Anon, you did not watch the show if you think that's case, considering they do different types of humor and story arcs not just meta humor stop undermining the show.
Other than some of the meta jokes or "nahhh, X looks more like a Y doing a Z" banter that characters often have which can actually be funny sometimes, one liners like the ones from Richard and some of the scenes with comedic relief side characters like Banana Joe and his family can be really funny. Really good show.
