King: Skull Island was such a a colossal pice of shit. If it didn't have Brie it would have been completely unwatchable. Peter Jackson should have made a Skull Island movie instead of the shitty Hobbit flicks.
>still worse than the original by a big margin
My only gripe with the original is that it wasn't as violent as the director wanted because people in the 30s were pussies afraid of a moving picture. There is a remake of the cut and lost scenes of the spider pit on YouTube.
Yes. Not as good as the original but you could tell Jackson was a big fan of it.
The worst version was the 1970s version because the least ambitious, and it lacks the personality of the other two.
Hate to tell you, Jackson copied this movie. Original, Fay Wray was horrified by Kong and was happy he got his ass shot off the Empire State Building. ‘70s one is where had weird beastality thing
>The worst version was the 1970s version because the least ambitious, and it lacks the personality of the other two.
All 3 versions are great, but the 70s version is the most soulful. It also has the hottest leading lady and one of the coolest posters ever.
Best part of ‘70s movie is Dino De Laurentiis telling media that Kong will be 50 foot robot. Nope. Was a dude in a monkey suit. Robot was used for one scene when he was in the cage
is the 70s one really that good?
like does its effects hold up in comparison to the original and 2005 version?
i'm not certain if i've ever even seen a clip of it.
That depends. Are you a Zoomer who grew up with CG slop and it eat up like a piggy, or do you appreciate the craftsmanship of traditional special effects?
If you like monstersuit effects it's very good. I'd say it looks better than the 2005 one but that's personal preference.
I love old kaiju movies, but I don't really hold them to a high standard.
I think when it comes to Kong though its pretty reasonable to judge them on the quality of their effects, given the original.
say what you will about cgi, 2005 looked really good for the time. its honestly weird to think about how computer graphics have if anything downgraded since then.
this film has some of the best atmosphere (not just skull island) in all of film history, and it looks beautiful, really top tier special effects and art direction.
the movie tie-in game translates this atmosphere in a surprisingly faithful way, and though the gameplay is pretty bog-standard, it still feels very unique. would definitely recommend both (skull island is trash and really speaks to how cinema has devolved in many ways when you compare the two contemporary kong films)
What’s funny is how they had to use a 40
robot ape to sell a Kong remake in the ‘70s. Nobody going to see a movie with a guy in a monkey suit, which it was. Why giant monster movies like Godzilla didn’t sell in the US. Stop motion was too expensive and time consuming. But that’s only way you’d get a theatrical release pre CGI
Jackson ripped a lot off from this movie even though he dismisses it. He copied Kong-girl relationship and also exact where had media members on top Kong’s dead body taking pictures
Skull Island is so fricking cool and mysterious in this. Not like the Brie Larson one that's literally just Vietnam.
King: Skull Island was such a a colossal pice of shit. If it didn't have Brie it would have been completely unwatchable. Peter Jackson should have made a Skull Island movie instead of the shitty Hobbit flicks.
kong: shit island's skull island felt way smaller than peter jackson's skull island.
>If it didn't have Brie it would have been completely unwatchable.
Are you moronic? She makes everything worse
Ugly, uncharismatic, rotten
You are seething because she is your anti-waifu. Nobody cares. She's by far the best character in that terrible schlock
NTA he only people who like Brie Larson are idiots, twink aggots, and trannies.
she was a robot in that movie shit actress
Eh. I'd put 70s Kong above this one. Original Kong still reigns supreme.
simp kong
Eh. Over long. Making Kong a generic over grown silverback gorilla
Naomi Watts is easily the best Ann Darrow. And yes it's the best Kong film after the original, but still worse than the original by a big margin

70s Kong has its own horny 70s personality. Jackson Kong is the one without its own identity.
Those creepy shots of Kong leering at Jessica Lang
imagine the smell
Kino. The 70s were a magical time.
>The worst version was the 1970s version because the least ambitious, and it lacks the personality of the other two.

contrarian piece of shit. You can't possibly believe this.
NTA but it's very soulful. Has some of the best suitmation monster action I've ever seen.
It is legitimately one of my favorite action/adventure flicks of the 70s. Comfy, great cast and has that unbeatable 70s NYC aesthetic.
It's too bad that the 40ft animatronic Kong didn't work right. It only gets a few seconds of screen time.
is the 70s one really that good?
like does its effects hold up in comparison to the original and 2005 version?
i'm not certain if i've ever even seen a clip of it.
its effects hold up the worst since it's just a guy in an ape suit
suitmation is better than CG
how is it that Planet of The Apes was never topped until the 90s? Did they just kill and bribe monkey suit makers to prevent competition or what
That depends. Are you a Zoomer who grew up with CG slop and it eat up like a piggy, or do you appreciate the craftsmanship of traditional special effects?

You should watch it then.
If you like monstersuit effects it's very good. I'd say it looks better than the 2005 one but that's personal preference.
The effects haven't aged well. It's not really ambitious like the other two and it doesn't have the iconism of the original.
>It's not really ambitious
If I'm not mistaken, Kong 76 had the third highest budget of a movie made in the 70s after Superman and Apocalypse Now.
This. The studio tour @ Universal Studios was great also.
The poster is sweet.
Probably my favorite poster ever. How could you *not* buy a ticket to see that?
The other posters were cool too.
I think it's the best one too, OP.
It's bloated and way too fricking long. The one from the 70s is better.
This Kong VW commercial car a better than anything since ‘33 movie. The girl in it is Fay Wray’s daughter
John C Reilly made that movie
?si=7hrDBHTV1DX3bdvn
NO! He was the worst part. He turned it into a shitty comedy.
everyone else except Samuel Jackson was a plank and he just played himself
TWO MAGAZINES ON BACKUP
>that scene where Andy Serkis's chink buddy dies in the pit and he goes out hacking at the worms to avenge him ;(

comparing 05 king kong with the newer one really shows how shitty new filmmakers are at creating worlds.
Yeah, but does it have a handmade 40 foot tall animatronic ape? I think not.
What’s funny is how they had to use a 40

Such a kino shot. Using the WTC for the climax was genius.
Jackson ripped a lot off from this movie even though he dismisses it. He copied Kong-girl relationship and also exact where had media members on top Kong’s dead body taking pictures
