That's a response to declining sales for the reasons Robert explained. Comics are dying so they pander to people who don't read comics because they think they might. Go broke, go woke.
He’s not wrong, but the way this comic is written, it sounds like the writers are trying to pass the blame to “le capitalism” yet again. No personal accountability from those in the entertainment industry at all.
Who do you feel is personally responsible, anon? What do you think the cause is, if not the oversaturation of capeslop and a stubborn refusal to give up on floppies?
>words words words
Why do visual mediums like comics feel the need to write books inside their speech bubbles?
said, but that’s just a symptom of a greater problem.
The modern day writer is too self-absorbed and high off his education to write anything interesting or meaningful. They’re a bunch of Squidwards writing to an audience that expects Spongebobs.
2017's FCBD issue
I don't think the full issue's been scanned though
There was one guy scanning the series (it never went digital) and he just went MIA with nobody picking up where he left off
>Lack of variety
Absolutely true. The Big 2 publish around 80% of America’s comics and almost all of it is superheroes. The indies aren’t doing so well either so of course the LCS’s are going to lean heavily on Marvel/DC. >Monopolistic distribution system
This USED to be true at the time this apparently came out, but Diamond has been replaced as Marvel and DC’s distributor with Penguin Random House thanks to the covid shitshow where LCS’s weren’t open for a good chunk of the year. They still won’t show the numbers for that year.
Spongebob wouldn't say that.
Don't forget shitty writing. Pic related.
Shitty writing from leftist ideals
Only a college-educated dipshit talks like this without realizing THEY’RE the problem
Also how about driving away long time fans in an effort to court troons who dont read comics?

How could he read comics if he lives underwater?
Waterproof paper, duh
BBBBBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTTTTTTT
AHHHHHHHHH!
>lack of variety
They’re all so preachy now, sure
>monopolistic distribution system
Would the comics be better if any butthole could write them like these dropouts want you to believe?
Distribution =/= production, moron
>distribution
Right, the small comic shops these people are ruining with their shit quality

Diamond's monopoly died years ago
They don’t have any other scapegoats
This issue came out before the monopoly collapsed
If you want to write Calvin & Hobbs, write Calvin & Hobbs. SpongeBob is neither Calvin or Hobbs and therefore should not talk like them.
The guy who wrote it, Jay Lender, literally worked on the show since Season 2
When did this comic come out?
