Is the lion king worth rewatching? It’s been so long since I saw it and I remember it, but does it stand up to the test of time?
And what about the recent cgi version? Is that one any good?

Yes, but only the original Lion King movie, not the soulless 2019 version that I'll never watch. The original Lion King movie from 1994 was the first movie I ever saw in a cinema, so I have a soft spot for it. I was 6 at that time.

      >Simba learning actions have consequences and dangers of life and death and that being a prince comes with responsibility that he cannot take lightly
      >Simba traumatized by his father's death, taking him out of the innocence of childhood, and burdening him with guilt.
      >Simba escaping his guilt and responsibility by embracing nihilistic and epicurean philosophy of Timon and Pumba
      >Nala appears and reminds him of his responsibility and the consequences of his desertion of duty (Scar's tyrannical rule)
      >Simba led on a journey to the underworld by monkey wizard to reconnect and rediscover the lessons of his father and inherit his divine right to be king.

Yes, but do this so you can fully enjoy the movie.
When the Hakuna Matata Song ends, stop the movie. They're dancing into the horizon at the end of the musical number, turn it off there. Take out the disk if you're watching it on DVD or Blu-Ray, or VHS if you're an oldgay. The rest of the movie is silly and pointless, because you've probably seen it a million times already.

That is the best ending to the Lion King, because here, Simba spends the rest of his life with Timone and Pumba, as the Three Bachelor Amigos kicking back and enjoying the lush jungle life. Pride Rock, the ghost of Mufasa, pointless responsibilities, Nala manipulating Simba to come back with sex and deceptive charms, all goes the way of the Dodo. They Party with No Worries, Hakuna Matata Baby! YEAH!

As for the CGI version, we don't talk about that abomination.

Eddie Redmayne was robbed. He should have been the voice of Simba in the Lion King remake. Nala was his childhood crush, and his name even invokes Simba's red mane. He is also a far more talented singer than Don gLover, especially in the context of musical theater. In a production as incompetent as the Les Misérables movie, Eddie Redmayne was one of the few actors who actually carried it.

I don't understand watching kids movies when you're an adult, unless it is with your own kids. There's no question about the quality of the Lion King, but if you are a grown man, what can you even get out of it? Especially if you have seen it already.

Okay, you can go play in the playpen with the other diaper-shitting toddlers and recite your ABCs, then. It's one thing to be with kids to teach and direct them, or enjoy making them happy; it's an entirely different thing to put yourself on their level and genuinely enjoy consuming media designed to stimulate the mind of an actual preschooler.

          False equivalency, homosexual
Kid movies are still made by adults, they just have toned down themes, but generally only on the surface. You can still read TLK like a mature story (Hamlet, or something else) that a toddler would never write.

It's a movie for children. Do you have a son/daughter/niece/nephew to watch it with? That's the only time I rewatch cartoons made for children.

Imagine unironically sitting down as a 30 year old man and watching a fricking sing-a-long cartoon by yourself in your room. Couldn't be me.

So what do you do as a 30 year old man who sits by himself in his room?

Usually work, when not working I study or consume entertainment meant for fully developed brains. I'm certainly not watching Dora, pointing at the screen and shouting like you down's syndrome sufferers apparently do.

Wait until you see what they do with boxes. Odd though that puma's are the only big cats that purr.

Pumas and Cheetahs are not actually big cats proper. They're in the same branch as small cats, but they evolved to be large.

Animals obviously have a perception of reality that's quite close to a human one. Like it's impossible to deny after seeing stuff like this, they obviously have a concept of humor and jokes.

One of the dogs chewed the meat stick, and he's interrogating the dogs. The big dogs all finger the little one for the deed.

the cgi version is whatever. it's clearly very high budget, but it felt to me like it was missing a lot of the emotion and expressiveness, to forgive the cliche, soul, of the 2D version. the music numbers also didn't translate very well into realistic CGI.
