But the entire dilemma and all of Fionna and Cake's interferences into other realities are caused by the one thing Prismo did as an afterthought: writing and forgetting about his extended universe OCs. He didn't even bother cleaning up Simon's head after Finn and Jake passed. He has quite literally all the time in the world to actually do his job. Just because he's depressed his favorite show got cancelled because Jake and then Finn died doesn't excuse his recklessness. And he even has the gaul to tell the victims of his dereliction and violation that they have to be the ones to fix it. You're looking at them as people instead of characters. Prismo is a literal Flat-2D character in a cartoon. Like Scarab, his characterization revolves around his job. It's an unfortunate writing convention to frame characters in a social milieu as if it's society that defines who they are.
Rebecca Sugar would talk about episode concepts for Steven Universe, picturing him waking up alone a mushroom forest. And the show's writers would shoot it down like "That's not a real story".
It is a story. Just not a character-driven drama that requires at least 2 characters to interact.
