I keep hearing it everywhere on the internet that despite the more basic premise, it has much better writing than the "Original" variation.
I don't really see it. Can anybody here convince me why?

Dinobot quotes Shakespeare so it's deep.
I don't know if it's better than the original Transformers but Beast Wars does have very solid writing. I think the biggest hurdle in recommending it now-a-days is the very dated graphics. It's one of the more earlier CGI shows, so a lot of people might not be able to enjoy it if they hate ps1 era graphics. But if you can, it's a pretty great show. Beast Wars definitely needs a graphic remaster to be made one day.
>I don't know if it's better than the original
I'd argue that Beast Wars made G1 seem better than it really was.
>I think the biggest hurdle in recommending it now-a-days is the very dated graphics
Would you say it's aged better or worse than Energon?
>Would you say it's aged better or worse than Energon?
Far better
The models in Beast Wars can emote
i thought megatron's dragon upgrade sucked

Less characters in the roster.
Unlike the original show from which it spun-off, Beast Wars had more character development and character arcs because it had less characters on both sides. This resulted in the characters growing and changing more.
its fun.
>that despite the more basic premise
I mean, neither are exactly deep, but whoever told you that Beast Wars' premise was more basic than G1 was lying out their ass.
You sound like a stupid zoomer. I don't think you should watch it.
Yes, it's a very good cartoon
Being fully 3D meant they were limited by the resources of 3D computing hardware in the 90s with the budget of kids syndicated television, and unlike ReBoot they needed to make a minimum of 3 separate models for each character. This meant rosters were much smaller, which meant stories were much more character-focused.
It absolutely goes to shit in its third season and all of the problems in Beast Machines can be traced back to that, but the first two seasons are solid.
I heard Garry Chalk was pissed at how they ruined his boy Optimus Primal. Refusing to read lines during recording sessions.
I don't think he refused he just didn't have as much fun with the material.
>Refusing to read lines
It wasn't that bad, Chalk is one of those guys who's everywhere so he's done stupider jobs, he just didn't like it compared to Beast Wars.
>despite the more basic premise
I'd say it has a more coherent premise.
Did you watch the whole thing?
i liked it.
I only watched it a bit as a kid, rewatched the entire thing later.
Is it super deep ? no. does it look like absolute arse? yes.
Is it a lot o ffun and has likeable characters? also yes.
Im not big into transformers so i cant realy say how it compares to the other shows. I can just say that i liked it a lot.
to add to that, i know a lot of the hype around that show comes from the one Episode with Dinobot, but the thing is, that episode with dinobot is actually very good so its warranted.
The rest isnt shit as a result.
One criticism from my kid perspective:
The animal forms are kinda irrelevant. I had the toys as the kid and they ofthen were cool animals or cool mishmash monsters, but in the show they really dont do a lot with that premise of them transforming into animals.
To be fair the animal forms being irrelevant is at least a general consistent with alt forms in other Transformers media. They're at least aware enough of it when they abandon the narrative reason for alt forms in S2
it was more like after the planet buster blew up and the Energon radiation and all that shit stablized too much of the energon that was holding them back.
I really love how clever and woven that whole Vok Planet Buster was, with it gone, the 2 moons are now just the one which is what brings the golden disc subplot back to the forefront and thus Dinobot's arc really begins here. its brilliant and all that happened by accident cause at the begining Bob Forward has admitted he didnt know if they were really on earth or not but knew if they were gonna make it earth he'll blow up one of the moons. for a show written on the seat of their own pants its really damn amazing.
>does it look like absolute arse? yes.
No.
whatever.
I gotta say the emoting is good. They do sell the characters as characters.
but it sure as hell doesnt look great.
Beast Wars is objectively better than G1. G1's pretty shit. Fans like it for nostalgia reasons.
Comparing it to G1 is kind of moronic without G1 it wouldn't even exist.
and? no one should be kinder on a precurson just because it was first.
G1's flaws were still evident when it was new or only a few years old.
The writing is good, but the graphics have aged very poorly.
It pioneered the graphics
Depends on where you stand really...
Watch it if you want, or don't... It's up to you.
