they're neither, they're a fictional society in a fantasy world that may be inspired by certain elements of real world cultures but is still distinct and isn't directly meant to represent them
Sun warrior firebending looked weak.
Fire Nation is Japan. Earth Nation is China.
But China was the more advanced one up untill like the 1900s
>located on a few islands
>highly miliaristic
>imperialistic
>genocidal
>invades basically everyone in the region
>technologically advanced
Come on...
But Japan didn't invade to "spread technology"
They invaded out of fear of Europeans invading them
Fire Nation is more Thailand then Japan.
how the frick even
It's more tropical.
I remember some detailed posts about Thai influences in Fire Nation architecture. But overall both Earth and Fire nations represent China from different periods and dynasties. The Japanese influence I suppose would be the imperialism, but that's more of a 19th-20th century thing rather than ancient
China has been an empire for longer than Japan.
Ask Vietnam, those guys had to deal with 1000 years of colonization
This.
Last Airbender is basically just WW2. Replace Sozin's comet with the atomic bomb. Except there's no americans to save them.
Only a Tibetian monk.
Fire nation takes inspiration from both, more noticeably imperial Japan, with some Chinese and Thai influence while the Earth Kingdom takes much more heavy inspiration from China with some Korean influence.
This
Earth Kingdom is specifically influenced by Manchu ruled China
An era that Chinese Nationalists view as a "dark age"
That's probably it, I remember it based on different dynasties but not which one specifically.
Filipino
maybe these guys
Are the Philippines the Louisiana of Asia?
laotian
Nope
Fire Nation: ruZZia
