Not just that, as far as the world knew, major cities across the world got blown up by Manhattan, that's the equivalent of some frustrated butthole in the US flipping the switch on a couple of nukes to hit major sites across the world, including US cities. The rest of the world wouldn't have been laughing at the US, they'd have been majorly fricking pissed that the US couldn't keep their superweapon, the one they paraded as their major advantage against the Soviet Union, on a leash. Everything would have gotten much worse in that case, because in the book, at least the 'alien' only fricked up one city and wasn't connected to an existing nation to lay blame against.
Whats even more genius in Veidt's plan in the comics, its that he pupousfully made the population fear Aliens, by profiting on the general Cold War paranoia and making Alien invasion movies on theater.
He also went in great legths to explain that the squid was just a squid and his psychic attack was like a bee sting out of relfex. Implying to the public that if an animal can do this, what an organized Alien group can do ?
Unironically this. If the comic and films had swapped endings, then people would criticise the film for playing into campy comic cliches too hard. There would be endless Cinemaphile threads with a picture of the CGI squid, paired with WHAT WAS HE THINKING!?

You didn't understand what happened in Watchmen.
Read it again, and don't skip the prose at the end of each issue next time
No. The movie is fine; visually impressive, perfect actors for the roles, and is an alright adaptation. The cult of Anti-Snyder just never shuts the frick up, though.
>slow motion during fights >makes Nite Owl into a badass >the literal who actress that plays Silk Spectre is bad >Veidt is in le badguy costume from the start >changed the ending, missing the point of that part of the commentary the comic book has on Silver Age aesthetics being juxtaposed with Modern Age sensibilities >HALLELUJAH >calls them "The Watchmen" in the movie, when that's fricking moronic and misses the point
Bob Dylan opening, Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan, and The Comedian are good.
Nope. Only the opening and the birth of Doctor Manhattan are done well.

I like the work of Alan Moore but that's giving way, way too much credit to the fake alien squid. The Watchmen series was so good because it assembled an original and compelling story out of the deconstructed pieces of capeshit. It would have been weaker if Moore leaned in more heavily on satirizing genre cliches at the time. Seriously, imagine if a twirling Rorschach test was used as a transition between scenes, or if some cliche subplot about Nite Owl having murdered parents got put in.
Also, Watchmen isn't THAT deep. I don't think even Zach Snyder is capable of "missing the point". It's a meaningful comic with a lot of themes worth analyzing, but it's not esoteric. If you want impossible to comprehend nonsense, go watch Eraserhead
It's only bad in the context that it totally misses the point of one of the best comics ever and reduces it to a capeshit blockbuster.
Without that contexxt, it's a pretty well done if not particularly exciting movie.
They made a B- movie with A+ source material. The book does everything better, even though the casting for Rorschach, Manhattan, and Comedian was good.
It did eliminate the Hamlet like story within the story but the fricker was over 3 hours and still cut a bunch of shit from the comics so idk. If it were made today, it would be a 10-12 episode HBO series
>300
Great! >Watchmen
Really good! >Man of Steel
Ehh, not that good. Okay. >Batman V Superman
Unwatchable dreck. I couldn’t make a worse movie if I was specifically commanded to make a worse movie. Legitimate contender for worst movie ever made
I’ve never seen someone fall off that hard, his career literally looks like this graph. Ps I still haven’t seen the Snyder cut and I never will because of Batman V Superman
The same site I've been on for the past 15 years. There's a difference between 2D shit, and actual children like you Cinemaphile pedophiles jerk it to.
Now, whenever someone says Snyder is all style no substance I disagree with it.
Suckerpunch is an exception. God, the movie looks down right fantastic in places but it has no actual good meat to chew on.
I like the comparison some anon made a few years ago to MCR's cover of Desolation Row.
Yeah, it's not as good as the original and a 3rd of the lyrics are missing, but shit still slaps.
No it's good
What about the bad acting?
>loaded question
The prostitute that plays Silk Spectre is terrible, but who cares? She's just there for breasts. Everyone else is decent.
They're pretty much all bad.
>The prostitute that plays Silk Spectre is terrible
>DAN!
No one would feel bad for the us if Manhattan attacked them they'd be gloating about it forever

No, people here just hate that the ending they made works better on film than the comic one.
Simple as.

It fundamentally fricks up the premise because Comedian's freak out happens because he sees the Squid.
It was probably as good of a Watchmen movie adaptation as anyone could ever make. Take that as you will.
Still the best Superhero movie Zack Snyder ever made. Take that for what it's worth.
300 is still his best CB movie

It is THAT deep, which still isn't all that deep in reality.

NO! and im so sorry to act like an butthole with it when i was younger... it's a good movie
Is great if you haven't read the comic
THEY MADE WATCHMEN WITHOUT THE SLIMY SQUID!
It did eliminate the Hamlet like story within the story but the fricker was over 3 hours and still cut a bunch of shit from the comics so idk. If it were made today, it would be a 10-12 episode HBO series

I direct to this master work titled "The Metaphysics of Batman v Superman: A 15,000 Word Analysis".

I'm not reading this moronic shit on a board for literal pedophiles.

Damn... Cinemaphile shitposting has gotten advanced.

well watchmen was definitely better than 300
