The problem with Batman flicks is that they never show his whole schtick. BvS unironically came the closest. Perfect Batman movie would showcase him as >a horror movie monster to random thugs and henchmen (intro and LexCorp CCTV footage in BvS) >the world's greatest detective (requires actual intelligent writers. 404: example not found) >a dark knight to Gordon, GCPD and Gotham (BB & TDK) >caped crusader to his rogues (only one most every movie/show can figure out) >a superhero despite having no super powers (TDK climax of Batman Vs SWAT Vs Joker's gang & BvS's warehouse scene)
The Batman was none of these. The entire mystery hinged on a cursory understanding of Spanish. Which "The World's Greatest Detective" couldn't figure out. No, being a Year One style story doesn't give any leeway. Battinson is dumb as frick.
I thought Catwoman and Riddler were the weakest parts. Otherwise yeah I loved it. It's slightly too long. Best Gordon brought to screen. "But but but he's black!" yeah and actually interesting for once. Gary looked right but was fricking boring.

He's in the movie just to repeat whatever Batman says back at Batman, and whisper. He's always whispering. This since that Robot show. That's how i recognize this actor. "Oh, is the black actor that always whisper his lines."

The Riddler was so unconvincing in this movie I spent the entire movie waiting for him to switch from doing the I'm-eccentrically-acting-like-I'm-insane bit to some genuine emotion at some provocation, and then the movie ended.
Batman Returns is much better. Battinson doesn't really work as a realistic Batman movie by way of Fincher because the idea of Batman is so ridiculous to begin with. If you want a grounded Batmam movie, do a faithful Year One adaptation.
Every single Batman movie has been shit except Burton's Batman returns. Peak gothic aesthetic that follows 3 animal-themed freaks with a bitter sweet ending. The only thing that it lacks is the detective element of Batman

The Wolds Fair scene is perfection. Phantasm is pretty close to my idealized Batman movie.
