A lot of the sonichu chapters are incomprehensible without the knowledge of what was happening in Chris's life when he drew them, while lightbringer at least is coherent enough on its own, the fact it was made by Louis is just the cherry on top.
Yes, but what made Sonichu so appealing prior to Cinemaphile involvement in trolling Chris was how unhinged the diary segments were. No ofher webcomic interrupts the plot to tell you a tale of the time the creator got tackled in a target for loitering and soliciting women to be their “sweetheart.”
The levels of insanity and total lack of irony or sarcasm is an X-factor that Lightbringer doesn’t have. Linkara wanted to write a serious super hero comic with a serious and edgy plot, and because of that it fails in a very unsatisfying way. I always get the feeling that Lewis was legitimately happy with CA in its form as a reviewer coalition since he had the most crossovers and kept bringing up the crossover movies in his own work going so far as to make another crossover after everyone had left the site..
I think from his perspective CA was a community and he honestly thought in that way socially maladjusted people do that these people were his friends. Hell he was I think the last one of the CA crew to give up completely on Spoony.

The issue is the 00's aren't hated enough, not that 90's are overhated. People still talk about Civil War like it's a classic when it was arguably even more moronic than Civil War II in many ways. Lightbringer the comic is, much like the man himself, completely and thoroughly mediocre as a comic. It's not Sonichu levels of bad, it's closer to "average teenager posting their first ever comic on smackjeeves" except this was done by a self-righteous teenager. The main reasons people keep bringing up its existence is because;
a) it commits so many of the cardinal sins of comic book writing that Lewis Lovehaug would throw so many visible tantrums about years later in his videos, like the main character being the writer's obvious self-insert, overwrought narration, edgelord villains, a fixation on rape and sex slavery for drama, and so-on. Hell, the self-insert thing is so bad that he does it fricking twice, with The Lightbringer meeting fricking...Louis, aka Linkara, the great Linkara!
b) It was one of the comics involved in a crossover event collab project between a bunch of webcomic artists who are almost all pretty much forgotten by now, but it was a novelty at the time to see that many artists coordinating on it, which sadly makes this mediocre pile technically a piece of comic book history and nostalgia for someone out there.
c) Cause Linkara is frankly embarrassed that people keep bringing up its existence due to the application of "THE LIGHTBRINGER" by fans and critics alike as an cheesy appellation more reflective of Louis's egotism and overdramatic pompous behavior, and instead of just laughing it off or playing into the gag repeatedly throws tantrums about it, making people bring it up again and again because it's guaranteed to get his goat in some manner.
So honestly, no, it's not worth reading for the cringe factor alone. It's worth reading if you want to understand just why people keep bagging on this one dweeb in a fedora though. It's kind of in the same category of Linkara's self-insert isekai fanfiction, it's funny cause of who it's about less than it is for being outright terrible.
