It didn't have a fanbase because the people that loved it don't usually talk about what they read or join "fandoms", only when the tv show(that shares nothing with the source except for the basic premise and some of the characters) came out all the homosexuals, that would usually religiously join fandoms and buy merch and shit, started running their mouths. So now when someone, in my presence, mentions he likes The Boys i just smile and nod because nothing pisses people more off than taking a huge steaming dump on something they enjoy.
I'm not joking when I say regular capeshit like TDK and Spiderman 2 have more depth. This is literally bottom of the barrel and anyone who pretends to dislike capeshit and enjoys this is a brainlet pseud that I respect less than Pickle Rick fans.
They think video essay means a long video. There's a six hour "video essay" about the game Morrowind that's just a dry description of everything in the game. Don't know why these things are popular.
Those are the worst.
Watched one on "House of the Rising Sun" because I was bored, and it was basically just the wiki article for the song's history said in the most obnoxious way possible.

What do you people expect, we're at the end of history? Everything of significant cultural interest has already been assessed and catalogued. The only thing left to do is recite. If you want "new," you'll have to incite a a violent transfer of power.
Rather dramatic for people complaining about a glut of mediocre minidocumentaries.
You say that like there isn't good stuff still coming out all the time otherwise.
CnRsenal does fantastic video essays on WW1-Era firearms for example. With original research in some areas that has been very revealing as to context surrounding certain decisions or firearms developments.
It's not really melodramatic at all. More descriptive than anything. >C&Rsenal
Interesting as that example is (I'm a fan), the subject is niche and the average person detests historical content, even with forensic/ballistics expertise. The closest anyone ever got to capturing that market was Deadliest Warrior (which I also enjoyed).
>we're at the end of history
is that like how we were in "posthistory" after the fall of the USSR?
"Video Essays" seldom ever have any semblance of essay format. As someone with a legitim learning disability who decided to go to college at 30, while it takes me a lot longer then your average person, essays really aren't rocket science. Come up with a question, support it with evidence. These videos can't even do that.
I wouldn't mind, but most of these youtubers take themselves WAAAAAY to seriously and treat their opinions as fact.
This as well. The conflicts between the characters are all just very obvious setups for separating characters, or getting them to do what's convenient for the plot. The TV writing in The Boys is just too obvious.
Also, Hughie is fricking unbearable in the show. His relationship with Starlight worked in the first season, but since then it hasn't been convincing. Kimiko and Frenchie have also been given the worst B plots imaginable. Her b***hing about her powers, then conveniently wanting them again when the story needed it was just fricking cringe.
>”I’m a heckin monster! I don’t want to kill anymore!” >proceeds to kill Vought employees while smiling and laughing about it with Frenchie in the end of season 3
Yeah, I don’t get her arc
Love this show. It's proving how fragile polcels are at their core. Even the most obvious parody is taken as an assault on right-wing politics, and even when they shit on the left (the lgbtq+ food stalls for example) people act like it never happened.
The cognitive dissonance is unreal. Wake up to yourself and learn to take a joke ffs. Bunch of gravy seal Karen's.
I like The Boys, but why are so many idiots pretending it's smarter than it is? It's way too on the nose. I also think the comic is generally much better.
> “The Boys” becoming a new Rick and Morty?
apparently yes. maybe the can get sponsored by some company to bring back some obscure condiment for its fans
Is that the same show where one guy turns small and jumps into the penis of another and then while they pleasure themselves he sneezes and turns big and rips the person apart from their urethra?
That show for thinking people?
Nah man, you don't get it.
That show funded by Jeff Bezos is a scathing critique of capitalism and the corruption of governments and big business.
Its really fricking deep.
it always was. at least normal capeshit knows what it is, the soys tries to be smart and falls flat on it's face but redditors and twittercels still slurp it up
>You see dear viewer The Boys is not actually capeshit. It's a subtle satire of the genre that tackles poignant themes in today's society such as politics, sexuality and the ever growing rejection of scientific consensus. But on a serious note what do you think Homelander's power level is when compared to Thanos and Superman?
i want to kill myself
I want to consooom aaaghhh i can't stop consooooming
I'm so tired of capeshit fricking hell marvel was the worst thing to happen to television
I hate marvel, but the boys is fricking gay shit
Hoe come Butcher and Homelander didn't raise Ryan together and then have gay sex
could be happening in the next season.
If I ever meet the homosexual who made that YouTube video I will beat him into paste.
>becoming
Its had the exact same fanbase since day one
It didn't have a fanbase because the people that loved it don't usually talk about what they read or join "fandoms", only when the tv show(that shares nothing with the source except for the basic premise and some of the characters) came out all the homosexuals, that would usually religiously join fandoms and buy merch and shit, started running their mouths. Based nonautistic anon. It's nice to know that social intelligence still exists.
>show for thinking people
JUST FRICK OFF, PLEASE
>what if capeshit but gay sex?
>brilliant!
it's for thinking people, obviously
It's capeshit for capeshit fans who want to be self-aware about the fact that they like capeshit so they love how violent, edgy and subversive it is.
Alan Moore tried to warn us about this.
He’s the worse one because he made that gay shit Le deep.
Frick all this lame shit
He was just trying to make 13 year old kids think.
I'm not joking when I say regular capeshit like TDK and Spiderman 2 have more depth. This is literally bottom of the barrel and anyone who pretends to dislike capeshit and enjoys this is a brainlet pseud that I respect less than Pickle Rick fans.
Gayer then monkeypox
>Watch one of these zoomer video essays
>He's basically just reading off wikipedia
>has no thesis
They think video essay means a long video. There's a six hour "video essay" about the game Morrowind that's just a dry description of everything in the game. Don't know why these things are popular.
because people legitimately just put them on as background noise and maybe actually watched all of 15 minutes of that 6 hours
Those are the worst.
Watched one on "House of the Rising Sun" because I was bored, and it was basically just the wiki article for the song's history said in the most obnoxious way possible.

Sort of, more pessimistic/fatalist.

Remember the whole beached and then running through pipes sequence in season 2?
Idk how anyone watches it seriously after that
>”I’m a heckin monster! I don’t want to kill anymore!”
>proceeds to kill Vought employees while smiling and laughing about it with Frenchie in the end of season 3
Yeah, I don’t get her arc
I don’t think it's for thinking people.
Just some gay moron saying it is to get (You)s
Always has been
herb all phoneposters
It already is

Your "compatriots" would eat you alive for posting on Cinemaphile, and your liberal employers would probably fire you.
>implying I'm either
Take a step outside your bubble you moron. There is a whole world out here, you can stop playing baby mode and join us any time.
I remember an anon scoffing at me because I told him people who watch The Boys think they're smarter than your average viewer. Just lol.
Literally only 3 characters in the show are interesting and they killed one of them and put the other in a coma kek
Who did they kill?
I like The Boys, but why are so many idiots pretending it's smarter than it is? It's way too on the nose. I also think the comic is generally much better.
> “The Boys” becoming a new Rick and Morty?
apparently yes. maybe the can get sponsored by some company to bring back some obscure condiment for its fans
>Venture Brothers died for Rick and Morty
Frick this Black person homosexual earth
Is that the same show where one guy turns small and jumps into the penis of another and then while they pleasure themselves he sneezes and turns big and rips the person apart from their urethra?
That show for thinking people?
Ah yes, just what we need more cynicism.
Nah man, you don't get it.
That show funded by Jeff Bezos is a scathing critique of capitalism and the corruption of governments and big business.
Its really fricking deep.
Anyone who claims that the media they watch is for thinking people isn’t a thinking person.
if the last season of The Boys has taught us anything, it's that any pretense of satire is completely gone, and it's just full on edgy Marvel
>he doesn't remember the classic episode where Butcha says "wubba lub dub c**t"
it always was. at least normal capeshit knows what it is, the soys tries to be smart and falls flat on it's face but redditors and twittercels still slurp it up
The whole DARK and SUBVERSIVE superhero trend is so fricking gay. Literally Marvel movies for people who think they’re too smart for Marvel movies.

The Boys is becoming my wife's son
>capeshit
>capeshit but also insufferably edgy and pretentious
I'd rather watch marvel (not that I do)
aaahhhhh a well written show that uncool people like save me Cinemaphile!!!!
>both written by insufferable israelites
Yeah, I guess so.
rage clickbait threads are boring. I'll take Bane memes any day over this.
>the boys
>for thinking people
the bar is so low for capeshit fans they think the boys needs brainpower for you to understand it
>for thinking people
capeshit fans trying to look pretentious that they watch a show making fun of capeshit is cringe
