Best out of the first 3? I watched the trilogy last week and these movies are boring. I don't think I like slashers unless the killer has a personality like Chucky or Leprechaun.
Watched them all over the weekend.
Shit >Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan >Jason Goes to Hell
The least interesting part of Manhattan is the part he gets to Manhattan. Which is basically just a bunch of alleys and a sewer. It looks like some nutjobs idea of what Manhattan actually is. The boat stuff is pretty interesting and I think it would've been better off to just keep them on the boat. Jason Takes a Cruise.
Jason Goes To Hell is by New Line, and it's just completely different from the others in a bad way. The effects are nice, but the plot and everything fall flat.
Most importantly, the higher you get the less breasts you see and that was always the charm. Jason is an incel, afterall.
Ok tier >Friday the 13th Part 6 >Friday the 13th >Friday the 13th Part 7
Decent outings, Part 6 is the one most people remember but it's pretty censored compared to the rest (no breasts at all in this one). Tommy at least does more here than he did in V, but even then, the character kind of peaked with IV. 7 is like Carrie vs Jason which works at the end but the chunk of the cast is very forgettable. For sure his best look though, with the spine showing.
The first, is a Halloween remake and you miss a lot of the kills. It's a slow burn as well. Betsy Palmer is great, but you only see her for like the last 15 minutes. Amazing ending, and you see the start of the template here, but that gets perfected with 2 and 3.
Schlock >Part V >Jason X
Part V gets a bunch of hate since Jason is technically not in it, but this movie is fricking hilarious. It's basically "Jason" vs Texas Chainsaw Massacre cast. Everyone is fricking nuts or bizarre. Completely campy and stupid, but nudity and gorelore! I think if you were putting any of them on at the random, this one should be it because it goes by fast and gives you all the hits. I like the "not Jason" thing as well. Tommy does suffer here because he kind of just meanders about until the end.
(cont...)
Jason X, is kind of like Scream + Friday the 13th. I can see why people hate it, but bear in mind, this was made post scream, so a lot of horror films at the time basically parodied the slash concept. It doesn't take itself seriously at all and is pure 98-2001 fun. If you weren't born to witness it, you'd probably think it sucks, so that's fine. No breasts in this one.
>Good
Friday the 13th Part IV
Introduces Tommy who becomes our protagonist for the next three films. Has a memorable cast of characters, breasts, Jason getting some gruesome kills, that's really all you want out of these movies and it delivers. Jason gets his ass kicked at the end as well, and that's always nice to see. Gets really bizarre once you watch the others and realize they dropped the Tommy becomes like Jason stuff for the next two films.
>Great
Friday the 13th Part 2
Friday the 13th Part 3
Hard to pick the best, but I tend to think part 2, because 3D keeps trying to remind you that this movie is in 3d. The formula from Part 1 is perfected here. While Jason gets his mask in Part 3 which becomes the character. Part 2 perfects everything from Part I, while Part 3 picks up on all the good shit from Part 2. Whenever I watch Part 2, I always just watch 3 right after. Both have a great balance of solid casts, breasts, gore. You can't reinvent something that just works. Whenever any of those is lacking, it's always a pretty bad Jason movie. These are as close to quintessential viewing as you can get. I recommend 3 for the Hockey Mask, if you can only watch one of them.
All in all, pretty fun weekend. They worked for the time but probably wouldn't today. Shit, I would say the films in the late 80s kind of feel mistimed. Like, this wasn't how teenagers in the late 80s would speak or do things. The earlier entries capture that better.

Generally based take.
Part II is the best, Part IV is better than you give it credit for. Part III and Part I are a good pairing in my opinion. A few parallels in them.
Jason goes to Hell is fantastic for one single reason though: the hilarity of the heart eating scene in the morgue.
Really needs a clip where it's set to some lovemaking music.
The effects are nice, and I don't mind VIII and IX that much. They're bad, but they had decent ideas going for them, just executed poorly. I actually hate the intro the most because the credits go on for a fricking eternity. But yeah, that scene is hilariously stupid and it comes at the end of the intro.
>Jason X is by far the best
X is good but people that say this are obnoxious ironygays who can only enjoy a movie if it's winking at them and making fun of itself.
It doesn't really do that much winking, aside from the hologram campers. Part 6 is the one that winks at the audience every five minutes, that's the one ironygays worship
It's winking practically every scene, but it's doing it subtly enough to make a whole lot of people mad because they didn't notice and thought it was a horror movie.
Only tasteless contrarian thinks Friday 13th is not a bottom of the barrel slasher series. Even forgotten series like The Slumber Party Massacre are better.
>All of Halloween movies
Bait. Halloween as a franchise is weak as frick, especially compared to Friday the 13th. Imagine thinking Halloween 6, Resurrection, or Ends is good.
Also Scream 6 was horrible.
Bro absolutely not lol. Friday the 13th is the most consistent slasher franchise. Halloween 1, 2, 3 and 2018. Scream 1 and 2. The rest of those franchises are garbage
I remember that one being tolerable. Kills and Ends are unwatchable
Listen m8, I love the F13 franchise but it really is of such shit quality that it's managed to be a stain on even Corey Feldman's career.
We’re talking comparables. Most slasher franchises are beloved bc we pedestal their killer’s design and portrayal
>Friday the 13th is the most consistent slasher franchise.
Yeah it's not even a contest. Most other franchises started becoming shit kinda fast. Look at TCM 4 and Halloween 5. Friday managed to avoid that until Goes to Hell.
Corey is known for Stand By Me and his other corey sidekick, and of course his rape and charlie sheen; no where do i hear anything about final chapter being mentioned in his interviews.
>Friday the 13th is the most consistent slasher franchise.
Yeah it's not even a contest. Most other franchises started becoming shit kinda fast. Look at TCM 4 and Halloween 5. Friday managed to avoid that until Goes to Hell.
I think Hallowen is a whole lot better, has actual interesting characters which arent the slasher only and along with TCM is the only slasher classic which has adapted well into the 21th century.
That said, both franchises have their own shit movies, there's no fricking way H20 or Ressurrection are better than Friday the 13th Part 3 or 2009.
>Friday the 13th Part 3 or 2009.
The characters in these were entertaining at least. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember the ones in Halloween Resurrection being cringe as hell.
If I had to rank everything...
1.Halloween 78
2.Friday the 13th Part 2
3.Friday the 13h 3D
4.Halloween 3: Season of the Witch
5.Friday the 13th Part IV
6.Halloween 2018
7. Friday the 13th
8. Halloween 2
9. Friday the 13th Part V
10. Friday the 13th Part VII
The rest are somewhat watchable to plain bad and I think both franchises suffered the closer to the 90s. You can at least laugh at Friday the 13th VI and Jason Takes Manhattan and appreciate the gore from Jason Goes to Hell. But Halloween falls the frick off after Season of the Witch. And it's barely ever interesting. They just take the most annoying part of 2 (how fricking slow it is) and keep doing it or write even more convoluted plots. Jason does it, but deep down everyone knows nobody takes it serious and you at least get breasts. Halloween keeps insisting you take it seriously for some reason and when it finally leans in on it, it's way past people caring. They did it after Scream, which can only do two movies of it before it got old. Also Resurrection and Ends are just offensively bad movies.
So overall, I would say Halloween 1 is the best out of all of them, holds up to this day, but as a franchise, Friday the 13th is better to just sit and watch.
This. It even has a brief recap of 1-3 and was the definitive end of the series at the time. If a person can only watch one F13 movie, it may as well be this one.
Yeah 4 is everything I come to Friday the 13th for. Entertaining cast, nice breasts, violence, good effects, one of the best Jasons. Nothing made since has come close.
I don’t know man, I tried to like it but it really starts to drag after a while. The trailer is so kino and then the movie itself is way too boring for its premise.
Having rewatched all of them recently, I unironically think Part 9 is underrated. It's biggest fault is that it features too little Jason in a contemporary way, but it helped explain some things about his origin and there was some neat puppet work.
Part 1 is the most overrated one and Part 2 is underrated.
I saw it in a theater on Friday and it actually made me like it a bit more. I always had that one toward the middle but despite the 3D gimmick it has one of the best casts, the best and most competent final girl by far, and a particularly imposing and intimidating Jason that never comes off the same in any of the other ones. The first four movies >>>> the rest. They had the real summer camp feel and after Part 4 every one of them had to have some moronic gimmick and the MPAA started butchering what they were allowed to show.

Can someone who knows give a QRD on whats going on with the lawsuits? Last I heard one got the rights to Camp Crystal Lake and the other has the rights to adult Jason & hockey mask. Why cant these greedy israelites work together and make more 13th movies?
Victor Miller has rights to "Crystal Lake", "Pamela Voorhees", and "Young Jason". Supposedly a prequel TV series set in the 1950s is in the works. Sean has rights to Older Jason and the hockey mask, but can only distribute a Jason film outside of the U.S.
Victor Miller hates the franchise and doesn't want them to make more, he's hobbling it on purpose. I'm sure once he's dead his family will be more than willing to play ball.
Not my absolute favorite but it has the cutest final girl.
jason be like
He's not like that
Absolutely
Best out of the first 3? I watched the trilogy last week and these movies are boring. I don't think I like slashers unless the killer has a personality like Chucky or Leprechaun.
Both Jason and Pamela have personality.
>"Oh? What're you going to do? Shoot me?"
Love the wienery way Jason drops the spear gun. He was genuinely evil in this movie.
>the trilogy
wtf is this shit
you know there's a Final Chapter before the New Beginning
and also who gives a frick what you like moron
Tried to watch this but the 3d aspect was too distracting. Of the ones I've seen I'd rank them Part II>Part IV>Part VI>Original>PartVIII>Part VI
The remake was absolute shit. Nothing close to the vibe of the originals.
You need to watch the Cinema Snob 3D extravaganza episode, it's a good time
Isn't this the one where Jason rapes? Not muh Jason.
The movie never says it was actually rape. Jason attacked her in the woods, and the "trauma" Chris has is a metaphor for rape.
It's still quite a sadistic Jason taking in mind she showed her his face when he had her cornered, Vorhees cleary remembered her
Friday the 13th pajeet edition
Watched them all over the weekend.

nope, if a PoC is in it for anything more than a minor background character, I'm not watching it.
Honestly, the character is so forgettable and you get wet sloppy rain breasts in a shirt. Nobody is looking at Reckless at that point.
Jason goes to Hell is fantastic for one single reason though: the hilarity of the heart eating scene in the morgue.
Really needs a clip where it's set to some lovemaking music.

No it's not.
Jason X is by far the best imo, when you try to make these movies scary it just doesn't work
Eh, none of them are particularly scary. When I think of them, they were made for you to take a girl to the drive-in and hopefully get a handy.
It's honestly a pretty fun sci-fi horror comedy with good kills and humorous characters
>Guy's it's okay, he just wanted his machete back!

X is good but people that say this are obnoxious ironygays who can only enjoy a movie if it's winking at them and making fun of itself.

the franchise can't exist in pieces, it's a whole body of work that covers a range of tones and approaches.
It doesn’t really make fun of itself as it enjoys the series as a whole. I feel like it is humorous but respectful.
These movies were literally just an excuse for teenagers to go to the theater and see some breasts and ass
They were more for dates than anything else since she'll cling to you and scream and you can be the big man and comfort her.
6 is the best.
6 is the best only if you just discovered the series last month and are easily impressed by self-aware humor
There are no fricking breasts in that movie.
>There are no fricking breasts in that movie.
yes, best kills, best final girl, and best Jason (Richard Brooker)
6>1>4>irredeemable trash>the rest
All of Halloween movies and Scream movies ares better doe.

More proof that only casuals like 6

Your garbage taste aside, it's still funny that it's the people who don't even like Friday the 13th that are always saying Part 6 is the best.
You're the one being a contrarian, moron. Is that the joke?
HAHAHAHAHAHA

If you watch them all on a row once every few years its not that bad

I love that cover.
This homie believes you need to "explain" the origin of a moron who lives in the woods.
6 is superior in every way. Except for nudity

Automatically brings it down several spots.
homie, that's a whole tier down. It's fricking so bad that its noticeable the movie has no breasts.
