All alleged popular Marvel characters feel Astroturfed

      Carol
      Kamala
      Black Panther

        >Kamala
She was popular but Marvel pushed her too hard, killing the initial appeal.

Do you consider the 1998 Christopher Priest run putting the character back on the map to be "astroturfing," or are you just butthurt that the movie exists?

Not them but I do not hate T'Challa. I hate the fans of that movie.

Miles only appered with Gwen and Peter in children shows. Interacted with Peter in his main comic a handful of time and never took over multiple teams and had movies adaptation.
He is nowhere close to Harley.
Also technical Gwen is a bigger astroturf because Marvel struggle selling her books and have to cancel them to start a new. This happen 3 times.

Astroturfing isn’t really about liking vs disliking, it’s basically presenting an idea as already liked, already popular, even if they aren’t. Maybe they become authentically popular later, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t astroturfed

To be fair this was Stan Lee’s entire shtick. The carnival barker as they called him. I remember shatterstar and tigra and various other absolute randoms being shoved in my face in the late 80s early 90s.

“Grassroots” refers to things which come up from the people. “After the scandal, there was a huge grassroots campaign to get the mayor out of office.”
Astroturf, literally speaking, is the fake grass which is used on football fields
      So it’s a pun
