Sister used to watch this when we were kids. Ginger's little brother and his friend were the highlight, but it just felt like a show about how shitty friends are when you're a girl.

Like god damn, are girls actually that shitty to eachother irl? or was it just exaggerated for a cartoon

This is true, the show revolves a lot around the drama that girls cause themselves. I'm a boy so most of that shit is foreign, but it handles it in engaging fashion. Watch the show with the idea that Courtney has a crush on Ginger but is just a confused kid and the show is much more interesting (not just my creep headcannon, the creator apparently floated the idea and was shot down by the execs...they'd be all over it today)

I'm glad it got shot down. Courtney being envious of Ginger's loving family is more interesting.

Women have more of a "battered housewife" mentality in general, so will stay in shitty situations and just seethe and compete. Women bully eachother through exclusion, since Women are not typically designed for actual self-improvement in the traditional sense, their means of competition is to simply manipulate their environment to remove competitive elements. The "stand next to the ugly friend" mentality is their way of life.
This is not always the case, Intelligent women will form support networks and lasting bonds with other pragmatic women. However, even they will rarely spend sustain bonds people who don't 100% subscribe to their own ideology.

Stupid men, specifically the third world or lowest class male groups, also form friend groups but will despise eachother. They compete through "self-improvement" though it's usually superficial displays of status that poor people find impressive like israeliteellery and cars.
Generally though, men will not bother to waste their time hanging around with people who can't offer companionship and are less afraid of choosing solitude over shitty friends.

      Fillmore!
Its not a kids show at all, its defiantly for adults, all the references and the tone, its not a kids show, it just doesn't have violence or swearing, so its a "kids show"

I always think about watching this since I only saw a bit as a child but hearing about how Courtney gets shafted just leaves a sour taste and I can't be bothered once I remember that.

    Absolutely
It is a very mature show despite its odd appearance and frequent ridiculous B-plot stories
Its an entertaining show that is suitable for all ages, kids and adults and I found the the experience to be well paced. I don't care for most live action TV so I don't have a reference point for a teen/comedy/drama but I'd say its good.
Don't listen to anyone who just says it is LE UGLY ARTSTYLE they didn't watch it. I've watched it a couple times, its not the greatest show ever, but it makes me nostalgic for being a kid before cellphones. Its fun, its easy to watch, whats not to like?
