After Rusty gets everything he ever wanted and they move to New York, his character motivations sort of stop. And Monarch had his power reset again so his arch was weak too, even if his wife was a mover and shaker
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the venture brothers. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Doctor Venture's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike the Venture Brothers truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Hank and Dean's existencial catchphrase "Go Team Venture," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dock Hammer's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Venture Brothers tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
>To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the venture brothers.

Yeah you'll see shit that is a call back to one thing seasons ago. Or something they have been working on for a while, like Pete and Billy finally getting an arch.
Killing off the old guard
VB was gold if the old Adult Swim variety and largely spun off of the Spaceghost/Sealab crew. The combination of loooong production times and a dedicated but dwindling fanbase compounded with it being a relic of comedy from 20 years ago made it simply unprofitable.
Don't get me wrong, I'll never forgive them for pulling this shit, but this is simply what Adult Swim has become.
First four seasons are one of the best shows - not just cartoons - of the 00s. Then it lost its edge, they ran out of ideas and turned it into some uninspired superhero cartoon.
most of the humour is the rambling banter between characters that relies on knowing the characters rather than one liners or jokes that are easily clipped into out of context gifs or twitter length clips.

first few seasons are good
the move to NY was lame
I agree, 6 and 7 were too much plot and arcing storylines, not enough jokes and episodal plots. 4 is the peak and the perfect halfway point between the two IMO. 5 just felt like they werre waiting around with nothing to do for a whole season while they waited to go to NY. Definitely the weakest season.
The reason they left this kino compound is they got grants from the State of New York art funds to help offset costs as Adult Swim revenue dried up. But the artistic references and themes have skyrocketed in creativity. And they have been sitting on a long cliffhanger finale.
>Wouldn't it just fix up everything twisted up inside you if could frick wonderboy and your worst enemy at the same time? >Where do you want it captain? huh? where do you want my pussy?

Then he goes to the bathroom and starts grunting and struggling and we're howling with laughter until his mom came in and told us to shut the frick up and go to bed already
Later I learned his dad would beat his mom at the slightest annoyance

If you hate Venture Bros, you hate animation and passionate creators with a lot of freedom.
This is legitimately one of the most passionate tv shows ever created. Made by two dudes who fully own the rights to the show, they have as much freedom as they can get away with on public tv, and they've written the large majority of episodes and voiced most of the characters themselves along with all the concepts and designs for the world/characters. I've never seen a show that has many callbacks and references to past episodes as VB. A gag that appeared on screen for 3 seconds in season 2 will be referenced 4 seasons later, shit like that only happens when you have creators that truly care about and love the show they've made.
>they've written the large majority of episodes
they've written every episode, iirc

A big part of the humor, stated over and over, is call backs and such. So if you've only watched dribs and drabs you've missed stuff. But even then there are just solid bits. Though many of those require you to have seen Johnny Quest and such.
loved sealab in elementary school, and it definitely has it's moments... but pretty weak on the whole. definitely not anywhere near venture bros. squidbillies i love also but it had like 12 seasons of the exact same thing until unknown hinson finally went too far on twitter. athf was perfect and then slowly devolved into gore and it seemed like the creators were burnt out creatively. koth started pandering blatantly. frisky dingo was always stupid

The ship named after degrassi bit always gets me >you're a liar! >I can't believe they killed JT. >I know! And They hardly talked about it! like when Terri bashed her skull on that rock
They did Hadji. As a Mexican kid that tagged along with Rusty. Who, in typical Rusty fashion, was quickly forgotten about within the depths of the Venture Compound
the frick you talking about, they had a little mexican boy because it fits in better with the venture mythos >that little brown boy saved your life! can we keep him? >this aztec calendar says today's your lucky day

how much was it when it came out?
350 on ebay frick that
I bought it last May actually for 55 CAD.
I paid $24 for mine on release. I just found out I have a cbr version of the book, fricking lucky i could get both
$20, was a regular in clearance bins for $5
You guys are stoned im finding it for 50 dollars on various book depot sites. They mustve made millions of these
I got it in pdf on my home PC, if this thread is still up in 6 hours I will upload it somewhere
not when it started but by the end it was 100% reddit
It's very good but there's a lot of annoying shit in it. I even find the annoying shit charming for the most part but it's a niche show.

It's one of the only shows to be good from season 1 to season last. Im pensive about the movie though.
I really love the Barefoot wine football commercials with Brock Samson enjoying pinot grigio
Srsly how does this show get cancelled I understand the gap between seasons but it couldn't have been that expensive
Adult swim has been circling the drain for a good 10 years.
iirc it was Mike Lazzo leaving adult swim in 2019, he was the only reason they kept getting commisioned because he was a fan and they were all relics of the old Harvey Birdman/ATHF era of adult swim

the guild and osi bureaucracy stuff became very boring. Complete waste of animation time
S1 was the best with its semi self contained stories spoofing old Jonny Quest and Scooby Doo plots

post yfw the title "The Venture Bros" refers to Rusty and the Monarch
I mean, the title could allude to any of the 3 sets of venture brothers
You mean 30+ Hank and Dean have died 28 times each, and who knows how many clones were still in the incubation tubes before they all got blown up
What if it's really about the 4th set?
neither of you guys posted your faces, very disappointing

holy shit the sheer reddit in this thread is off the chart
>want to do a johnny quest parody
>they're too chickenshit to do hadji for fear of racism
yeah. that's reddit. day one
They did Hadji. As a Mexican kid that tagged along with Rusty. Who, in typical Rusty fashion, was quickly forgotten about within the depths of the Venture Compound
in other words they didn't do it
post more reddit copes, please
nevermind, you're a contrarian Black person fishing for (you)s
not to mention the actual Hadji working at a call center
Honestly, they thought way ahead to cancel proof themselves
the frick you talking about, they had a little mexican boy because it fits in better with the venture mythos
>that little brown boy saved your life! can we keep him?
>this aztec calendar says today's your lucky day
everything [adult swim] is peak reddit
yes even your precious MDE
No just archer, bobs burgers, Rick and morty, bojack and some of the other modern stuff
Only one of those is an adult swim original
And Bojack isn't even on AS, it's Netflix
>even your precious MDE
no not my le heckin based and redpilled gay israeli comedian
Any rips with all the commentary tracks? Listening to Doc and Jackson bullshit for half an hour was just as good as watching the episode normally
Looking for this as well.
Had them saved on my harddrive which decided to shit itself and that one website that hosted them has been taken down.
>I LOVE HITLER! AND HITLER LOVES ME!
It was based... beyond based. Have you listened to the fricking opening soundtrack? How could you deny it being so incredibly good? It got continuously funnier and rewarded people for sticking around.
>a single female character, who still sounds like a dude.
Gee, I wonder why this show was such a hoot?
it was funnier before the capeshit genre exploded
seems weird to think they introduced Orpheus, doctor strange was still a relatively obscure comic book character, at least to normies
No, VB was loved and talked about here before plebbit was even a thing and is emphatically in the spirit of Cinemaphile.
Don't mind me, just posting your bygone youth. Zoomzooms need not apply.
It's kino for a while and so I love it
We need to talk about THURWELL
Music for high IQ narcissistic psychopaths
>mfw i realize being alive is actually reddit and not Cinemaphile
Absolutely.
