I remember not going to prom and I heard my mom in the bedroom crying because she raised such a loser. I thought about sparing everyone the embarrassment and killing myself but I promised I would turn my life around and make her proud.

10 years later and I'm an even bigger loser.

I remember I asked my crush out for prom and she said she wasn't going. I didn't feel too bad. Literally that night I saw facebook pictures she posted of some guy who bullied me. I spent the whole night tossing and turning thinking about how he was fricking her and I'm literally on the verge of tears.

Damn bro that's pretty sad and pathetic but it's not too late to turn things around.i remember my worst memory was in 8th grade everyone in my class hated me and my mom called up all their parents and basically bribed them into coming to a surprise party for me. I found out about 15 minutes in and my mom admitted it later, through tears. Just like yours did. I was a frick up for a long time, too. Crawling out of the hole you've dug for yourself is the tough part. I'm "functional" now with a good job and even had sex with a woman I met on tinder so hey things ain't so bad pal

Women are weird like that. They don't see or care for most men and inadvertently end up creating incels. At the same time they have this weird love of their sons that goes beyond their love for anything else. Yet they can't seem to get that how they view other men is how most women see their own male offspring.

Never went to prom or dated. Basically I didn't even really think about sex until I was like 26 and then panicked that I was a giant loser. I tried tinder and got even more depressed because no one dated me. I eventually met a girl who did like me and lost my virginity to her at 27. Eventually she broke up with me because she wanted to frick other guys. Haven't dated since but I'm also back to not caring.

Women infantilize their sons and want them to be little gentlemen, never really growing up.

probably due to 2 reasons, in my khv opinion
              1. the difference between self reported desires and actual desires as classically seen in
              >personality matters more than looks of course
              >what do you mean perceived personality correlates almost perfectly with looks on my assessments?
              2. most men encountered who are aggressive are in fact unpleasant, and it would be preferable if they weren't aggressive since it just makes them annoying. (further, non aggressive men are not in my personal sample since they by their nature select themselves out, so thus they are never unpleasant) (we will ignore that the biggest winners are both attractive and aggressive) . Ergo its best for most men if they aren't aggressive, thus you should not be aggressive

                Anonymous

I will be aggressive every time there is something to win though. I really don’t care if I’m unpleasant in the periods where I’m competing for a woman or a promotion or some neighbour is being a dickhead. I really couldn’t care less about being liked by some normie frick. So I was unpleasant? That’s what a winner looks like

50 Shades of Gray sold like 100 million copies. From high school and every job I worked its obvious the obnoxious and loud guys who are basically flirting with every girl (even when they guy has a GF) are the ones who get the most sex. It doesn't matter if they annoy half the girls in class, the other half find them endearing. The silent passive guys just get ignored. Girls don't approach unless the guy is super hot and most guys aren't.

I didn't go to prom either, but it could be way, way worse. There was this guy I've known since kindergarten who nobody liked and was bullied relentlessly as long as I can remember. One of those guys you feel bad for until he opens his mouth, then all of the bullying made a lot of sense. Literally stalked girls and thought he was hot shit and smarter than everyone kind of thing, despite being a delusional moron.

He went to prom by himself. According to friends who where there, he took prom pics by himself(which ended up in the yearbook), sat in a corner staring at a girl he would stalk all the time and was one of the last people to leave because his mom was late picking him up. As bad as you think you had it, at least you're not that guy.

I am realizing now this is basically me and the only reason I ever had friends in middle school and high school was because they were very small schools so seeing the same small handful of people over and over sort of forces you to become friends with your classmates. Once I got into a huge college I made 0 friends and by the 4th year I had grown so far apart with my old friends.

How are you a loser? Where's the actual problem?

Listen, prom can't possibly be that huge coming-of-age event that people make it out to be because there is no ritual in place for asking a girl out in the first place. You can't expect someone to act out of his own initiative on behalf of a challenge which only ever has been implicitly stated.
If your mom cried about your grades or you not getting into a good college I'd understand that.
When you think about it with what her parental duties are in mind her reaction becomes downright inane. I don't think you're expected to marry your prom date, right? So its not about continuing the blood line. There are no financial or socioecinomic implications for your family. Your mom is a childish hag mentally stuck in her teen years. She's the real embarassment.

Prom is as big a deal as you make it. The idea that everyone loses their virginity on prom night is way blown out of proportion. Most people getting laid on prom night are people who have had a year+ of consistent sex by that point.

No. Just go with one or two friends.
If you don’t even have one or two friends, ask a few people you know that don’t hate you.
It’s a common strategy. I went with a few girls and had a really fun time.
I actually went to three different proms my senior year. There were several big schools in my area. I got invited to them.
As long as you have chill or laidback vibes about it, people will ask you if you want to go.
Don’t make a big deal about it. If you don’t get asked, tag along with people you know.

These kind of things are both not a big deal in the larger picture of life, but something that, for most people, is significant in some formative sense and sticks with you in a way, like a lot of these other things around your teen years. Like, none of them are anywhere near the big deal you and everyone around you is making them out to be at that time in a very practical sense; you have an inflated sense of the significance of your stupid high school life and feel more important than you are because you don't have any real world perspective. BUT, a lot of these events, things like prom or if you got laid in high school or if you had friends or were considered a loser, or whatever, I think definitely stick with you in another way. Like I both don't give a shit at all about what happened in high school now in my 30's, but also know that a lot of what happened in those years definitely developed me into who I am and what my particular ticks, insecurities, aversions, and things I am or am not confident in about myself are. I am a much different person than I was then, too, but those years definitely played a big part in molding us, even while at the same time all that stuff wasn't as important as we thought it was at the time, if that makes sense.

      Anonymous

I thought you were going in a different direction, and saying that they don't seem like that big a deal but then you end up remembering them forever. Most of life is just monotony and repetition so these ceremonies even if they don't seem important at the time stand out and are remembered.

Once we got there, she immediately left me to go hang out with her friends. I said hi to my friends, then stepped outside for a cigarette. The gym teacher was on door duty and he wouldn't let me back in, so I just went home. 2/10 experience.

    only girls care about prom.
    >high school is four years
    >there's a homecoming dance every September/October
    >there's a spring dance every March/April
    >by the time you get to prom every girl at school has already been to eight school dances that are all exactly like prom

      Anonymous

      This is the correct answer.
      I forgot about that.
This must be why I totally didn’t think it was a big deal. I had already gone to quite a few dances. Even the ones that are restricted to only Juniors and Seniors are pretty easy to get into when you’re younger if you ask around in a chill way.

I asked the girl with the biggest breasts i knew and ended up too drunk to stand, let alone frick her. Still had a summer fling with her before heading to college.

Prom was miserable, I had a better time at homecoming as a rule. Sadie hawkins was a nightmare though, I got pressured into going with a girl I really didn't like by our mutual friends and was counting the seconds the whole time

well this is a stupid question because there's movies that run the gamut of opinions on prom, you've got the slacker movies where prom is a joke and then you've got the middle of the road comedies and then you've got the sappy chick flicks

It's a pretty big deal. Rent a suit, go somewhere fancy, go to an after party, maybe get drunk, maybe lose your virginity.

There were like 3-4 couples in my senior year at high school. Dating wasn't really a thing. I didn't go to prom. Not sure if my high school was just weird or if what is portrayed as the typical high school experience in media isn't real.

High school dating has declined a lot in America. From what I understand getting summer jobs and driving licenses has as well.

Probably not as big a deal as it used to be but back in the 90’s/00’s it was a bigger deal. Like even losers could find somebody to go with because there were girls that got desperate at the end. Like I was a kid less virgin until I was like 22 and I had 2 prom dates.

Has it ever struck anyone as kind of weird that high school administrators put all this energy toward an event the primary purpose of which is for teenagers to have (often unprotected) sex?

      Anonymous

The purpose of prom is not sex. At least from the school’s perspective. Schools have tons of dances and event nights. It’s just the biggest one of the year. I swear you regards get 0 pussy because you all associate everything with sex.

        Anonymous

Maybe not from the schools' perspective, but sex is absolutely the #1 purpose of prom from students' perspective. I went to junior and senior prom, they were both in a hotel and kids were sneaking up to rooms to frick

          Anonymous

Wasn’t that your whole premise? It’s weird that the school puts so much emphasis on a sex dance?

      Anonymous

      No.
Prom is more of a pre-graduation party. It’s supposed to be the final formal gathering of a majority of the students.
But they kind of ruin the exclusivity by having Homecoming, allowing sophomores to go to homecoming, having junior prom, and having other spring formals throughout high school.
By the time senior year prom rolls around, I remember quite a few people being over it. In fact, a majority of my friends had already shelled out a bunch of money their junior year to go to prom so by senior year rolled around, they didn’t go.
If your school was small enough, they had a combined prom that allowed juniors to go so it was just one big prom for both years. You could potentially get to experience prom twice.

School literally dictates anything. When a student gets up, what he eats, which job he's gonna work someday, how much money he earns, who his friends are etc.
So considering that, no, I don't think its weird at all, its weird they don't organize dating and marriage as well

Look at the last decade, there's no winners and losers, everyone only gets a participation medal and an equal pat on the back. NWO is grooming us into the mindset "no matter what you, you won't win". Wins forces the winners to keep winnning so they can get endorphin flow, loses forces loosers to get better and work hard and we can't have that kind of mindset now, can we ?

My older friends just partied at my place and we had a huge party instead of prom.

    My experience relating to prom
    >everyone is taking about prom
    >I'm just chilling in class
    >hehe hehe anon are you going to prom
    >room gets quiet
    >no my girlfriend is 21 so there's no point since she can't get in
    >teacher literally stops writing on the board
    >teacher: who knew anon was a stud?
    >goes back to writing on the board
    >day of prom, throw a big bonfire party with all my friends

I'm not sure why everyone assumed I was some virgin loser, I lost it at 14 and the deans constantly kicked my girlfriends off the grounds for smoking while they were waiting for me to get out of school

My class reunion is going to be weird because I transitioned.

I hate how we in Yurop (DACH to be precise) are importing this Amerishart tradition. Before the 00s promotion wasn't really celebrated at all, in the 00s and 10s (due to Ami influence) it started becoming a party, but now it apparently in many places is full on a ball and shit. I hate this because girls in the 10s wore cuter dresses that are only like knee-length and less baroque.

No one taught me shit about women, not dad/brother/friends. I had to learn it from scratch at like 20 from fricking forums and Cinemaphile and shit.

In terms of social development with women I was 10 years-old until 22.

If I ever have a son I'll write him a 2 page pamphlet about social skills/charisma/chicks with zero bullshit and hand it to him when he's 12 years-old. No one should have to go through this shit.
