Starkiller failed though, so bad he died and had a clone come alive just to fail again.
Rey would have succeeded her first try and killed both Vader and Palpatine.
The difference between why Starkiller works and Rey doesn't is because Starkiller is a playable character in a video game that's obviously meant to be a total power fantasy. If the roles were reversed and Starkiller replaced Rey and Rey replaced Starkiller with the same writing/situation, people would rightfully shit on Starkiller because he would be a moronic character to have to sit through and watch through film
Starkiller might be somewhat a Gary Sue but God damn if he is not a billion times better than Rey in character. I don't care if he can pull star cruisers from space and crash then into planets. He is fun. Rey is
I don't understand why people are saying Starkiller is a Gary Stu, he was trained from when he was little by Darth Vader. Luke is more of a Gary Stu than him being able to fly an X wing and being able to duel Vader without ever practice sparring. And the developers always said the gameplay was not indicative of what was actually happening.
Eh, your examples dont work here. It was established he could fly, the inferrence that his pal joined the RA means experience with the T16 skyhopper was enough to pilot an xwing, and he had spareing practice which was evidenced during the cave sequence on dagobah, you dense, dumb mother fricking c**t.
He's supposed to be "two parts Han Solo, one part Darth Maul, one part Indiana Jones [...] and then one essential part Luke Skywalker"
as per Witwer's comments.
>can pull back a star destroyer with the force >unparalleled lightsaber abilities >has light and darkside powers
He was laughably OP. Fun to play as in a videogame, but making him canon is silly.
Revan is canon and I fricking hate it. That motherfricker has Force Drain. He's so ass-blastingly powerful with just that alone compared to anyone from the films and even when he does inevitably show up in something Disney just to be ruined, he's never gonna use that cool game shit.

Isn't Force Drain more of a Nihilus thing? Regardless, all of these abilities have existed in the old and new EU for a while now.

Plus who the frick cares about Canon?
No, it isn't. Plo Koon even invented his own variant of Force Lightning, and the main protagonist of Jedi Academy, canonically, could use "proper" Force Lightning without tapping into the Dark Side, something which actually disturbed him.
No, he can't. Play the time, he is simply altering the trajectory of an already downing spaceship. Still an impressive feat, but not pulling it from orbit.
I like to split Star Wars fans into 4 categories. >OT purists. >EU purists. >2008 Filoni (Early Disney era) >Disney purists
Ahsoka fans are 2080/Disney. The same flavour of tard.
Still not as OP as EU Palps. Coincidentally, the person who killed the OG Starkiller.
Starkiller was more or less on Vader's level but without as many limitations due to him being a cyborg.
As an EUhead I loved reading how they kept parts of the flesh on his hands so he could be able to conjure sith lightning unlike Vader.
He was very clearly a powerfantasy vidya character, but I was the intended audience for that at the time, and I ate it up. Sequel was kind of disappointing sadly.
Never would understand why Vader just didn't have arc batteries in his robot arms for ghetto tesla coil lightning he could just direct with his mind. Ion blasters are still a thing even in the shitty nu-canon.
I didn't even notice that at first. I don't like the idea of Inquisitors in general, but I'd make an exception if Vader gets to have his secret apprentice.
I've sometimes wondered what would be the reception if Ashoka and Galen merged into one character and had a similar arc where she then becomes a Sith.

Moving a star destroyer is ridiculous, but this is the canon of the force. Yoda in empire moves a x wing saying "it does not fricking matter how heavy it is", aka force push/grip doesn't work on telekinesis math, it works on your own belief. If you really can believe you can move an airplane, you can do it.
Also force awakens 1 is the best sw game on par with academy 2.

Because the movies are simply trying to recapture the OT every time in some way, and end up being remakes of it in some capacity or another (out of fear).
That's why an otherwise mediocre space western is right now the best Star Wars media. It's doing something different.
Yes. He's even acknowledged in TCW. Funnily enough, they almost made Revan canon before he officially became canon later on, but they pussied out at the time.
True. Still would've been a neat detail though. I basically grasp onto whatever I can when it comes to TCW because the aspects I do like are few.
I could never get behind the pseudo 3D animation and that in itself made me consider the show kind of inferior to what came before it. But there are some strokes of good writing here and there.
A lot of the characters from the old EU are canon in the current one, but their stories are different, or sometimes missing like you said.
We'll see what they do with the Revan game. But from what I've read, it's supposed to be a "shot for shot" remake of the original, meaning they could potentially change nothing about the story.
As for Bane, it remains to be seen what they'll do with him.
Not sure. They might proclaim it canon when it comes out.

I doubt that will happen because it's very specific to Kylo Ren. I know some variation of it appeared in Rebels but that's just lazy writing like the helicopter sabers.
It was designed especially for Kylo to make him stand out in some way.
What is there to fit? Is fricking Kylo Ren going to show up at some point or what? Or are we going to have a grand reveal that Rey is somehow Revan's descendant, because she wasn't Mary Sue enough?

KOTOR was fricking millenia ago. You can justify everything with the unreliable narrator or the knowledge lost to time.

I don't think the hyperdrive exists in Disney's TOR era for starters.
Some version of Revan is canon but not much is known about him.
Technically the events of Kotor 1 and 2 could be made canon and not much will change in the grand scheme of things, so they may as well.
If you watch the end of RoS the sith troopers do such stupid shit when fighting Rey. One of them stands still and doesn't do anything at one point and another shoots straight up into the sky. It's like the director didn't even care anymore.
I mean, in general watching RoS is like watching the house of cards falling apart right in front of our eyes. I think at this point even JJ has given up.
This is what you get for a) not planning out your trilogy, b) hiring some trolling chucklefrick to write and direct the second part.
Yes. He even shows up in TCW speaking to Yoda who is training to force ghost. Which is sorta weird because Lucas originally planned a scene of Bane and Revam speaking to the Son but decided it went against his views of the Force. Sith so not persist outside the Force after death. It is only achievable by Jedi. Hence why it is proven Anakin was redeemed.
>Which is sorta weird because Lucas originally planned a scene of Bane and Revam speaking to the Son but decided it went against his views of the Force.
He could've just handwaved it away with them being Sith holocrons or something. That's how Darth Krayt has a chat with Darth Nihilus IIRC. It's not the most fruitful conversation, because you know, Darth Nihilus.
>Were these games good to go on PC now?
Whenever you have a question like that, just look if they're on GOG. If they are, then they're playable.
(I just looked and they are)
They are. I always found the KB+M controls a bit wonky when it came to tossing shit around with the force though. The controls in the sequel were much better.
In a timeline where Disney wasn't the one to buy the rights, we could have been having Kyle Katarn, Jaden Korr, or Luke rebuilds the Jedi order TV shows.
No, no, this isn't the case of "Cinemaphile has a shit taste". Starkiller games really were as liked as DmC was when they came out. Mostly people shitting on it for story because it wasn't Kotor2 tier, and Mary Sue MC.
To be fair, the game IS fun to play. It's just the story is completely batshit insane. It starts off well enough and then it goes into crazy town territory.
And I don't see a lot of people defending this game's story.
Did they ever give any hints to what they were planning with that game?
I know 1313 got canned, as well as the Maul game, but I never read anything about a TFU 3.
Apparently, per Witwer, that's what TFU 3 was going to be about with, and I'm paraphrasing, a "huge twist that he doesn't even want to talk about because it could still be used in a later Star Wars story."
Canon just means Dark Side Timeline.
Star Wars has multiple timelines now?
Legends = expanded material released pre-disney
Canon = expanded material released post-disney

The protagonist of the sequel is a clone of the original Galen. His parents were both Jedi Knights.
Eh, your examples dont work here. Fun fact: Jedi and Sith have the same power set, they can do whatever they want. The "Light Side" is a conceit.
“Remember, abilities aren't inherently good or evil... it's how you use them.”
Pulling a Force Choke on space orks is an objective good so the Force looks the other way.
>>has light and darkside powers
Is using lightning and a choke really evil?

That's why an otherwise mediocre space western is right now the best Star Wars media. It's doing something different.

Sam Witwer is actually my pick for Cade Skywalker
Had no idea he was the Day's Gone guy
is that game any good?
Is Darth BANE canon
Yes. He's even acknowledged in TCW. Funnily enough, they almost made Revan canon before he officially became canon later on, but they pussied out at the time.
To be fair, it seems like in TCW Revan was just a generic Sith Lord, rather than this rather complex and clusterfricky Sith/Jedi.
TCW was aggressively bland.
True. Still would've been a neat detail though. I basically grasp onto whatever I can when it comes to TCW because the aspects I do like are few.
I could never get behind the pseudo 3D animation and that in itself made me consider the show kind of inferior to what came before it. But there are some strokes of good writing here and there.
Seems only the character is Canon but none of their story is.
Is the remake not just Legend's still?
Not sure. They might proclaim it canon when it comes out.
They could shove shit in like Crossguard sabers too which would legitimise it
Crossguard sabers are so goddamn lame. I wish they would stop trying to outdo the lightsaber in design.
It's already perfect and you can't out-cool it.
Its meant to be old
Don't care, they look like DeviantArt cringe.
Its the reason
And it's a shitty one
No u
I doubt that will happen because it's very specific to Kylo Ren. I know some variation of it appeared in Rebels but that's just lazy writing like the helicopter sabers.
It was designed especially for Kylo to make him stand out in some way.
I thought they've already confirmed that the KOTOR remake will have to fit in with the rest of Disney shit which means it'll suck.
What is there to fit? Is fricking Kylo Ren going to show up at some point or what? Or are we going to have a grand reveal that Rey is somehow Revan's descendant, because she wasn't Mary Sue enough?
I think Mandalore doesn't work with new Canon or something. Same as the Sith race.
KOTOR was fricking millenia ago. You can justify everything with the unreliable narrator or the knowledge lost to time.
I don't think the hyperdrive exists in Disney's TOR era for starters.
they're saying it's going to be faithful
we'll see what happens
if it's something like diablo 2, or in other words just a facelift, i'm down with that
Some version of Revan is canon but not much is known about him.
I don't remember a single thing from that movie at this point. I knew what to expect.
Are you talking about the throne room fight where Kylo kills Smoke? It is beyond bad. Imperial Guards just running and swinging in random directions.
No the Palpatine fight.
?t=28
I mean, in general watching RoS is like watching the house of cards falling apart right in front of our eyes. I think at this point even JJ has given up.
This is what you get for a) not planning out your trilogy, b) hiring some trolling chucklefrick to write and direct the second part.
The shitty Shredder version.
You mean Darth Shredder?
Why does he wear the mask
He's a big Sith.
I remember the last time I looked into it they were a buggy crashy trainwreck so I never bothered

I will be honest... as zoomers can't remember it. You do realize the whole Cinemaphile board was shitting on the games when they came out, right?
Cinemaphile shits on any western made game after 2006 with a few exceptions
especially GoW clones
No, no, this isn't the case of "Cinemaphile has a shit taste". Starkiller games really were as liked as DmC was when they came out. Mostly people shitting on it for story because it wasn't Kotor2 tier, and Mary Sue MC.
To be fair, the game IS fun to play. It's just the story is completely batshit insane. It starts off well enough and then it goes into crazy town territory.
And I don't see a lot of people defending this game's story.
When people talk about "bringing things into Canon" you sound like battered housewives.
>there will never be a proper Republic Commando sequel
General.... Malacho---------r
Based Bao-Dur
force unleashed was kino
>We'll never get TFU 3 co-op where Galen and Vader have to survive together on a hostile jungle planet
Did they ever give any hints to what they were planning with that game?
I know 1313 got canned, as well as the Maul game, but I never read anything about a TFU 3.
Apparently, per Witwer, that's what TFU 3 was going to be about with, and I'm paraphrasing, a "huge twist that he doesn't even want to talk about because it could still be used in a later Star Wars story."
the vidya lineup just before the disney purchase really seemed strong
does Hayden not age?
doesnt look 41
>doesnt look 41
You're faceblind.
He does and he doesn't. Basically, outside of some wrinkles, he still looks youthful and has a youthful voice too.
Jumper 2 soon, right Hayden bros?
