It's been so long now that Megatron and the Decepticons have been weird slapstick "Mwuahaha I'm EEEEEVIL!" bad guys that I bet nobody, not even the writers, remember that they were the ones who felt like shit was unfair on cybertron and that other species of transformer shouldn't be treated as tools and slaves, sparking a civil fricking war for freedom against the Autobots who didn't want the system to change because they feared losing power.

Is that the latest run? How is it? I liked the first few chapters I read.

IDW is not the core founding principles of Transformers

Depends on the continuity. But Megatron being a violent lunatic is one of my favorite things in some stories.

      >average idw reader thinks Decepticons are dindus in every continuity ever
I'm sure Megatron committing millions of years worth of genocide on multiple planets is all a misunderstanding somehow, bud.

What the frick are you talking about? The Autobots aren't the ones in power in any continuity where Decepticons start out as freedom fighters. IDW Optimus founded the Autobots to fight the corruption, inspired by Megatron's writings.

Decepticonism has always been a religion of peace. The Great War is an Autobot slur name for a millions of years long mostly peaceful protest.

          Peace through tyranny.

Not exactly a good thing for us humans.

But you see the Megatronian and Decepticonian definition of tyranny is freedom, equality, and self-identification for all. Autobot propaganda obscured the truth to justify their oppression of the Decepticons as part of their racist and evil regime.

If anything modern versions overemphasize the Decepticons did nothing wrong shit. We haven't had a truly evil Megatron since maybe Animated

And then years later IDW would reveal Megatron was just bluffing with this whole speech, but it was also the moment he realized he had actually become a monster that scared himself.

    What a crock.

IDW should've just renamed him Megafraud after all the shit they had to retcon and bend over backwards to try and justify him being "le sad old man"

They should make Megatron a slave from planet Char, who was brought to Cybertron and ended up gaining traction with the disillusioned masses. It would mirror real life with how dictators are never native to the countries they take over, amd how they're willing to slaughter their subjects because they feel no attachement to them.

Who is the better mentor for Megatron?
    Termagax or the Fallen?
