lets hope the budget wasnt very high
Who was the audience for this?
Boomers who larp as badasses with their fixer up custom job red convertibles that will eventually end up failing on them in a desert in the middle of nowhere leaving them to die of thrist and starvation while the vultures pick at their bones (this legitimately happened to my dumbass boomer neighbor and we didn't find out he croaked until several weeks later. Good riddance. I hate boomers (:
every generation is insufferable. I find it cringe to shit on boomers when X, millennials and especially generation z are equally bad. I don't discount hate for boomers but let's be honest; everyone and everything is fricked. welcome to the shitshow
East euro boomers.
I wish I could blame his daughters being spoiled for him needing to make so much dogshit, but he'd been making needless horseshit for the check 20 years before the first one was born. For every good movie the man has, there's 5 stinkers. Often in the same franchise.
>I wish I could blame his daughters being spoiled for him needing to make so much dogshit
How much money does he need. I'm sure his sexy daughters have jobs, so why would he need to work into old age for them.
I didnt knew this existed.
I knew it existed, but had no idea it was out.
Yes, it's over for 77 year old action stars.
The series needed an arc and clear clousure
Didn't had one
People get bored of "look at this cool old actor in the movie"
most of the audience for these movies were killed by COVID
I'd say it's been over. I remember that falcon guy talked about how people don't care about actors anymore but the characters. Funny because I can't recall the dude's name at the moment but I know he plays the Falcon, which just proves his point that the age of the movie star is long dead.
>the age of the movie star is long dead.
You're saying that on a board that will watch anything with Ryan Gosling in it.
The goose is overrated honestly
You're thinking of Anthony Mackie.
Unironically a decent actor but he gets cast in absolute trash.
>why did a 4th installment about over the hill 80s stars no one asked for fail?
Holy frick OP you may be legitimately moronic
Mission Impossible failed too autist
...Proving his point?
No because the previous movies made a lot of money. People are done with it.
3 kinda flopped. 2 made the most, and for good reason since it was the one that leaned harder into its novelty than even 1 did.
If these movies were flops they wouldn't make 8 of them anon.
those guys are younger than the president who is running for reelection
ah yes
the great beloved action stars
Megan Fox
and
Fifty Cent
what the actual frick?
why not put cardi b and doja cat in it at this point? why not Kanye?
Stallone is a moron. he got way too lucky with roles when he was young.
>why not put cardi b and doja cat in it at this point? why not Kanye?
These would be bigger box office draws than cent and fox kek
Idk if he had that much choice in who to cast. What was the casting budget? How many big-name action stars were lining up to be in Expendables 4?
also these movies are made for nostalgia. The target audience is people who will go "Hey I remember 50 Cent!" and are too old to know who Cardi B is.
>Lucky
He wrote his two biggest franchises though. He made his own career.
50 is aight, Blood on the Sand is hands down the greatest action movie on the PS3.
>Fifty Cent
Aw this man never saw Soul Plane II
>he got way too lucky with roles when he was young.
stop being anti semitic
>Sly appears in the trailer of some washed-out has-been
>you work for me now, here are some minty 100 benjamins for your trouble kid
>it is the most generous offer they got in the last ten years
It shouldnt have been made. The whole appeal was seeing old 80's action stars, but in this one there only Stallone and Lundegren who barely have any screen time.
Most of the movie is about a bunch of modern D-list wrestlers and rappers no one's heard of.
Jason Statham has more creative control in this one so he wanted to tell an actual story
I dont know why they fumbled the first one. The entirety of that movie is the actors playing weird caricatures of themselves instead of actually being characters. Stallone is a fricking idiot that went for novelty instead of establishing something decent from the get go
I just saw this movie it was kino. God damn yall are as moronic as the shill media
US is in the middle of a shit labor market with companies conducting mass layoffs and Bidens Fed keeps raising interest rates so the israelites at Goldman don't have to pay for the economic crash they created. Why the frick would I be willing to pay for a movie right now when it's time to accrue savings in preparation for a hard landing for anyone who isn't a union leech or a billionaire banking? I'm downloading everything and watching it at home.
its not the movie
people cant afford going to the movies right now and nothing is worth seeing in theaters
>people cant afford going to the movies right now
the economy is booming though
stop believing the MSM anon
we've been in a recession with out of control inflation since 2021
don't you remember when they tried telling people there was no inflation for months and then admitted it to say its a good thing?
It's funny comparing American prices with anything Japanese
It must be bliss to be this moronic. Go move to San Francisco too, the MSM says everything is great there and there's no cause for concern.
>In Israel
Hollywood has done everything possible to turn off the audience for this
They get what they deserve
Haven't all of them except for the first one been bait and switches where all the advertising tries to make you think it features tons of screen time for [your favorite action star from 40 years ago] but then in actuality they're in the movie for like 12 minutes and the rest of the time it's a bunch of absolute nobodies?
RLM killed geezer teasers while this was in production with their Bruce Willis exposé.
Expendables was a novelty. It peaked at 2 with Chuck Norris. It never should have went past that. If you must though put Steven Segal in one of these and let him have 100% creative control of his character and film his scenes like those terrible Russian movies he is in
They work for me now
Those films are shit and I'm tired of pretending they're not.
sly is looking like brendan schaub these days. why doesn't he just retire and take it easy.
was it even advertised? i didnt even know it was in production let alone released and bombing.
are they even allowed to do press for it?
They really should have gotten Jackie Chan and Liam Neeson.
The first movie was pretty good. The second was what I feared the first one might be and was nothing more than passable. The third was awful and they'd have had to do something special to pull me back in. They cast Megan Fox and some people I've never heard of.
For context the 3rd movie had a screener leak the same time it was released and still made more than this one
Ah yes, all my favourite classic action stars like:
>Megan Fox
>50 Cent
>Tony Jaa?
>Iko Uwais?
>Levy Tran?
>Jacob Scipio?
I can't understand why this movie in a series which bases its draw around having classic movie stars flopped when it starred all these big names we all want to see.
>Tony Jaa?
>Iko Uwais?
You should know these.
>hire the raid guys
>don't give them any cool hand to hand combat scenes
>don't even let them fight each other
At least the Mad Dog actor got to do cool shit in John Wick.
I love how the Raid 2 brought him back as a completely different character and just let it be with no explanation even though he died in the first.
Asians all look the same even to other asians
>>Iko Uwais?
The dude is probably the best marital artist in the business right now and your ignorance doesn't change that
What does that have to do with "classic action stars"?
Probably because he can capture and understand the spirit of cheesy action movies vs a bunch of washed up 00s celebrities who've never been in an action movie.
>>Tony Jaa
Hes the best one on the list, modern Jackie Chan. Shame his career never took off.
He would probably work better in John Wick (which also tends to have a lot of cameos) than Expendables, since the whole point of The Expendables was big action stars from the bygone era.
Damn, we coulda had so much kino.
This feels like the rock is begging and getting told no (rightfully)
>movie about a bunch of racist boomer chuds playing army man
nah pass bruh
Yes
>censor the movie before this to reach a bigger audience
>it doesn't work and pisses off fans like me
>advertising is "this one is DEFINITELY rated R!!!!!"
You already lost me for making such a stupid move in the first place. I refuse to support you ever again. I don't support spineless losers who chase trends or censor themselves for money.
No, since megan fox and 50 cent arenn't action stars. Instead of casting actual legendary action stars like the previous expendables movies they casted D list celebrities.
I don't know if it applies in general around the world, but in my country older men are getting way more into korean shit lately, the reason I say this is that usually the target audience for these kind of movies are older people but these older people are moving on to new stuff, in this case that being korean shit.
Iko Uwais is there, it is the only interesting thing from the movie to me, Andrew Koji and him are the only Chinks that I like, Dolph Lundgren looks like shit.
never understood the Expendables.
It's Lucas tier X-Men Origins workprint cgi nonsense paired with the worst of 80s screenwriting sensibilities and a bleak, Red digital camera washing these hasbeens out
That's the appeal. Unless you grew up watching the 80s action movies when they were at their peak popularity, the movies won't do much for you.
see the appeal of First Blood or Predator to me had nothing to do with one liners but the presentation of real stunts and action on real sets with somewhat investing stories attached
Yeah those movies are well made and written. I don't understand what anon is saying. Yeah they're kinda cheesy now only because everyone is a bitter cynical butthole now. People cant handle an honest action flick without winking at the camera at how silly it is.
The age of Hollywood is ending
I legitimately didn't know this existed and released.. So clearly this was a marketing failure.
Lmao Eddie Hall is in this.
Doing what? Shitting his britches?
Are those two plates even heavy?
i liked the first 2 but the third one was kinda lame. I also had no idea the 4th one even came out so i'm guessing the marketing budget was low.
No, but the age of unlimited sequels is.
I understand these guys have egos, but you couldn't bring back some of the old broads.
>Sigourney weaver
>Linder hamilton
>Michelle Yeoh
>Brigitte Nielsen
Also no Carl weathers, Like what the frick happened there. No Danny Glover, No Kurt Russell, they got Mel back but that movie was dogshit. Also I don't care how they do it even its for 60 seconds you get that fat frick segal back. Thats at least 20 million alone.
It's who you can get, maybe Linda would come in, but I feel like Michelle and Sigourney are too good for this shit now. Brigitte probably doesn't want to deal with a movie that has like four of her ex husbands...Flava Flav is probably in the movie too.
The question is: why the frick there are four Expandables movies?
Unironically ego. These c**ts convinced themselves the third film only flopped because it leaked
>100mil budget
>8mil opening
It's over for roided up 80 year old freaks
I saw the first three in theatres. And I liked them. this is the first I've heard of an Expendables 4
I saw all three of them in the theatres and all three were a disappointment. So there you go.
Astroturfed franchise that nobody was a fan of. All I keep hearing about it is how it constantly wastes its impressive cast. And how they keep losing cast members.
The names are impressive, but they are way past their prime to do action sequences. It's Steven Segal levels of sadness.
Ummmm…
When the “action stars” are in their 70s, yeah, it’s over. It should have been over for them 30 years ago.
>Throwback to eighties action movies
>No squibs
>Movie is filled with CGI blood, just like John Wick
It's just cheap. No personality and it feels like a videogame.
The action star is about alive as broadcast network TV. Those things have been dead for over a decade now.
