautiful
It looks generic
This is the 500 year old e-girl I have been telling you about
it looks beautiful. hahahaha fricking hell
It's Violet Evergarden, but worse.

Clannad is #1. It's moeblob but it's so damn good.
I did like Clannad as well actually, along with Haruhi outside of endless eight.
I fricking dropped Haruhi during endless 8.
Sofar its not bad, the animation is good and the dub is fine but the story has been lackluster

>more whimsical shounen slice of life with cute wholesome cozy themes
Oh god
I dropped the manga becasue everyone is boring unemotinal robots. I dropped it around where they fight this guy that is from the Old Man's home town and he kills ppl but he has a contract he supposed to obey. It got really boring since then.
This is the hottest anime of the season, a modern classic
I’m enjoying it a lot
I like how they really think about frieren’s immortality and show how it impacts small things for her.

I'm 3 episodes in. It's pretty boring with bland characters. Not much plot going on either.
Watchable, but, there's better stuff out there.
It starts as sol but it gets more plot development a couple episodes in. Still not amazing but worth watching.
Nah.
