I think with adapting cape shit this was always inevitable. You start with the most popular characters and move down from there. When you're doing a movie about a genderbent character that only exists because of some weird copyright bullfrickery in the 70's there's just not a lot of people that are going to care. The X-Men? Hulk? Spider-Man? They can still fill a theatre given the right circumstances. Thor and Ironman weren't superstars before their part in the MCU but they were handled well and portrayed by likeable actors. Everyone knows Brie Larson is a bit of a stuck up ass with a chip on her shoulder.

i've noticed it some time ago with my frens and family. Many of them stopped caring and the new generation is just not into it. I have a brother who could work as a one man test audience. I can predict box office scores based on how much he likes a movie. If he likes it, he won't say it's good, he uses the word "handsome" to describe it, i know the movie will do well. If he hates it, movie will flop. Worked literally every time so far. With recent marvels he just doesn't even care about watching them
