Go for it. It doesn't matter that much. You already know everything you need to know about Batman for any story.

Probably one of the best to start with. Just be ready for a lot of Tim Drake and Jean Paul Valley stuff

no it's more Bane out Batman's Batman with a genius masterplan. What sucks is ever since then though Bane has basically been relegated to dumb thug territory when the reality is he fricking outsmarted Batman

It goes downhill after Bruce's spine is shattered aside from the section of Bruce reclaiming the mantle.

What really sucks is that Bane is just "I'll le break your le spine." in everything afterwards because writers can't do anything other than suck off this one story. Bane is the supervillain equivalent of an old man that keeps telling everyone he could've been a pro football player.

          Agree completed.
          >prelude is great
          >stays great up to the breaking
          >Azbats gets boring pretty fast and lasts too long, with an underwhelming resolution to Bane’s side of things
          >Bruce’s wheelchair adventures and Dr. Kinsolvings mentally moronic mutant battles are some of the worst comics I’ve ever read
          >Bruce v Azbats finale is excellent
          >Prodigals pretty cool

Bane had a pretty decent arc from the 90's until infinite crisis where he was regressed to backbreaker again. Gail Simone did some ok work after though.

bane would be a lot better if they wrote him as a mob boss along the lines of black mask or falcone. with the ace up his sleeve that he can hulk the frick out. but he shouldn't do that often, he shouldn't need to, he's already a big guy.

How would you make Bane better Cinemaphile?

He's always kind of reminded me a lot of Venom, someone who has nearly all the same powers as the good guy but who is arguably stronger and definitely bigger. Bane also shares Batman's high intelligence, so there's that too.

          Like any other villain

He's exceptionally cunning and physically superior but prone to blind rage and hampered by his addiction

so you'd make him like literally every other fictional antagonist? *yawn*

The editorial consistency will give you unrealistic expectations of quality that will never be matched again. Also you might grow to like Tim Drake and he turns to dogshit once you get past the 90s.

you're kinda missing a lot of gravy to understand the turkey that is Batman losing and finding his way again, which is Knightfall.
I'd start with the usual Year One/Dark Knight Returns/Long Halloween but throw in some Legends of the Dark Knight stuff, Shaman, Gothic, Prey, etc. That's your modern pulp Batman, but there's really much more to the character than the dark shit

Stop recommending a fricking reading list for people when they want to read something else. FFS.

It's better than most "events", but it's not like "one of the best stories ever" or anything.

I'd say it's worth reading if you think Bane looks cool and you think that the premise sounds interesting.

It's great. First batman comic I read. Really good art, cool story. Only bat-god gays don't like it.

    No Mans Land is better

Batman is out of the picture too much during the center of No Man's land. Also the fact that Gordon never once considers that Batman may not be able to be there for valid reasons when he's out of the picture really didn't work for me.

It's good enough to be worth reading, but I'd recommend reading some stuff first that depending on how you read it or what list you are looking at, might not be included. Specifically, Sword of Azrael and the issues included in prelude to knightfall. Batman: venom is also worth reading and is related but has no effect on the story that I remember.

It’s cool and Bane is my favorite Batman villain. I assume at SOME point you’ve either seen a cartoon or anything with Batman. You good to go.
